CHARLOTTE "Tina" - After a lengthy illness at the Saint
John Regional Hospital on March 23, 2000, Mrs. Ernestine (Tina) Charlotte
(Cameron) Stevens of Beaver Harbour, wife of Frank G. Stevens. Born in Saint
John on July 8, 1943, she was a daughter of Alice (Callaghan) Cameron and the
late Murray Cameron. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her
husband, her mother Alice of Saint John; one son Robert and wife Jackie of
Windsor, ON; three daughters, Lisa, Mrs. Kevin Scott of Welland, ON, Pamela
Stevens of Toronto and Tina Collet of Beaver Harbour; six grandchildren; four
brothers, Murray Cameron and wife Donna of Hammond River, Bobby and wife Barb,
Victor and Stephen all of Saint John; three sisters, Mary, Mrs. Don Hounham of Manilla, ON, Cathy Cameron and Sally, Mrs. Danny Bonavie both of Saint John;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tina was a member of the Wesleyan Church in
Black’s Harbour. She had worked at Harbourside Manor as an administrator for
13 years. She enjoyed singing and oil painting. She loved writing, especially
poetry.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church in Black’s Harbour, from where the
service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. Visiting hours at the Church on Friday
from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment in the
Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In her memory, donations to the Wesleyan Church or to
the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

JOAN ISABEL - Peacefully at the Fundy Health Center in Blacks Harbour, N.B.,
on December 28, 2000, Mrs. Joan Isabel Wright, wife of H. Emerson Wright of
Beaver Harbour, NB. Born in Phillips Harbour, NS, on August 31, 1937, she was a
daughter of the late Joseph and Leila (Penny) Grant. A loving wife, mother and
grandmother, Joan is survived by her husband, 3 sons, Derrick and his fiancée
Jennifer Goodine of St. George, NB, Peter and his wife Wendy of Beaver Harbour,
NB, and Ricky and his companion Velda Leslie of Blacks Harbour, NB, one daughter
Sarah and her companion Craig Hamilton of St. George, four grandchildren;
Jessica and Mallory Wright and Nicholas and Katelyn Leslie; four brothers;
Reginald and his wife Sonia, and Herbie both of Beaver Harbour, Don and his wife
Lois of Miramichi, NB, and Barry and his wife Joanne of St. Andrews, NB; four
sisters; Debbie, Mrs. Gary Carvell of Beaver Harbour; Joyce, Mrs. Bill Mitchell
of Brampton, Ont.; Bette, Mrs. Bernie Flavin of Saint John, NB; and Jean
MacCumber of Utopia, NB, several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was
predeceased by two brothers; Frank and Edward. Joan enjoyed gardening and the
outdoors. She also was a collector of many things especially dolls and angels.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage St., St.
George, NB. Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Beaver Harbour
United Baptist Church. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visitation at the funeral home, Friday 7-9 PM. In Joan's memory, donations may

ANNIE HELEN - Peacefully at the Fundy Health Center, Blacks Harbour, N.B. on
January 1, 2001, Mrs. Annie Helen (Rogers) Lank, in her 93rd year, of Black's
Harbour and formerly of Pocologan and wife of the late Roland Lank, Annie was
born in Little Lepreau on August 9, 1908 and she was a daughter of the late
Charles C. and Mary Jane (Clarke) Rogers. A loving mother and grandmother, she
is survived by one sister Margaret Ward of Seeley's Cove; three grandchildren
Hugh Mitchell (Linda) of Black's Harbour, Colin Mitchell (Betty) of St. Stephen
and Karl Mitchell (Claudette) of Pennfield; 10 great grandchildren; three great
great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
daughter Florence Pauline Mitchell; twin grandsons Philip and William Mitchell
and two brothers Gordon and Lorne Rogers.
Annie, known as "Nan" by all her family, was a
member of the Pocologan United Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and doing
puzzles. She worked at the Shaw & Ellis Clam Factory in Pocologan and for
Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour until 1965.

Street, St. George, N.B. from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 2
p.m. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours on

ENID PHYLLIS - The death of Mrs. Enid Phyllis (Smith) Wright of Beaver
Harbour, wife of the late Alvin L. Wright, occurred on January 29, 2001 at the
home of her niece, Theda Smith, in Tracy, N.B. Born in Beaverdam, N.B., on
December 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Susannah (Lunnin)
Smith. She is survived by her sister Helen (Mrs. Stewart Mowry) of Fredericton;
several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Bertha and Helen Smith, both of
Beaverdam, N.B. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd, Max and Allen and
one sister, Ida.
Enid was a School Teacher having taught in various schools in
Charlotte County and the Province, including Pennfield, Beaver Harbour, Hoyt and
Spruce Lake. She was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church and a member
of The Women's Missionary Society. She also enjoyed knitting.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street,
St. George, N.B.. Service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the United
Baptist Church in Beaver Harbour. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in
the spring. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. In her

LOIS ALICE - After a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on
February 8, 2001, Mrs. Lois Alice Guthrie of Seelye’s Cove, NB, wife of the
Kenneth Vernon Guthrie. Born in Black’s Harbour on October 13, 1925, she was
the daughter of the late Robert and Eva (Borthwick) Stevens. A loving mother and
grandmother, she is survived by four sons, Dale (Beulah) and Donnie, both of
Seelye’s Cove, Timmy (Pat) of Utopia and Peter (Carolyn) of Grand Bay; four
daughters, Pat and Rosslyn, Mrs. Horace Hooper, both of Seelye’s Cove,
Shirley, Mrs. Marcel Senechal of Pennfield and Carolyn, Mrs. Jeff Hatt of St.
George; 15 grandchildren; four brothers, Frank of Beaver Harbour, Murl and
Millard, both of Pembroke, Ontario and Paul of Petitcodiac; six sisters, Edna
Bieman and Margaret Peters, both of British Columbia, Pauline Craft of Ontario,
Bessie Stevens of Sussex, Mae Mahar of Saint John and Isabel Hill of Blacks
Harbour; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Kenneth;
two brothers, Bill and Jack and one sister Audrey Guthrie. Lois was a member of
the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church.

THOMAS ALBERT "Tom" - After a lengthy illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital
on February 17, 2001, Mr. Thomas Albert Mahar of Pennfield, NB, husband of Ola
M.(Justason) Mahar. Born in Utopia on March 8, 1926, he was a son of the late
Robert and Matilda (Erdis) Mahar. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Tom
is survived by his wife; four sons, Gerald of Pennfield; James and companion,
Patty of Saint John; Phillip and wife Karen of Pennfield, and George of Saint
John; one grandson, Erik; four granddaughters, Jamie, Jill, Sara and Julie; one
great-granddaughter, Madison; one brother, John (Gladys) of Lincoln, NB; six
sisters, Blanche Breau of St. George; Marion Mahar of Utopia; Helen Waycott of
Calais, Maine; Irene Stewart (Millidge) of Saint John; Anne Mahar of Winnipeg
and June Kingston of Utopia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was
predeceased by one sister, Mae Mahar. Tom was employed by NB Power, starting in
1946 as a Lineman and retiring in 1991 as District Detailer. When he retired, he
was the longest serving employee at NB Power. He loved the outdoors and was a
member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 69, Lancaster.

JOSEPH RENE "Joe"- Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at
the Fundy Health Centre, Blacks Harbour on February 18, 2001, Mr. Joseph Rene
Surette of Blacks Harbour, husband of Vivian (Justason) Surette. Born in Lower
Melbourne, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia on November 27, 1937, he was a son of
the late Lawrence and Anita (Babin) Surette. A loving husband, father and
grandfather, he is survived by his wife; two sons, John and companion Patsy
Blanchard; and Mark and his wife, Tammy, both of St. George; two grandchildren,
Natasha and Tiffany; one brother, Russell and companion Carol of Saint John; one
sister, Celeste, Mrs. Harold Kingsley of Peterborough, Ontario; several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Joe was a devoted employee of Connor Bros. for 39 years. He
was a former member of the Blacks Harbour Fire Department for 27 years. He
enjoyed working on old cars and camping at Beulah.

DENNIS ARNOLD - Unexpectedly at his residence on March 21, 2001, Mr. Dennis
Arnold Justason, husband of Barbara (Thorne) Justason of Pennfield. Born in
Blacks Harbour on July 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Arnold and Addie
(Cooke) Justason. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by
his wife, Barbara; son, Blair of Blacks Harbour; daughter, Michele, Mrs. Dana
Anthony of Pennfield; two grandchildren, Carter and Ryley Anthony, at home; two
brothers, Paul (Josie) of Kentville, NS; Colin (Marilyn) of Halifax, NS; two
sisters, Viola (Edgar) LeBlanc of Blacks Harbour; Phyllis (Paul) Thorne of Saint
John; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and sister-in-law Ida Justason of
Fredericton, NB. Dennis was predeceased by two brothers, Melvin and Reginald. A
pipefitter by trade, Dennis had been employed by Connors Bros., as well as at
the Irving Refinery. he enjoyed hunting, gardening and restoring old houses.

FRANCES EDNA - Peacefully at the Ridgeview Manor, Pennfield, NB, on
Monday, August 6, 2001, Mrs. Frances Edna (Craig) Justason, wife of the late
Judson Justason. Born at Bonny River, NB on August 4, 1914, she was a daughter
of the late Harry and Florence (Sherwood) Craig. She is survived by one daughter
Eleanor and son-in-law Ben Stottlemyre of Orlando, Florida; four grandsons,
Keith of Georgia and Kevin, Kenton and Kyle of Orlando; six great-grandchildren;
five sisters: Edith Hamilton of Bangor, Maine; Florence Chambers, Mary Steen
(Charles) and Shirley Hatt (Clinton), all of St. George and Eileen McLellan
(Frederick) of St. Stephen; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she
was predeceased by one daughter, Nancy. Frances was a school teacher and taught
for many years in the area schools. She was a member of the Pennfield Baptist
Church where she also taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s
Missionary Society.

