Kurt Hasse Larsson
The death of Kurt Hasse Larsson, the husband of Ella (Nodding) Larsson, occurred on Friday, April 25, 2008 at his home in Blacks Harbour NB with his wife Ella at his side. Kurt was born at the Parish of Mjállby, in the south of Sweden on May 11, 1923. He was the eldest son of Fritz and Theckla (Andersson) Larsson. Along with his wife Ella, he is survived by his daughter, Eva Hydén (Janne) of Borgholm, Sweden, his sons; Magnus (Mia) Larsson of Lund, Sweden, David Larsson of Blacks Harbour and Daniel Larsson also of Blacks Harbour, his two younger brothers; Thor Larsson and a very special sister in law Martha and Rune (Naimi) Larsson both of Sólvesborg, Sweden, and his seven grandchildren; Tove, Olaf, Tore, Lif, Anna, Mikael and Frida all of Sweden. Kurt was predeceased by his oldest sister, Inger (Larsson) Bergh of Sweden and his youngest sister, Majken Larsson (Westerlund) of Denmark.

Kurt was raised on their farm in Rökelund, Sweden, together with his brothers and sisters. When Kurt married Birgit Nordquist they moved to the town of Karlskrona where they together, ran a business. Kurt was hardworking but a very generous man with a warm heart. The family then lived in the village of Nättraby, Sweden. After Birgit passed away, Kurt came to Newfoundland in 1971 as a landed immigrant and worked for Nickerson Seafoods. He also worked in Gaspe, PQ, Nova Scotia and Shippagan at all of the Connors Bros Factories where he trained workers to operate Baader Machines where he remained until his retirement in 1987. Kurt also served in World War II for the Swedish Army, Panther Unit.

Resting at the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church from where the service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm. The interment will follow at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Kurt’s memory donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
