Visiting Artists From Pennfield Delight Audience. Guests Of Canadian Club
St. Andrews, Feb. 8 -
An R.A.F. concert group of Pennfield entertained a large and very appreciative
audience at the Andraeleo Hall, St. Andrews, on Friday evening, Feb. 5th, with a
varied musical and entertaining program. The concert was directed by Flt. Lt.
Fine, who acted as master of ceremonies. Flt. Lt. Fine made an outstanding hit
with his selection, "Right in the Feuhrer's Face".
The concert was sponsored by the Women's Canadian Club of St.
Andrews.
Those taking part in the various numbers were the following:
Dance orchestra: Saxs., Cpl. Turner, L.A.C. Gilman, L.A.C.
Elsey. Trumpets, L.A.C. Nesbit, Cpl. Beadham, Band Leader. Bass A.C. Link.
Pianos, A.C. Hyde, A.C. Thorpe. Drums, L.A.C.Jones.
Music arranged by A.C. Eric Thorpe.
Vocals by Cpl. Eric Beadham, Cpl. Phil Turner.
Vocal Quartette: Cpl. Youngman, L.A.C.Hunter, L.A.C. Culley,
A.C. Corks.
Vocal Trio: Cpl. Turner, L.A.C. Mansell, A.C. Corks.
Piano Duet: Cpl. Bath, A.C. Thorpe.
Accordion Selections: L.A.C. Stone, "When You're
Smiling" with L.A.C. Max Brown.
Concert arranged and directed by Flt. Lt. H.J. Fine.
Finale: Grand song, sung by L.A.C. Hunter, "Lords of the
Air."
Following the concert, the members of the Executive and of
the Program Committee of the Canadian Club entertained the artists at supper at
the Mercury Club, with the co-operation of the Hon. Marguerite Shaughnessy and
A. Smith, President and Treasurer of the Mercury Club respectively.
The following committee of the Canadian Club were in charge of details for the
concert: Mrs. H.B. Hachey, Mrs. George Mears, Mrs. Karl Kierstead, Mrs. S.
Anning, and Miss C. Rigby. The net proceeds amounted to $75.00.