MARK FRANCIS - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen,
N.B., on October 22, 2001, Mr. Mark Francis Perreault of St. George, N.B.,
husband of Jinny Fortin. Born in Blacks Harbour on February 23, 1965, he was a
son of Floretta (Bradford) Perreault and the late Richard Perreault. A loving
husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Jinny; one son,
Kristen Mark, at home; one daughter, Christy Comeau of Utopia; one
granddaughter, Makenzie, of Utopia; his mother, Floretta Perreault of Pennfield;
two brothers, Bradford and his fiance, Stephanie Dupuis of Saint John and
Richard of Utopia; two sisters, Cindy Perreault and companion, Peter Fairweather
and Vicky Lynn, Mrs. Larry James, both of Bayside, N.B., several aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his father and one
brother, Kristen.
Mark had been employed at Vance's Auto Supplies as a clerk
for 17 years. He was an original member of the Pennfield Fire Dept. when it was
formed in 1989 and was an 11 year member of the St. George Fire Department where
he served as Captain/ Driver. He served faithfully until the evening of October
22nd when he responded to his last alarm. He was a race car enthusiast and an
avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Eastern Charlotte ATV Club.
Mark's friendly smile and eagerness to help others will be greatly missed by all
who knew him.

RYAN, MARGARET ROSE - After a lengthy illness at the Saint John
Regional Hospital on December 8, 2001, Mrs. Margaret Rose (Boyd) Ryan of
Pocologan, NB, wife of Nelson Ryan. Born in Blacks Harbour on December 16, 1947.
She was a daughter of Mrs. Mildred (Campbell) Boyd and the late Layton Boyd. She
is survived by her husband, Nelson; four sons, Jamie, Shawn and Jeff, all of
Pocologan; Wayne and his wife, Theresa of Dawson Creek, BC; her mother, Mrs.
Mildred Boyd of Pocologan; five grandchildren; one brother, Terry Boyd (Laurie)
of Bonny River and two sisters, Mary Graham (Ron) of Saint John and Eileen
Babineau (Leon) of Pocologan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was
predeceased by one brother, Leonard Boyd. Margaret had previously been employed
at Connors Brothers in the label room. She enjoyed reading.

OLGA LEOTA - Peacefully at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B. on
November 9, 2001. Mrs. Olga Leota (Cross) Justason, formerly of Beaver Harbour,
N.B. and wife of the late Alvin Osborne Justason. Born in Beaver Harbour on
October 29, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Horace O. and Henrietta
(Harris) Cross. She is survived by one son, Gerald and his wife, Phyllis of
Beaver Harbour; daughter-in-law Colleen Justason of Saint John, four
grandchildren; Louise, Mrs. Dwayne Gauthier of Beaver Harbour, Osborne and his
wife Kristen of Pennfield, Robert and his wife Kathy of Saint John, and Jill of
Halifax, NS, six great grandchildren, two nieces; Patricia, Mrs. Paul McDonald
of Montreal, PQ and Carol, Mrs. Gerald Fraser of Dartmouth, NS. Besides her
husband, she was predeceased by one son; Glendon, one grandson; Mark, one
brother; Myron and one sister; Ethel Lloyd. Prior to her retirement, Olga had
worked as a packer for Connors Bros. for over 20 years. She was a member of the
Beaver Harbour United Baptist Church and Granite Chapter #15 O.E.S. St. George.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and camping.

ROBERT EVERETT - Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on
January 10, 2002, Mr. Robert Everett Parks of Beaver Harbour, husband of the
late Lorena (Akerley) Parks. Born in Mascarene on January 2, 1909. He was a son
of the late Robert and Ethel (Seamans) Parks. He is survived by his two
brothers, Tilley (Mildred) and Hazen, both of St. George; two sisters, Sarah,
Mrs. Earle Calder, of Deer Island and Alberta, Mrs. Carson Cooke of Letang;
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Hugh, Raymond
and Doug and four sisters, Rose McClure, Ethel Miner, Lila Leeman and Lillian
Calder. Bob was a welder by trade. He worked at his trade for over 50 years. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved travelling. He was a member of the Beaver
Harbour United Baptist Church and the Gideon Society.

ALVIN ISAAC - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB
on February 4, 2002, Mr. Alvin Isaac Young of Pennfield, NB, husband of the late
Lela A. (Whittier) Young, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born in
Pennfield on March 12, 1915, he was a son of the late George and Maude (Trynor)
Young. A loving father and grandfather, Alvin is survived by one son; Roger and
his wife, Mary of Canal, three daughters; Anita, Mrs. Thomas Hawkins, Lori, Mrs.
Danny Hill and Sheila, Mrs. Hal Hardy, all of Pennfield, four grandchildren;
Chris Young (Tina), Amy Hill (Dennis), Scott Hill (Sara) and Randy Bayers (Mary
Ellen); three great grandchildren; Ryan and Shelby Hardy and Chris Hawkins; two
brothers; Clarence of Blacks Harbour and Earl (Frances) of St. Stephen; three
sisters; Rita Kingette of St. Stephen; Evelyn (Alton) Hewett of Calais, Maine;
and Esther (Merle) Johnson of St. Stephen; one special son-in-law; Burt Bayers
(Joan Kinney) of St. Stephen and one special sister-in-law; Mrs. Gladys Young of
Pennfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife,
one granddaughter, Trina Rose Hill; one brother; Arnold and one sister; Louise
Beck-Woods.
Alvin was a Veteran of WWII. He served with the Saint John
Fusilliers from July 1942-Sept. 1945. He served with a special Honor Guard for
the Royal Visit during that time. He was a member of the Pennfield United
Baptist Church where he served as Honorary Deacon. He was a member of Royal
Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 Black’s Harbour and a member of the Fundy Tide
Seniors Club.
Resting at the Pennfield United Baptist Church from where the
service will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM. Interment in the Pennfield Rural
Cemetery. Visiting at the Church on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Wednesday
from 10 am until noon. Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 will hold their

AGNES GERTRUDE - After a lengthy illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital
on February 6, 2002, Mrs. Agnes Gertrude (Lloyd) Justason of Pocologan, NB, wife
of Ernest William Justason. Born in Pocologan on July 10, 1927, she was a
daughter of the late Vernon and Mabel (Mealey) Lloyd. She is survived by her
husband, four sons; Doug (Lorraine), Eugene, Randy (Heather), and Kevin, all of
Pocologan, one daughter; Joyce MacQuarrie (Mike) of Pennfield, twelve
grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister; Margaret Merritt (Alan) of
Oromocto, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons;
John and Allison and one sister; Mary Broad. Agnes had worked at Shaw &

2002 following a lengthy illness Mr. Roy (Buddy) Harry Bradford of Utopia, N.B.
husband of Jean (Burris) Bradford. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on April 2, 1928
he was a son of the late Donald and Cora (Burrell) Bradford Sr. A loving
husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife; one son
Kalvin (Lynda) of Seattle, WA; three daughters Beverley Frost (Garry) of Bonny
River, Coleen Schmiedendorf (Paul) of Cambridge, ON and Maureen Bradford of
Utopia; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers Donald
(Evelyn) of Utopia and Freddie (Alice) of Hampton, N.B.; four sisters Delores
Lockhart (Doug) and Irene Gagnon (Louis) both of Blacks Harbour, Judy Bradford
of Niagara Falls, ON and Twilah Rhynold (Leo) of Beaver Harbour, several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Burrell and Harold and four
sisters Anne Gaudett, Stella Steeves, Prena Deveau and Donaldine McGarrigle.
Buddy as he was known to all his many friends and family was an avid
outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the
N.B. Fish and Game Association. Prior to retirement Buddy was employed with
Connors Brothers as an electrical supervisor for 44 years.

Temperance Vale on February 20, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and
Emma Marguerite (Shriver) Stairs and stepfather, Hilton Stairs. A loving mother
and grandmother, Rosalie is survived by two sons, Danny (Alicia) and Timmy
(Carrie) both of Pennfield; one daughter, Joleen Bradley (Colby) of Elmsville
and four grandchildren, Aston, Zackery, Jenna and Riley; six brothers, Dalton
(Hilda), Eugene (Doris), both of Stairshill, NB; Bert (Frances) of Nackawic;
Donnie (Barb) of Ontario; Paul (Carol) of Millville and Peter (Carlene) of
Temperance Vale, NB; four sisters, Alda Winea (Sam) of Kingston, NS; Audrey
McDermid (Jack) of Ontario; Darlene Reay (Dave) of Ontario and Ella Stairs of
Ontario; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friend, Janice
Stewart. She was predeceased by two sisters, Juinta Kilpatrick and Shona
Stalker. Rosalie had been a Teller at the Bank of Nova Scotia, St. George Branch
for many years. She was a part owner of Debbie Rose Fashions in the St. George
Mall for several years. Later on, she was employed by G. W. Driver Training
School as Manager of Student Services. She was a member of the St. George
Curling Club, the NB Economic Forum and the NB Association of Career Colleges.
She enjoyed walking, reading, knitting and curling. Her greatest pleasure was
her grandchildren.

