Pennfield, April 1 - On
Wednesday evening, March 29th, the visiting Utopia Army Camp teams, sparked by
the brilliant playing on the part of Whalen (former star of the Newcastle high
school basketball team) took the game in the last period by a score of 43 to 29
at Pennfield Ridge Air Force Station. The game was very evenly contested until
the last quarter, when Utopia's forwards put on the high pressure, adding 14
points against Pennfield's 4.
The line-up was as follows:
PENNFIELD - Fowards, Carver, Laderoute (2), Skidd (10), Von
Richter (7); centre, Curron (2), McNeil; guards, Rush (2), Yates (4), Gauthier,
Fraser, Pattison (2), Brush.
UTOPIA - Forwards, Buckley (2), Burke, McConkey (2),
Thompson; centre, Whalen (24), Wilson (6); guards, Keefe (9), Camp, Urquhart,
Wake.
