St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery
St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery
There are two listings for this cemetery. Both will be listed, in separate files. Please read the brief descriptions of these files, before you move on to the data files. The first file seems to be the most complete, but the second file adds a few names not in the first one, but also has what may be some inaccurate information (?)..
RECORD ONE:
Burials in St. John's Churchyard to Oct 31 1979  Compiled by C. A. Hill.
I (C.A. Hill) have examined the church records for the Parishes of Douglas and Bright; St, John's, Nashwaaksis; St Mary's (York); Christ Church Parish Church (St Anne's); also the records in the Cathedral Archives and Cathedral Vault.
It has been difficult to determine, in some cases, the exact place of burial, as in the early church records the place of burial was not shown, or shown in various ways such as Douglas, Nashwaaksis, Stone Church, Parish Church, lower Church, etc. I have checked as carefully as I could and hope this record of burials in St. John's Churchyard will be of interest to those who may be searching for their ancestors.

RECORD TWO:
This is a second recording of this cemetery. It has many minor changes --- too many to incorporate into the first record. Since the previous record had been crossed checked with all the sources listed near its heading, it is possible that this other record is just the data found on the stones. In a few cases there are additional names for the people involved. This may be because of it being a later transcription. Some of the cross-referencing of "maiden" names may not be correct. Rather than try an dove tail all this data, this second recording is being made in full. It will be up to the user to clarify any incompatibilities.