ERNEST ROSCOE "Ernie" - Peacefully at his residence, 3 Mountain Road, Blacks
Harbour, NB on May 12, 2002, Mr. Ernest Roscoe Wilcox, husband of Anita
(Dahlgren) Wilcox. Born in Lubec, Maine on June 12, 1928, he was a son of the
late Cecil and Ona (Benson) Wilcox. Ernest was married to Myrna May Simms for 40
years until her passing May 23, 1990. They had two daughters; Sandra (Tardif)
Gregg (Jack) of Saint John and Marsha Trynor (John) of St. George; two
grandsons; Christopher Tardif of Saint John and Donald Trynor of Fredericton. In
1991, he married Anita and enlarged his family to add two step-daughters,
Candice Blinn (Douglas) of Digby, Nova Scotia and Tanya Stuart (Dean) of Church
Point, Nova Scotia along with five step-grandchildren; Atina and Magen Blinn and
Haley, Jordan, and Brittney Stuart. He is also survived by four brothers; Roger
(Lois) and Vinton (Leona) both of Utopia; Lloyd (Debra) of Fredericton and
Gerald (Marcia) of Saint John; two sisters; Mary Thorne (John) of Saint John and
Rose Mitchell (Roland) of Utopia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In
addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by one son, Ernest Blake Wilcox.
Before retiring, Ernest had worked for Connors Bros. for 50 years. A loving
husband, father and grandfather, he was a member of the Wesleyan Church and was
very active in church functions. He was an avid curler and belonged to the
Brunswick Curling Club. He was a member of the Charlotte County Board of Trade
and Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 Blacks Harbour for many years. He
enjoyed fishing, darts, and especially loved his flowers. Ernest enjoyed life
until the very end.

of her family and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

granddaughters, Krista Gaudett of Glace Bay, NS and Paula Pinchin of Dartmouth,
NS; one grandson, Jimmy Pinchin (Christabelle) of Dartmouth, NS; one great
grandson, Jacob Pinchin and one great granddaughter, Courtney Gaudett; two
sisters, Iva Lambert of Stuart Town and Muriel Hawkins of Beaver Harbour;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lester
Stuart and Bernard Lambert and one sister, Gertrude Hatt. Lena had worked for
Connors Bros. for over 40 years before retiring. She was a member of the
Lamberts Cove Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bird watching.

BURRELL CLARENCE - Unexpectedly at his residence, 5156 Route 1, Pennfield,
NB on August 3, 2002, Mr. Burrell Clarence Gaudette, husband of Doreen (Palk)
Gaudette. Born in Blacks Harbour on July 5, 1953, he was the son of the late
Clarence and Ann Marie (Bradford) Gaudette. A loving husband, father and
brother, he is survived by his wife; one son, Thomas of Petawawa, Ontario; one
sister, Faith Gagne of Blacks Harbour; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
cousins and many, many friends. Burrell was an electrician by trade, having
worked for various companies, including Connors Bros. and Saint John
Shipbuilding. He was presently employed with Southwest Electrical and Security
in St. Stephen. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and boating. He truly
enjoyed life to the fullest.

seven grandchildren; Trent (Stephanie) and Jaret (Nicole) Hooper, both of St.
George; Doug Quigley of B. C.; Richard Moffitt of Bangor, Maine; Wendy Moffitt
of Indiana, Lori Quigley of California and Larry (Lawrence) Moffitt of Bangor,
Maine; six great grandsons and one special great granddaughter, Hannah Ruth; two
sisters, Mabel Justason of St. Andrews and Laura Cooke (Blair) of Back Bay;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by
two brothers, Willard and Lawrence Holmes and one sister, Blanche Grant. Cora
was a member of the Letete Christian Church where she had been the organist for
70 years. Music was her main interest in life, coming from a musically talented
family. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Women's Missionary
Society.

35 years, working both in the food service industry as well as a labourer. An
avid baker and cook, Bernice operated the canteen at McLean's beach until its
closure. She also operated the canteens at Fundy Arena and No. 10 Cafeteria,
finally retiring from No. 14 Warehouse. She was a member of the Blacks Harbour
Wesleyan Church, an active member of the Harbour Lights Seniors and the Blacks
Harbour Women's Institute. She enjoyed curling and bingo. An avid "CB'r",
she was known by her handle "Chile".

his retirement years around his home with his family and friends. He enjoyed his
drives in his truck and especially spending time with his grandchildren Reba and

and nephews. Besides her parents, she also predeceased by: two brothers: Bill
and Jack and two sisters: Lois Guthrie and Audrey Guthrie. Bessie was a devoted
caregiver most of her life, both in her large family as well as others. She had
been the administrator of Harbourside Manor in Beaver Harbour for eight years
until its closure and prior to that manor homes in Ontario. She was a member of
the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour and Sussex while she resided there. A
devoted Christian, she also was a member of the Wesleyan Womans Missionary
Society.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church in Blacks Harbour from where
the service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in the
spring at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Monday from
2-4 and 7-9 pm in her memory, donations may be made to the Charlotte County
Cancer Society, the Wesleyan Church Blacks Harbour or a charity of the donors

THELMA PAULINE - At Blacks Harbour, NB on March 4, 2003, Mrs. Thelma Pauline
(Wright) Leavitt, wife of the late Watson Leavitt of Blacks Harbour, NB.
Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on August 21, 1916, she was a
daughter of the late Grovenor and Dora (Justason) Wright.
A loving mother and grandmother, Thelma is survived by two
daughters, Pauline Beney of Sudbury, Ontario, Linda, Mrs. Terence Wright, of
Lower Sackville, N.S.; one granddaughter, Judith Fudge of Elliot Lade, Ontario;
three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick of Lake Elgin, Ontario and
Donald, of Pennfield, NB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was
pre-deceased by her husband and two sons, Blair and Gerry; one sister, Viola
Hooper; and four brothers, James, Preston Gerald and Keith.
In her early years, Thelma had been employed by Connors
Brothers Ltd. in Blacks Harbour as a sardine packer until her retirement. She
also was a member of the Calvary United Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour.
By her request, there will be no visitation or service. A
graveside service will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the

DONALD WILLARD "Don" - Following a brief illness, at the Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, March 21, 2003, Mr. Donald Willard Wright of
Pennfield, NB.
Born in Beaver Harbour, NB he was a son of the late Grovenor
and Dora E. (Justason) Wright. Don is survived by one son, Daniel (Nellie)
Wright of Moncton, NB; a step-daughter, Muriel Sawler of Pennfield, NB; 13
grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick of Lake Elgin,
Ontario; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was pre-deceased by one son,
Edward; a companion, Maria Savoy; four brothers, James, Preston, Gerald and
Keith; two sisters, Thelma Leavitt and Viola Hooper.
In his early years, Don was employed as a laborer for INCO in
Ontario and upon his return to New Brunswick, he worked for Connors Bros. Ltd.
and later as a night-watchman for Coastal Transport until his retirement.
Don was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch # 40, St. George, NB.

Ada Irene Dingee, wife of the late Archie Dingee, passed away peacefully at her residence in
Pocologan on Friday, March 21, 2003 while being cared for by her daughters. Born
in Rosebank, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Elizabeth (MacArthur)
Ramsay. Ada was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who had
dedicated her life to the care of her family and service to others, having been
a member of the Jewel Rebekah Lodge, and a former secretary of the Pocologan
Home and School Association. Survived by two daughters, Gail Kimm, her husband
Randall of Fredericton, NB, Carol Dingee, her husband Ron Kolody of Vancouver,
BC, grandson, Jeffery King, his wife Jody, and granddaughter, Lara Kolody. Also
survived by two sisters, Ruth Horne of Burlington, Ontario, and Vera Rayner of
Alberton, Prince Edward Island, as well as a dear friend Ethel Dingee, and
several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie,
four brothers, Vernon, Carlyle, Russell, Leland, and her parents.

2003, Mrs. Dorothy T. Giggie, wife of the late Philip E. Giggie of 40 Deadman's

was a daughter of the late Alexander and Marguerite (Leonard) Maxwell. A loving
mother and grandmother, Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Eleanor, Mrs. A.
John Van de Sande of Quispamsis, Donna Giggie of Blacks Harbour, and Janet, Mrs.
Dale MacElwain of Woodstock, NB; seven grandchildren, Patricia, Suzanne,
Barbara, Joanne, David, Peter and Rachel; six great-grandchildren, Meagan,
Maxwell, John, Elizabeth, Thomas and Spencer; one sister, Frances Allen; several

GEORGE SVERRE - Of Blacks Harbour, died at his residence on April 18, 2003.
He was born in Norway and was the son of the late Kristen and Gertrude Handeland
and husband of the late Jackie (Rarden) Handeland. He is survived by three
children, Cindy, Donnie, Joe and several grandchildren. Also survived by one
brother Clarence Handeland (Katherine), two sisters Sonja Glionna and Dagney
Snow. Predeceased by one sister Sylvia Armstrong.
Following cremation a memorial service will take place at the
United Pentecostal Church in Blacks Harbour on Friday April 25, 2003 at 2 pm
with Rev. Vernon Bustard officiating. Interment to follow the service in the

Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Back Bay, NB on March 17, 1917, she was a daughter
of the late Joseph and Ella (Leavitt) Mitchell. Dana is survived by a special
nephew, Jeffrey Holland (Janet) of St. Clements, Ontario; four grand-children,
Nicole, Jody, Shawn, and Kelly; two brothers, Sam (Erma) and Thomas Mitchell,
both of Back Bay, NB. She was pre-deceased, besides her husband, by one
daughter, Susan Sellers. Dana had been employed by Connors Brothers as a packer

WALTER MOWRY - of Pennfield. Son of the late Dr. C. M. Pratt and Elthea
MacDowell Pratt passed away June 1, 2003. Walter was predeceased by his wife
Laura (Young) Pratt. He is survived by his two daughters Lucille (Robert) Thorne
of Hammond River and Maria Wilband of Pennfield. His brother Charles (Donna)
Pratt and niece Heather (Peter) Adams of Saint John and several other nieces and
nephews. His step grandchildren Christine Thorne of Hammond River, Robbie (Gail)
Thorne of Alberta, Troy (Tina) Thorne of Alberta, and David (Carrie) Thorne of
Saint John. Walter was a school teacher who joined the Air Force in 1958 and
retired with the rank of Captain in August of 1974. After retiring, to keep
active he delivered mail along Pennfield Ridge. He enjoyed vegetable gardening
and wood working. He will be missed by cousins Jack and Ernest MacDowell of
Pennfield and all who knew him. Walter's walk through life will be greatly
missed by many, and may the Good Lord take a liking to him. Burial will take
place Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 3 p.m. beside his wife at Community Cemetery on
Pennfield Ridge.

Lottie (Justason) Murray. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by
one son, Burton (Helene) Chambers of Pennfield, two daughters, Marilyn (Mrs.
Eldon Hanley) of Pennfield, and Edra (Mrs. Michael Tucker) of Lower Sackville,
Nova Scotia; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Blair Murray
(Lillian) of Canal, NB; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Madeline Murray of Pennfield;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, she was
pre-deceased by two brothers, Ross and Lloyd, and one sister, Doris Murray.
Frances enjoyed knitting, and was a member of the Pennfield Baptist Church and
the Fundy Tide Seniors. The family would like to thank management and staff, and
many friends at Passamaquoddy Lodge for making Mom's stay enjoyable.

