These two photos were sent in by Debra Carson. Info re the photos: The first one I believe may be Margaret Morrison and Fr. J. MacCarthy, but I am not sure. The second one may, in fact be the same lady as in the first photo, but unfortunately all relatives have long passed on, so I have nobody to verify with. It was taken in 1911 by Schlesinger Bros. Photography in New York. They sent them to Mrs. Ward in Saint John. ( actually I have 2 , 11 x 14 inch framed in gold gilt frames). Mrs. Ward 148 Mill St. Saint John N. B. The family of Peter Ward was listed in the Directory of Saint John in 1923 . This street was removed when the Viaduct in Saint John was built. Their neighbors were the James Quinn Family. The lady is dressed in Costume Native Attire, and she did several shots for Schlesinger Bro. Photography in New York, for a series of postcards. We were told she was a singer, but have now idea who she is other than a distant relative. Mrs. Ward gave them to my grandmother Mary Mahoney, of Rothesay, Kings County N.B. My fathers aunts were” Minni and Mammy”, the Quinn sisters from Saint John. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [email protected] |
