Find Wreckage Of Plane But Nothing Heard From Crew

Transcribed by G. Christian Larsen

HALIFAX, Aug. 12 - Wreckage spotted from the air late Wednesday in the vicinity of Grand Manan Island, off the southern New Brunswick coast, has been identified as that of the twin-engine aircraft missing since Tuesday from the air station at Pennfield Ridge, N.B.

The announcement from R.C.A.F. Eastern Air Command headquarters here said initial whether the bomber's crew was safe.

The plane failed to return Tuesday from a rountine flight over the bay of Fundy and presumably was forced down, although cause of the crash is not known.