Hospital with her family present on July 17, 2003, Mrs. Eva Mae (Chase) Bright
wife of the late Joseph E. Bright of Pocologan, NB. Born in Pocologan on January
22, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Dixon) Chase. A
loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one daughter,
Marjorie, Mrs. Robert Bodaly of Saint John, one grandson, Stephen and his wife
Darlene of Saint John, one great granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn and one great
grandson, Kody William both of Saint John; four sisters, Annie Hardie, of Saint
John, Kathleen Campbell and Mildred Boyd both of Pocologan, and Marion Boyd of
Pennfield, several nieces, nephews. Predeceased by eight sisters and five
brothers. Eva was an avid gardener who enjoyed her garden, prior to her

as well as custodian for the Board of School Trustees at Pocologan School for

mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Millie is survived by two daughters,
Eileen Babineau (Leon) of Pocologan, NB and Mary Graham of Saint John, NB; one
son, Terry Boyd (Laurie) of Second Falls, NB; 18 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews;
three sisters, Annie Hardy of Saint John, NB, Marion Boyd of Pennfield, NB and
Kathleen Campbell of Pocologan, NB. She was pre-deceased by one son, Leonard L.
Boyd and one daughter, Margaret Rose Ryan; five brothers and eight sisters.
Before her retirement, Millie was employed by the Shaw Ellis Clam Factory. She
loved her family and friends, and enjoyed spending time sewing and quilting. In
her latter years, she enjoyed watching the ladies in the Friendly Circle
Quilting Club.

Born at Blacks Harbour, NB on December 18, 1919, he was a son
of the late Mayberry and Elizabeth (Lovatt) Cook. A loving husband, father,
grandfather and great grandfather Maurice is survived by seven daughters, Rose
Mahar (Roger) of Blacks Harbour, Eunice Scott (Claude), Bernice Cook (Stephen),
Judy McGarrigle (Wayne) all of Pennfield, Margaret Brohm (Steve) of Sharon, Ont,
Pam Palk of Blacks Harbour and Barbara Leavitt of Beaver Harbour; one son Dale C
(Gwen) of Norton, NB; one sister Marg Galvin of Hamilton, Ont; one son-in-law
Wayne Gardiner; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews
and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joan Gardiner and grandson
Nathan McGarrigle.
Maurice enjoyed being around his family and the company of
people. He especially enjoyed his woodpile and wildlife. He had been employed at
Connors Brothers Ltd. for over 40 years and was a veteran of WWII having served
in Italy, North Africa and Spain having been wounded in action.

Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on September 7th, 2003, following a
brief illness, Mrs. Cora Mae (Stanton) Theriault, wife of Herbert Theriault of
Utopia, NB. Born on August 20, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and
Lizzie (Height) Stanton. A loving wife, aunt and special aunt, she is survived
by her husband of 75 years, Herbert; two nieces, Elizabeth Kingston (wife of the
late Charles Kingston) of Pennfield, Hazel (Mrs. Harold Gillespie) of Utopia;
special great-niece, Veronica (Mrs. Roger St. Onge) of St. George; several
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cora was the last surviving
member of her immediate family. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Curtis and
Burwell, two sisters Rita and Hilda. Cora was employed in the Labeling Room at
Connors Bros. Ltd. for over 20 years. In her early years, she loved knitting and
crocheting, and enjoyed baking. She was a member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan
Church.

Born in Bethel, NB on June 26, 1919, she was a daughter of
the late Andrew and Eva Pearl (Fisher) Oliver. A loving mother and grandmother,
Laura is survived by her companion, Tom Mitchell of Back Bay; two sons, Alfred
(Blanche) Borthwick of Back Bay, NB and David (Sheila) Borthwick of Kelly Road,
NB; one daughter-in-law, Mary Borthwick of St. George; 6 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren; one brother, James Oliver of Second Falls; one sister,
Joyce Stuart of Deer Island; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was
pre-deceased by her husband, John, and one son, Burton.
Laura was an avid crotchetier. She loved her car and
traveling. She was the St. Croix Courier correspondent for the Back Bay news.

JUSTASON, DOROTHY JANE - Te death of
Dorothy Jane Justason, of Magazine Street, Saint John, occurred at the Saint
John Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 18th, 2003. Born on Campobello
Island, she was the wife of the late Harold W. Justason and daughter of the late
Albert and Mary Pauline (Calder) Lank. Dorothy lived in Black's Harbour for many
years, where she worked for Connors Bros Ltd. and was past President of the
Women's Liberal Association.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Doak (Charles)
of Rothesay, NB, one brother, Harold W. Justason Jr. of Scarborough, ON, one
sister, Elizabeth Lewrey of Florida, grandchildren: Susan, Tanya and Daniel
Justason, D. Jayne Brodersen (Philip), Shona Stubbs (Peter), Lisa Cameron
(Daniel), Shelley Dauphinee (Timothy) and step-granddaughter, Marlene O'Neill,
nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Florence Newman and three
brothers, Vincent, Ralph and Alexander Lank.

devoted to her faith, family, and friends. She was a member of the Calvary
United Baptist Church Choir, for more than fifty years, a member of the Women's
Missionary Society, and the Willing Workers. She doted on her grandchildren and
loved to travel. She was an avid gardener, and loved flowers.

(Harold) of Utopia, NB; nephews, Clyde Stanton of Los Angeles, CA and Carmen
Stanton of Granville, NS; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and his 'most
special house keeper in the world’, Lisa Breau of Pennfield, NB. Besides his
loving wife Cora, he was pre-deceased by two brothers, Gordon and Vernon; three
sisters, Marjorie, Inez and Lena. Herbie was the last surviving member of his
immediate family.
Herbie was a long time member of the Wesleyan Church in
Blacks Harbour. He was a self-employed fisherman for many years. He enjoyed
hunting and fishing, and loved eating lobster. In his earlier years, he enjoyed
bowling.

VIDA GRACE - The death of Mrs. Vida Eldridge, age 99 years, wife of the late
Harold F. Eldridge, occurred on Monday, May 24, 2004 at the Loch Lomond Villa
Nursing Home, Saint John, NB.
Born February 9, 1905 in Saint John, a daughter of the late
Sidney and Emily (Burgess) Gibbs, graduated from Saint John High School, worked
for NB Telephone Company, the Registered Nurses Association, the Red Cross, the
National Film Board and Centracare. Vida was a member of the Lancaster Baptist
Church and Beaver Harbour Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles
and doing needlepoint. Vida and Harold enjoyed many years of traveling and
entertaining their many friends.
Survived by her daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Ernest
Eldridge; granddaughter, Miriam Hartley) Avery; grandson, Tom (Marsha) Eldridge;
great-grandchildren, Heather Avery, Cailin (Corey) Richard and Devon Eldridge
and special caregiver, Gloria Perrin. Predeceased by her husband, parents and
sister, Vera Fairbrother.

Funeral Home. Following cremation a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday,

Born at Weymouth North, Digby Co., NS., on October 6, 1910,
she was a daughter of the late Frederick George Gaudet and Ethel Delila (Weaver)
Gaudet.
Eleanor is survived by one son; Cleveland Justason (Mary Ann)
of Pennfield; one sister; Ethel Doucette of Blacks Harbour; two half sisters;
Julia Hawkins of St. George, NB; and Juanita Cheney of Saint John; one half
brother; Stephen Fowler Frederick Gaudett of L’Etete, NB; several nieces,
nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers; Hanford Gaudett, and William
Gaudett; one sister Kathleen Cooke; two half sisters, Velma Leeman; and Jenny
Patterson.
Eleanor worked many years as a cook at the Fundy Health
Center, Blacks Harbour, NB. She was a member of the Harbour View Senior Citizens
Club, a member of the Calvary United Baptist Church, Past Grand Mistress, Right
Worshipful Grand Lodge, NB, a member of the Crystal Chapter # 13, Saint John,
NB, Honorary member of Pythian Sisters Maple Leaf # 30, Milltown, NB, and a
member of the L.O.B.A. # 934 Lepreau, NB., over 50 years.

the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB, on September 2, 2004, Mr. Lorne
Elmer McGarrigle, husband of Helen (Justason) McGarrigle, of Blacks Harbour, NB,
and the late Donaldine (Bradford) McGarrigle.
Born at St. George, NB, on April 4, 1926, he was a son of the
late James M. and Seretha (Leavitt) McGarrigle. A loving husband, father,
grandfather, and brother, Lorne is survived, besides his wife, by three sons,
Lorne Jr. “Sonny” (Pam) of Halifax, NS, Colin (Ruth) of Pennfield, NB, Frank
(Norene) of Blacks Harbour, NB; four daughters, Brenda (Norman) Gaudet of
Pennfield, NB, Lorna (Gorman) Harris of Utopia, Mary Bustard of Langley, BC,
Coralee Sommerville of Baxter’s Corner, NB; 19 grandchildren, 13 great –
grandchildren; five brothers, James McGarrigle, Kenny McGarrigle, Gerald
McGarrigle, all of Blacks Harbour, NB, Everett McGarrigle of Tracadie, NB, and
Wesley McGarrigle, of St. Stephen, NB; three sisters, Florence Leavitt of Back
Bay, NB, Doris Nason, of St. George, NB, and Emma Maillet, of Blacks Harbour,
NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife,
Donaldine, and two sisters, Mary Walsh and Linda Matheson, and one brother
William.
Lorne worked for 54 years for Connors Bros. Ltd. as a
labourer. For the last 15 years of his working career, he worked at the Fundy
Arena until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and took active part in
the local sports circuit, having been one of the founding fathers of the Blacks
Harbour Silver Kings and former owner of the Blacks Harbour Junior Silver Kings.
He also was Head Coach and General Manager for the former Blacks Harbour
Brunswick's Baseball Team for many years. He enjoyed fishing and claming and was
an honorary member of the Charlotte Fundy Kins Club.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour, NB, from
where the service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Bruce Cheney officiating. Visiting hours at the church on Friday and Saturday,

PARKS, TILLEY BEACHER - The death of Tilley
Beacher Parks, Manor Road, St. George, NB, husband of Mildred Lillian (Leavitt)
Parks, occurred on September 7, 2004 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St.
Stephen, NB. Born in St. George, NB on September 8, 1924, he was a son of the
late Robert E. and Ethel (Seamans) Parks.
A veteran of WWII, Tilley served in Europe, France, Belgium
and England with the Calgary Highlanders Canadian Infantry Company 6 Platoon. He
was a plumber by trade.
Surviving besides his wife, Mildred, are five sons, Larry
Parks (Bonnie), Michael, both of St. George, Richard (Sally), Robert (Penny),
and James, all of Manor Road, Canal; one daughter, Brenda Hanley (Carl) of Back
Bay; one brother, Hazen of St. George; two sisters, Sadie Calder of Deer Island
and Alberta Cooke (Carson) of L’Etang; eight grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a
daughter, Lori Jane; four brothers, Hughie, Raymond, Douglas and Robert; and
four sisters, Lila, Ethel, Rose and Lilly.

