Funeral Of W.O. Allan Murchie

    Funeral services for Warrant Officer Second Class Allan C. Murchie were held at his home on Friday, June 2nd, at two thirty o'clock. The Reverend E.E. Ashley and Captain N.R. Estey of the Royal Canadian Air Force officiated. The St. Croix Branch of the Canadian Legion acted as Guard of Honor and Royal Canadian Air Force Officers from Pennfield were pall-bearers.

    The large attendance at the funeral and the beautiful flowers were a tribute to his memory. Among the flowers were a wreath from the Sergeants' Mess, No.2 A.N.S., Charlottetown, P.E.I., set pieces from relatives and friends, flowers from the United Church, the silk room, the weave room, the Canadian Legion, the neighbors, and his many friends.

    He was born in Milltown, N.B., July 20, 1917, and graduated from Milltown High School. He was always interested in sports and excelled at tennis. In October, 1941 he entered the service and would have received his rating of Warrant Officer, First Class, May 25, 1944.

    Last Post was sounded at the grave and interment was made in the John Murchie lot in the St. Stephen cemetery.

    Those from out of town attending the funeral service were Gates Murchie, North Sutton, N.H., Byron Murchie, Portland, Maine, L.A.C. George Haley and W.O.2 Roy Martyn, Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Sgt. Alex Armstrong from Petawawa, Ontario.
