GNR. G. EDWARD MAHAR KILLED IN HOLLAND
St. George, Dec. 11 -- Mrs. Edward
Mahar of Blacks Harbour received official word last week that her husband Gnr.
George Edward Mahar had been killed instantly in action in Holland, November
26.
Gnr. Mahar was born near St. George thirty years ago, a son of Mrs. Fred
Steen, Sr. of Letang and the late Wellington Mahar, of this place.
Enlisting in 1940 he went overseas in June this year.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Miss Freda Noddin of
Beaver Harbour two small children, Edward and Donna, a brother Charles and two sister Althea
and Ruth.