- The death of Mr.
Gilbert "Gib" Edwin Eldridge, husband of Amy Mary (Birch)
Eldridge occurred unexpectedly at his residence in Beaver Harbour, NB on
Wednesday October 6, 2004.
Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on July 21, 1919, he was a son of
the late Oscar and Mildred (Cross) Eldridge. Gib worked as a Fisheries Officer,
over 35 years, covering St. Andrews and St. George, NB. A survivor of the Trentonim,
Gib served overseas with the Navy, in WWII. A member of the Blacks Harbour
Legion, Branch # 39. Surviving besides his wife Amy, is a son Allan Eldridge
(Dawn) of St. George, NB., one sister Myrtle (Honey) Ralston of Beaver Harbour,
three grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, and Wendy, four nieces, Norma, Hazel, Cindy,
and Faye.

Mae Steen, age 83, wife of William Allan Steen, occurred on Sunday, October 24,
2004, at her residence in Breadalbane, NB.
Born in Lubec, Maine, on December 8, 1920, she was a daughter
of the late Maxwell Percy and Charlotte Lottie (Patterson) Wilcox. A loving
wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, William; a son,
Russell (Olive) of Breadalbane, NB; a daughter, Sheila McCourt (David) of Arden,
ON; three grandchildren, Patrick McCourt, Julie Morrison (Colin), and Diane
Scharfenberg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the last surviving
member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ellen
Scharfenberg; two sisters, Alberta Lane and Lena Donohue; two brothers, Irvin
Wilcox and Max Wilcox. Blanche was a member of the St. George Baptist Church.

John, NB on November 15, 2004. Born in Castalia, Grand Manan, NB on April 28,
1909, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Cora (Fleet) Urquhart. A beloved
mother and grandmother, Naomie is survived by one daughter, Audrey (Sheldon)
Wilcox of Pennfield; three sons, Clinton (Joan) of St. Stephen, Austin (Mary) of
Blacks Harbour, Hanley (Kay) of Greentown, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Ruth (Weldon)
Theriault and Lillias (Melvin) Justason, all of Pennfield. She was pre-deceased
by one brother, Gordon (Anna) Urquhart.

Born in Honey Dale, NB on March 4, 1949, he was a son of
Madeline A. (McLaughlin) and the late Melvin Scott.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, he is
survived besides his wife, by his mother, Madeline; one son, Greg (Joanne) Scott
of Blacks Harbour; one daughter, Jennifer Scott of Pennfield; four
grandchildren, Kendall, Caleb, Kala and Kristy; three brothers, Eric (Emily)
Scott of Pennfield, Brian Scott of Fredericton, James (Mary) of Blacks Harbour;
three sisters, Melva Murray of Blacks Harbour, Brenda (Malcolm) Tucker of
Pennfield and Juliette Scott of St. Stephen; several aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and cousins. Claude was pre-deceased by two brothers, Allan and Stephen.
Claude had been employed with Connors Brothers Ltd. for over
30 years as a By-products Operator at the Fish Meal Plant. He was an avid hunter
and fisherman who loved the outdoors.

Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on January 12, 2005, Mr. Arthur Edward
Williams, in his 57th year, husband of Lois Arlene (Beney) Williams of
Pocologan, NB.
Artie was born in Saint John on February 12, 1948, and was a
son of the late Ulmont (Benny) Arthur Williams and Doris Melvina (Justason)
Williams.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Artie is
survived, besides his wife, by one daughter, Lori (Junior Burt) of Pocologan;
two sons, Michael (Daphne) Williams of St. George and Russell Williams of
Pocologan; three grandchildren, Kyle Gagnon, Julia Gagnon and Emma Williams; one
sister, Nancy (Mrs. Donald Waugh) of Saint John; two aunts, Louise (Art) Gillmor
of Bonny River and Clara McLean of New River; three uncles, Maurice Justason of
Oromocto, Ernest Justason of Red Head and Murray Justason of Sussex; several
cousins, two nieces and two nephews. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Mary
Eileen.
Artie had been an employee at the Atlantic Sugar Refinery for
16 years. Artie was an avid hunter, flounder fisherman and enjoyed outdoor
activities, especially at his camp. At Artie’s request, there will be no
visiting at the funeral home.

Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 15th at 2 pm, with Rev.
Bruce Alcorn officiating.

family, the death of Malby Leason Spicer, husband of Mary Laura (Tidd) Spicer,

Born in Harbourville, NS on February 26, 1924, he was a son
of the late Emerson Lorne and Alice Christine (Swindul) Spicer.
Malby is survived, besides his wife, by one daughter, Sharon
(Neil) Boudreau of Beaver Harbour; three sons, Ronald (Mary Lou) of St. Stephen,
Bedford (Paula) and Robert (Heather), all of Beaver Harbour; eight
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Ogilvy of
Harbourville, NS and Alice (Carmen) Hazelwood of Kingston, NS; many nieces,
nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Glenna.
Malby worked as a Foreman for Connors Bros. Ltd. in Beaver
Harbour for 34 years. A loving father, grandfather and family man, he loved
playing the guitar and singing in the choir of the Beaver Harbour Baptist
Church, of which he was a member.

- The death of Edwin
William Justason, 90, of Pennfield, husband of 59 years to Avril (Wright)
Justason, occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on January
27, 2005.
Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on December 23, 1914, he was a son
of the late Edwin Colin and Alma Gertrude (Eldridge) Justason. Besides his wife,
Avril, Edwin is survived by three daughters, Marsha Duncan (Daniel) of Oakville,
ON, Denise Stewart (Wayne) of Pennfield, and Geraldine Rogers (James) of Saint
John; one sister, Hilda Smith of Florida; and seven grandchildren. He was
pre-deceased by one brother, Harold and two sisters, Muriel and Leila.
For over 30 years, Edwin worked at various jobs for Connors
Bros. Ltd. in Blacks Harbour. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch #39, Blacks Harbour for 50 years, and was a member of the Pennfield Lions
Club. He had a great love of hockey, and was a coach to many children in the
intramural ages from youngsters to teens. He also had a passion for watching
football on TV.
The service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial
Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB, on
Sunday, January 30th, at 2 pm, with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Visiting at

McGarrigle, husband of the late Sarah M. (Stewart) McGarrigle, formerly of
Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in St. George, NB on November 22, 1926, he was a son of
the late James M. and Seretha (Leavitt) McGarrigle. A loving father, grandfather
and brother, he is survived by one son, George (Debbie) of Pennfield; one
daughter, Syritha McGarrigle of Blacks Harbour; two grandchildren, Brent and
Alisha McGarrigle; two great-grandchildren, Hillary and Kyle; four brothers,
Kenny (Wanita), Gerald McGarrigle, all of Blacks Harbour, Everett (Thelma) of
Tracadie, and Wesley (Pam) of St. Stephen; three sisters, Florence Leavitt of

James was a labourer/machine operator for Connors Bros. Ltd.,
Can & Cover Division, for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a
quiet man who enjoyed TV and meeting his friends at the St. George Mall. Though
his stay at Passamaquoddy Lodge was brief, he made a whole new family

WRIGHT, HERBERT "EMERSON" - Unexpectedly at his
residence in Beaver Harbour, NB on February 8, 2005, Mr. H. Emerson Wright,
husband of the late Joan Isabel (Grant) Wright. Born in Beaver Harbour on April
21, 1939, he was a son of the late Harry T. and Helen Belle (Fountain) Wright. A
loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by three sons, Derrick
(Jennifer) Wright of St. George, Peter (Wendy) Wright and Ricky Wright (Velda
Leslie), both of Beaver Harbour; one daughter, Sarah (Craig Hamilton) of Beaver
Harbour; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Mallory, Melissa, Benjamin, Katlyn, and
Nicholas; one brother, Barton Wright (Joanne Wilson) of Bay Side, NB; several
nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, he was pre-deceased by two
sisters, Eloise Wright and Greta McRae.
Prior to his retirement, Emerson was employed by Heritage
Salmon, and previously by Connors Bros. Ltd. in Beaver Harbour as a Cold Storage
Foreman, where he worked for 28 years. He loved fishing and hunting and was an
avid gardener. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball.

WHALEN, RICHARD WILEY - Richard Whalen,
husband of Linda Whalen, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges
L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, March 9th, 2005. Born in Moncton, October 17,
1948, he was the son of Margaret Whalen (Coates) and the late Paul Whalen. He
was an inspection manager NB Coastal, Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Richard
had a passion for salmon fly fishing on the Miramichi, he enjoyed classic Chevs
and was a member of the Mountain View United Church. Richard was a kind man who
was always willing to help others.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda (McDowell), a
daughter Jillian at home, a son Mark (Linda) of Dartmouth, his mother Margaret,
brothers Jim (Laura), Danny (Margaret Ann) all of Moncton, a sister Cathy
LeBlanc (Gilles) of Oakville, ON., in-laws Keith & Clara McDowell, Wayne
& Sally McDowell, Peggy & Bill Justason all of Pennfield, NB as well as
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Paul in 1972.
At Richard's request, there will be no visitation prior to
the funeral service to be held from Mountain View United Church, 85 MacBeath
Avenue, Moncton on Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 AM. A reception for Richard's
friends and family will follow the service in the church hall. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Oncology Center or the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr.
Georges L. Dumont Hospital would be appreciated.

