CLEVELAND, BERTRAM W. Sr. - 80, Halifax, passed away January 22, 2003, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Josiah and Mary Christina (Topple) (Johnson) Cleveland. He was a veteran of the Second World War, a member of Vimy Branch 27, Royal Canadian Legion and also a member of the RCASC Reserves. He retired from the IWK Hospital as a security officer. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
     Surviving are his daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Larry McDonald), Dartmouth; son, Bertram Jr., Halifax; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Edith Durdle; daughter, Margaret; daughter and son in infancy, Christine and Bobby; sisters, Edith and Pearl; brothers, Thomas, Wilfred, Dan, Charles, Gerald.
     Visitation was held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, Rev. Ron Clark officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice. Vimy Branch 27, Royal Canadian Legion, Halifax, held their service Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