Wickett. Besides her beloved husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her
son, Leo; daughter Lelia (in infancy); sister, Martha; brothers, Basil, Otis,
and Melvin; and son-in-law, Sherwood Tidd.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was
the oldest living member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church. A long-time
resident of Blacks Harbour, she worked for many years at Connors Bros. Ltd.

The death of Mrs. Jean Barbara Hanlon, 58, of Campbell Street, St. George, devoted wife to
Dave William Hanlon, occurred on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Saint John
Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Chatham, NB on November 19, 1946, she
was a daughter of the late Theodore Wilkins and Ruth (Walls) Harrison. Surviving
besides her husband, Dave, are her loving children, Tim Hanlon (Loretta) of
Pennfield, Dwayne Hanlon (Stephanie) of Rusagonis, NB; sisters, Deborah Mitton
(Steven) of Hammond River, Nancy Jones (George) of Red Head, Cheryl Harrison of
Saint John; brothers, David Harrison (Sheila) of Quispamsis, Wayne Harrison
(Ross), John Harrison (Vanda), Hayward Harrison (Joyce), Barry Harrison (Cathy),
all of Saint John; cherished grandchildren, Mitchel Hanlon, Kelsey Hanlon, and
Mikayla Hanlon; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held on
Sunday, June 5th at 2 pm from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at St. George
Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. In Jean's memory, donations to

MORDEN, JOHN CRAWFORD - Peacefully while
sleeping, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, Mr. John Crawford
Morden, 85, of Pocologan, NB, husband of the late Winnifred Jean (Ellis) Morden.
Born in Redvers, Saskatchewan on October 13, 1919, he was the son of John Albert
and Mary Ann (Atkins) Morden. A loving father, he is survived by one son, John
(Gisele) Morden of Pocologan; two grandchildren, Tracy and Scott Morden of
Pocologan; one sister, Mildred Amelia Thorne of Moosomin, Saskatchewan; several
nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother at infancy, Gerald Arthur
Morden.
John joined the R.C.A.F. in September 1940 and was discharged
in the fall of 1945. In August of 1941, he went to the U.K., and after various
postings in England, volunteered to go to the Middle East. He joined 37 Squadron
(R.A.F.) in January 1942 and operated out of Egypt and the Western Desert. He
completed his tour in July 1942 and returned to Canada where he spent the rest
of the war. In 1947 he joined the R.A.F. and went back to England. He was on the
Berlin Airlift in 1948-49 and did 350 lifts into Berlin. He left the R.A.F. in
1951 after his time was completed and came back to Canada. He the joined
Maritime Central Airways. He retired as Vice President-Operations for Nordair (a
subsidiary of MCA) in 1981.

JUSTASON, MELVIN LESLIE - The death of Mr.
Melvin Leslie Justason of Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, Saint John, NB formerly of
Pennfield, NB, husband of Lillias Marion (Urquhart) Justason occurred at the
Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on July 2, 2005.
Born in Pennfield, NB on July 21, 1924 he was a son of the
late Rueben and Della (Maxwell) Justason. A veteran of WWII serving in the Army,
with the North Shore Regiment, he was employed with the Lake Utopia Paper as a
Stationary Engineer for 17 years. Melvin was a member of Royal Canadian Legion
Branch # 40, St. George, a member of the Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour, a
volunteer Fire Fighter with the Pennfield Fire Dept., and a member of the
Pennfield Seniors Club.
Besides his wife Lillias, he is survived by one son Richard
Justason of Pennfield, NB, one daughter Jane Ryan of Saint John, NB; one brother
Alfred of Vancouver Island, BC; one sisters Bessie McLanaghan (James) of
Pennfield, NB, and one grandchild Catherine Ryan, several nieces, nephews.
Melvin was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church Blacks Harbour, NB, from where
the service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Bruce
Cheney officiating. Visiting at the church will be on Monday, July 4, 2005, from
2 to 4 pm only. Interment will follow in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Donations
to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be

RICHARD, MOISE GERARD - Following a lengthy
illness, the death of Mr. Moise Gerard Richard of Blacks Harbour, NB, Devoted
husband to Florence Lillian (Thompson) Richard, occurred on Saturday July 16,
2005 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, with his family at his
side.
Born in Rogersville, NB, on May 19, 1938, he was a son of the
late Moise Joseph and Alice (Dorin) Richard. Moise was employed with Connors
Brothers, Blacks Harbour as a labourer for a number of years, an avid hunter,
fisherman, he loved the outdoors and had a great love for all animals and was
known for his ability to tame anything. Besides his wife, Florence he leaves to
mourn his children Timmy Richard of St. Stephen, NB, David Richard of Sussex,
NB, Marlene Moffatt (Peter), Darlene Johnson (Wade), all of Blacks Harbour, NB;
Brothers Andrew Richard (Bertha), Frank Richard (Sadie) both of Blacks Harbour,

JUSTASON, DELLA MARIE - Surrounded by her
loving family, at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB, on Monday, August
8, 2005, Mrs. Della Marie (Leavitt) Justason, 95, wife of the late Basil
Clarence Justason, of Blacks Harbour, passed away and went to meet her Lord in
Heaven. Born in Back Bay, NB, on May 12, 1910, she was a daughter of the late
James and Catherine (Hooper) Leavitt. A loving mother, grandmother and great
grandmother, she is survived by two sons, Arthur (Nancy) Card of Pennfield and
James (Phyllis) Justason of Beaver Harbour; two daughters, Marie (Ralph) Turner
and Marlene Justason, both of Blacks Harbour; 21 grandchildren, 42
great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and
cousins. Besides her loving husband, Basil, she was pre-deceased by one
daughter, Joyce, seven sisters and three brothers. She was the last surviving
member of her immediate family.
Prior to her retirement, Della had been employed at Connors
Bros. Ltd. for over 35 years. She was an avid quilter, and she and Basil
traveled many miles on many roads throughout Canada. She was a long term member
of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church and was the oldest surviving member.
Resting at the Wesleyan Church from where the service will be held on Thursday
at 2 pm, followed by interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the
church on Tuesday from 7-9 pm, and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Della’s

HARDY,
STEPHEN FOSTER "Steve" - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on
January 26, 2006, Mr. Stephen Foster Hardy of Saint John. Born at Pocologan on
September 8, 1944, he was the son of the late Perley and Annie (Campbell) Hardy.
He is survived by one daughter, Rustie Anna Lee (Hardy) Osborne, and one son,
Stephen Douglas Hardy; their mother, Judy Stewart; one grandson, Nathaniel; one
granddaughter, Hailey of Newfoundland; step-daughter, Rosemary of Saint John;
two sisters, Gladys LaKing (Skip) of Saint John and Dorothy Westcott; caregiver
and cousin, Marjorie (Bob) Bodaly of Pocologan; several aunts, nieces, nephews
and cousins. Stephen was quite an artist in his own right who sketched some
beautiful scenes. He also wrote many poems and songs.
Honoring Stephen’s wishes, there will be no visiting or
public funeral service. There will be a private graveside service at the
Pennfield Rural Cemetery at a later date. We, the family, wish to thank the
Staff of the Palliative Care Unit, 5C North, 4C North and the Emergency Ward of
the Saint John Regional Hospital for their special care of Steve. In his memory,
donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the

Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on February 12, 2006, Mr. Aubrey Leroy Hatt of
Pennfield, NB, husband of Marjorie (Justason) Hatt.
Born at Lake Utopia, NB, he was a son of the late Wellington
and Ethel (Anderson) Hatt. He is survived by his wife; two daughters; Carolyn
(Carmen) Coulton of Canal, NB; and Sandra (Peter) Hill of Black's Harbor, NB;
five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters; Hilda Christie of
Utopia, NB; Alice (Alonzo) Hall of St. George, NB and Marjorie (Malcolm) Moses
of Black's Harbour, NB; several nieces and nephews. Aubrey was predeceased by
three sisters; Edith, Pearl and Laura; one brother, Arnold Sr.
Aubrey was an independent trucker, a school bus contractor as
well as a local car salesman. He was a Past Master of the St. George Masonic
Lodge F & A.M. #12 as well a Shrine Member in the "Flag Unit" of
the Luxor Temple, Saint John, NB. He was a Past Patron of the O.E.S. #15,
Granite Chapter, St George, NB. In earlier years Aubrey enjoyed curling, hunting
and snow-mobiling. He will be greatly missed by his family and by all of those
who knew him.

"Reginald" Wright, husband of the late Violet (Corbier) Wright,
formerly of Beaver Harbour, NB. Born at Back Bay, NB on December 13, 1930, he
was a son of the late Wendell and Gladys (Hooper) Wright. Reggie is survived by
one son, David Corbier of Saint John, NB; one daughter, Deborah Andrews of
Sacramento, CA; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers,
Martin (Helvie) Wright of Terrace, BC and Frank (Betty) Wright of Beaver
Harbour; three sisters, Shirley Wright of Toronto, ON, Elaine McLeese of Back
Bay and Vivian Gauthier of Blacks Harbour; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Buddy (Darryl). Reggie was a steel worker by
trade, and a self-employed labourer/carpenter.
In earlier years, he was an avid fisherman, loved hunting and
being a handyman. He was the longest surviving resident of the Fundy Nursing

DOUGAN, LAWRENCE HENRY "Larry" - Surrounded by his
loving family, Mr. Lawrence Henry Dougan, husband of the late Mildred Gertrude
(Justason) Dougan, died at his residence in Blacks Harbour, NB on April 21,
2006.
Born in Victoria, BC on May 23, 1919, he was a son of the
late David Henry Dougan and Margaret (Alderdice) Dougan, both of Belfast,
Ireland. He leaves to mourn his special companion, Anita Hennessey; his loving
children, three daughters, Peggy (Murvin) Matheson of Back Bay, Carol Dougan of
Blacks Harbour, Kathy (Bob) Peters of Quispamsis and five sons, Daniel (Judy) of
Riverview, Mike (Marsha) of Blacks Harbour, Tim (Lori) of St. George, Peter
(Diane) of Pennfield and Kenny (Pati) of Blacks Harbour; 14 beloved
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Dougan of
Souris, BC; extended family, Artie (Kathy) Hennessey of Blacks Harbour, Laura
Skodje of Blacks Harbour and Susan (Rob) Mahoney of Pennfield; nine honorary
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry was predeceased by an
infant daughter, Barbara and two brothers, David and Jim.
Larry served in the R.C.A.F. in Pennfield, NB, Calgary, AB
and Scoodic, NB as a firefighter. From there he came to Blacks Harbour to work
for Connors Bros. Ltd. for 26 years, retiring as a foreman in the fishmeal
plant. Larry was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Blacks Harbour Branch
#39, the Brunswick Curling Club and the St. Stephen Golf Club. He was an avid
dart player.

THORNE, OSBORNE ROY - The death of Osborne
Roy Thorne occurred at 9:45 am, June 3, 2006 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. It is with great sadness that the family of Osborne Thorne announces
his passing after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
at the age of 88 years young. Born In Saint John, NB he was the son of the late
William Osborne Thorne and Myrtle Margarot (Devine) Thorne. Osborne was
predeceased by his wife Nadine Elizabeth (Ginson) Thorne, brothers Norman James
Thorne, Ralph William Thorne and sister Gertrude Myrtle (Thorne) Allen. He
graduated from Saint John Vocational School and the NB Agriculture &
Forestry College. He was a Choir Boy at St. Paul’s Anglican Church for years.
Member Saint John Ford V Eights & Fredericton Capitals Hockey Teams, the
YMCA, an Avid Speed Skater. Enlisted in the Canadian Army then joined the Saint
John Police Dept. His ventures included Thorne’s Grandview Poultry &
Hatchery Farm, Thorne’s Sawmill & Lumber Company, Grandview Dairy Farm.
Riverbend Tent and Trailer Park, Kingsway Materials Ltd. He hosted Radio Talk
Show for Purina Feeds, a Carpenter by Trade, organized Charitable Fund Raisers
with outdoor chicken barbeques, Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club, Sandy Point
Community Club etc., 50 Year Canadian Red Cross Blood Donor. Past member of the
NB Dairy Farmers Assn, Holstein Assn, Black Angus Assn., NB Wood Lot Producers
Assn., Canadian Trotters Assn., American Trotters & Breeders Assn., SNB
Prospecting Mining Assn., 56 year member of Masonic Lodge No. 22, member of
Alzheimer’s Society. He was a Man who enjoyed Singing, Dancing, Reading,
watching Hockey, listening to Country Music, Old Time Fiddling, playing the
Harmonic.

1965, he was the son of Ralph and Nancy (McCullough) Haggerty. A loving son,
brother and father, James is survived by four sons; James Crichton, Joseph
Myott, Dale Crichton, David McLaughin his mother; Nancy (Gordon Dean) of Grand
Manan NB, his father; Ralph (Berta Mattatall) of Dartmouth NS, one sister;
Lorelei Haggerty of Halifax NS, one nephew; Damien Haggerty, Maternal

James was a known for his love of music, especially his
passion for the guitar. More recently, he could be seen tying flies in his spare
time.

- Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on January 20,
2007, Mr. Joseph Francis Bradford Sr., husband of Ruby (Zwicker) Bradford of
Pennfield, NB. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on December 11, 1933, Joseph was a son
of the late Walter and Margaret (Donahue) Bradford. A loving husband, father,
grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife Ruby, two sons; Joseph
Bradford Jr. and Barry Bradford both of Blacks Harbour, two daughters; Trudy
(Evans) Mailett of Pennfield, Stephanie (Darren) Pardy of Renforth, NB, six
grandchildren; Joey, Jordon, Bradley, Necia, Darren, Taylor and Sandy, one
brother; Grovener (Caroline) Bradford of Fredericton, NB, one sister; Lola
Milbury of Toronto, ON, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to
his parents, Joseph was predeceased by one son; Roderick John Bradford, one
grandson; Roderick G. Bradford, five brothers; Walter, Marnie, Raymond, Vincent
and Windsor, four sisters; Cavell, Jacqueline, Nellie and Sharon.
Prior to his retirement, Joey worked for Connors Brothers for
45 years as a Shipper/Receiver in the warehouse division as well as a foreman.
He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and also loved music, especially by his
favourite performer Willie Nelson. Joey was a devoted family man who loved his
family very much from his immediate to his large extended family. He was a
member of the Apostolic Mission in Pennfield, NB.
Resting at the Apostolic Mission, Pennfield NB, with visiting
on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the
church on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Wade Bradford officiating, assisted by
Pastor Reginald Ferris and Pastor Gordon Cooke. Interment in the Pennfield Rural

Oagles, husband of Mary Elvira (Scott) Oagles of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in
Massachusetts on May 10th, 1926, he was a son of the late James and Adelia
(Nason) Oagles. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived
by his loving wife Mary, three step daughters; Louise (Guy) McLaughlin of Blacks
Harbour, Helen (Doug) Robbillard of Ottawa, ON., Erma Hanninton of Honeydale,
one stepson Calvin Scott of St. Stephen, 11 grandchildren, 12 great
grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, one brother; Russell (Rose) Oagles
of Florida, one sister in law; Beverly Oagels of Saint John NB, several nieces,
nephews and cousins. Leslie was predeceased by his first wife Clara Oagles, a
daughter Nancy, 2 step daughters; Barbara Thorne and Judy Ayotte, three
brothers; Warren, Jim and George and a sister, Muriel Oagles.
In his earlier years, Leslie drove tractor trailer in Ontario
and following became a Pentecostal Minister and Evangelist and served the Lord
for 40 years. He loved and played music and was a member of the Apostolic
Mission Church in Pennfield, NB. Leslie was a Veteran of the Second World War,
serving with the Merchant Marine Navy.

(Ingersoll) Foster. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is
survived by his loving wife, Bertha; one son, Rev. Gary Foster of Waterloo, ON;
two granddaughters, Jamie and Nicole Foster of Seeyles Cove; one brother, Edward
(Marie) Tidd of Elliot Lake, ON; one sister, Marietta (Bud) Wormell of Blacks
Harbour and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Eastman was predeceased by one
son, Maynard; one brother, Ellis Foster and one half brother, Sherwood Tidd.

the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on April 14th, 2007, Mr. Earl V.
Watson (The V-Man) husband of the late Jessie Alberta (Shaw) Watson, in his 97th
year, of Blacks Harbour NB. Born in Canterbury NB on October 4th, 1910 he was a
son of the late Grovenor and Ela (Keilty) Watson. A loving father, grandfather
and brother he is survived by seven sons, Eric "Buddy" (Margaret) of
Blacks Harbour, Murray (Phyllis) of St. George NB, Paul (Kathy) of Pennfield NB,
Arthur (Ruth) of Saint John NB, Douglas (Eloise) of Porter Cove NB, David
(Darlene) and Keith (Penny) both of Blacks Harbour; eight daughters, Shirley
(Jim) Cameron of Digby NS, Pauline Russell of Pennfield, Mary Richardson of
Hubbards NS, Jackie (Horace) Young of Pennfield, Carol (Russell) Surrette of
Saint John, Debbie Watson of St. George, Margo (Hal) McLean of Hubbards and
Kelly (Danny) Fellows of Pennfield; 55 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren;
and eight great great grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Liddycoat and Gertrude
Foster both of Hamilton ON; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his
beloved wife, Jessie, Earl was predeceased by one son, Morris; one grandson,
Stephen Douglas Watson; one daughter in law, Linda Watson; and two brother in
laws, Dwayne Richardson and Gary Russell.
Prior to his retirement, Earl was
employed by Conner's Bros. for nearly 40 years as well as a lobster fisherman.
He was a devoted family man and was an avid photographer who took thousands of
photographs of Blacks Harbour events and surrounding areas. Most of his
photographs of local news events appeared for many years in the St. Croix
Courier and the Telegraph Journal. Earl was a member of the United Pentecostal
Church in Blacks Harbour and he loved reading his Bible.

Regional Hospital on April 22, 2007, Mr. Vinton Everett Wilcox husband of Mrs. Leona (Robichaud) Wilcox of Utopia NB. Born in
Wood Island, Grand Manan NB on February 13th, 1932, he was a son of the late
Cecil and Ona (Benson) Wilcox. A loving husband, father grandfather and
brother, besides his wife he is survived by six sons; Michael (Suzanne) of
Pennfield NB, Robert (Angie) of Geary NB, Stephen Wilcox of Utopia, James
(Rita) and Daniel (Patricia) both of Pennfield and David (Joyce) of Wainwright
AB, one daughter; Peggy (Roger) McLaughlin of Saint John NB, 18 grandchildren,
18 great grandchildren, three brothers; Roger (Lois) of Utopia, Gerald
(Marcia) of Saint John, Lloyd (Debbie) of Lincoln NB, two sisters; Mary (John)
Thorne of Saint John and Rose Wilcox (Roland Chater) of Utopia, several
nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Ernie Wilcox.
Vinton served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Crewman for 23 years. He was
stationed at Borden, Petawawa and Gagetown. In 1964 he served a peace keeping
tour in Cyprus. Both before and after his military career, Vinton also was a
fisherman. He enjoyed reading, who loved westerns and war history. Vinton also
loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Thetus Small, husband of the late Thelma May (Moses) Small, of Blacks Harbour
NB. Born in Grand Manan NB on April 3, 1913, he was a son of the late Frank and
Lola (Urquhart) Small. A loving father and grandfather he is survived by one
son, Roger (Joan) Small of Quispamsis NB, one daughter, Morna (Wayne) Linton of
Winnipeg MB, four grandchildren; Kevin Small of Blacks Harbour, Kelly (Bill)
Conley of St. Stephen NB, Paul (Michelle) Linton and Michael (Heather) Linton
all of Winnipeg MB, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was the last
surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by two brothers,
John and Herbert, and two sisters Francis Mason and Lona Anderson .
Prior to his retirement Richard had been employed by Connor’s Bros. for all of
his working career as a Stock Room Manager and Purchasing Agent. Richard was
Baptist by faith having attended the Second Falls, St. George and the Calvary
Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour. He enjoyed singing and he was a member of the
various church choirs of the churches he attended. He was an avid reader and
poet and was proud of the book of poetry which he published.
By Richard’s request there will be no visiting. There will be a graveside
service at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bruce

on November 17, 2007, Mr. Edward Raye Brown, husband of the late Mrs. Olive
(English) Brown. Born at Wilsons Beach, Campobello, NB on December 6, 1915, Raye
was a son of the late Willie and Gertrude (Ludlow) Brown. A loving father,
grandfather and uncle he is survived by two daughters; Rebecca (Bert) Anthony of
Pennfield and Natalie (Morris) Harris of Blacks Harbour NB, four grandchildren;
Andrew (Tammy) Anthony of Pennfield, Leigh-Ann (Kenneth) Richardson of
Leonardville NB, Laura Harris (Jeff Tucker) of Musquash NB and Brent Harris of
Sackville NB, three great grandchildren; Rachel Richardson, Emily and Oliva
Tucker, one sister in law; Louise Calder, two nephews; Edmond (Doreen) Calder of
Jemseg NB and David (Heather) English of Fredericton NB.
Raye was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Squadron of the
R.A.F. stationed at Point Doichin PQ, Halifax NS and Shediac NB. He was a past
president and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 39 and past
District Commander of St. Croix District. Raye was an avid sportsman and
outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing as well as skeet shooting and curling.
He was a past president of the St. George and Brunswick Curling Clubs. Raye was
also an active member of the Liberal Party. Prior to his retirement, Raye spent
most of his working life around the water as a lighthouse keeper, working at Pea
Point Light for a number of years, before going to work as Wharf
Agent for
Coastal Transport in Blacks Harbour NB.

Eugene, Randy (Heather) and Kevin Justason all of Pocologan, 12 grandchildren,

Clara McLean of New River NB and Louise (Art) Gillmor of St. George NB and
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two
sons; Allison Justason and John Lloyd, sisters; Irene Matheson, Viola Justason,

Prior to his retirement, Ernie worked as a Security Officer at Pennfield Saw
Mill as well as being a self employed fishermen. He also worked in his early
years at Connor’s Bros. in Blacks Harbour. He was an avid outdoorsman who
enjoyed hunting and fishing on the salt water. Ernie was a handyman who enjoyed
working on engines and when he was able, snowmobiling was a favourite past time.
As a young man Ernie enlisted to serve his country in the Army Reserve.

Edna Campbell passed away following a period of failing health. Born in Pocologan NB
on July 24th, 1924 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Dixon) Campbell.
A loving sister and aunt she is survived by one sister, Marion Boyd of Pennfield NB,
and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by
three brothers; Burpee, Edward and Walter and six sisters; Minnie, Edna, Ethel,
Mildred, Annie and Eva.
Kay was a lifelong resident of Pocologan and worked for various employers
including Shaw & Ellis Clam Factory and Connor’s Bros. She will be best
remembered as being a fabulous cook.

Beatrice (Watson) Bustard. A loving father, grandfather and brother he is
survived by his wife, Mary, three sons; Chris (Kelly), Raymond and Kirk Bustard,
one granddaughter; Abrielle Bustard, eight brothers; Rev. Vernon (Judy), Wesley
(Joyce), Rev. Arden (Betty Ann), Clifford, Eugene, Gary (Diana), Rev. Lloyd
(Pam) and Rev. Morton (Marilyn) Bustard, eight sisters; Marie Lloyd, Mildred

1, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Murray) Welles. A
loving wife, mother, grandmother and special friend, Marion is survived by her
husband Roy, two sons; Terry (Gisele) Swanston and Kirk (Mona) Swanston both of
Pennfield, one granddaughter, Stephanie Henry of St. George NB, great
granddaughter, Abigail Henry, her special friends Vernon and Colleen Spear of
Pennfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marion was predeceased by a

Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on July 8th, 2008, Mr. Wilbert "Wib"
Manson Cheney, husband of Mrs. A. Pearl (Hobbs) Cheney of Pennfield NB. Born at Grand
Harbour, Grand Manan NB on November 27, 1921, he was a son of the late Austin and Leona
(Allen) Cheney. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he
is survived by his wife Pearl, three sons; Vance (Emily) Cheney of St. Stephen NB, Carl
Cheney and Brian (Sonja) Cheney both of Pennfield, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren,

Marion was a long serving member of the Pennfield Baptist
Church where she was deeply involved. She was an avid bird watcher and she
enjoyed playing games on the computer which she discovered at the age of 84. She
also enjoyed reading her Bible and eating out at Smittys. She was a genuine
people person.

Prior to his retirement Kenny worked for Connors Bros. for over 50 years.
Beginning at their Mill in Blacks Harbour, which became Harbour Home Supplies
and later Keith’s Building Supplies from where he retired in 1991. Kenny was
an avid reader who loved western novels. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially
driving the back roads in search of deer and other wildlife and snowshoeing. He
loved traveling, and took frequent trips to Kings Landing where he was a member
of the Kings Landing Historical Society. He also enjoyed taking frequent tours
at Ganong’s in St. Stephen. Kenny also liked going to the Post Office to visit
his many friends. His other favourite past times were baking bread, woodworking
and filing saws as he was known throughout the area as the best. He will be
sadly missed by his family whom he visited and often helped in many ways
whenever he could.

Before his retirement, Wib worked for Connors Bros. for a number of years. In
1967 he went to work at the new Blacks Harbour Arena where he was employed for
more than 20 years as caretaker and arena manager. Wib will always be remembered
as a hard worker who spent many weekends and weekdays running the day to day
operation of the arena and who could be seen circling the ice on the Zamboni and
sharpening hundred’s of pairs of skates for many youths and adults throughout
the area. Wib also enjoyed woodworking and taking nature walks.

Colin loved walking and making his daily trips to Hooper’s Convenience in
Blacks Harbour as well as doing his many chores throughout the village. He
enjoyed gardening and was frequently seen tending to his lawn and flowers at his
home in Blacks Harbour. Prior to his retirement and arrival in Canada, Colin was
employed by the British Railway as a railway supervisor.

Robin was a man of the water and until his passing had acted as president of the
Fundy Weir Fisherman’s Association and president and member of the Harbour
Authority of Seeley’s Cove. He was a past president of the Fundy North
Fisherman’s Association and served on many boards and committee’s to better
the fishing industry in Southwestern New Brunswick. Robin also was a member of
the local Service District of Pennfield and former Deputy Chief and Firefighter
with the Pennfield Volunteer Fire Department from its beginning. He was also a
member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield and member of the Masonic Lodge
# 12 F&AM of St. George NB. Robin was a very active member in his local
community and the fishing industry and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Joseph and Domine (Chevarie) Blanchard. A loving husband, father, grandfather
and brother he is survived by his wife, Iona, one daughter, Brenda (Darren)
Campbell of Beaver Harbour NB, one son, Kevin (Kathy) Blanchard of St.
Stephen NB, two grandchildren; Sarah and Timmy, two brothers; Robert (Pam)
Blanchard and John (Rita) Blanchard both of Blacks Harbour NB, two sisters;

Canada), where he was employed for more then forty years as a service operator.

MATTHEWS, BESSIE HELEN - Peacefully
at her residence, with family at her side, Mrs. Bessie Helen (Brown) Matthews,
wife of Mr. Earl W. Matthews of Pennfield NB. Born at Doaktown NB, she was a
daughter of the late Herbert and Ida (Storey) Brown. A loving wife, mother,
grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband Earl, one son, Terry
(Janice) Matthews of Lepreau NB, one daughter, Nancy Marlene (Andrew) Wishart
of St. Stephen NB, four grandchildren; Amy (Aaron) McVicar of Lepreau, Eric
and Abby Matthews also of Lepreau and Conan Graham of St. Stephen, two great
grandchildren; Ayden and Carter, one sister, Bertha Farquharson of Fredericton
NB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three
brothers and four sisters.
Bessie had worked for a number of years at Connor’s Bros. at Blacks Harbour NB
as a Packer and prior to her retirement was employed by Canada Post as a Postal
Clerk where she had worked for 17 years. She enjoyed watching her TV programs,
shopping at Frenchy’s and doing puzzles.
Resting at the Calvary Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour NB, from where the service
will be held on Monday at 2 pm with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating, followed by
interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Monday from

URQUHART, LLOYD FREDERICK - At the
Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB, on Saturday, November 29, 2008, Mr.
Lloyd Fredrick Urquhart of Utopia NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on May 25, 1938,
he was a son of the late Gordon and Anastasia (Spray) Urquhart. A loving father,
grandfather and brother, he is survived by two sons, one daughter, two grandchildren,
one sister, Fern Guitard of St. Stephen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In
addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Joy Stein.
Lloyd had served with the Canadian Air Force for a number of years and held
various jobs throughout the local area. As a past time, he enjoyed fixing
electronics.
By Lloyd’s request there will be visitation. A Memorial Service will be held
from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home, on
Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Jeff Hoyt officiating followed by interment at the

FRASER, LEO ROBERT - Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB, on December 10, 2008,
Mr. Leo Robert Fraser, husband of Mrs. Jean E. (Heacocks) Fraser of St. George NB. Born
at Canning NS on September 5, 1939, he was a son of the late Roland and Greta (Brown)
Fraser. A loving husband, father, step father, grandfather and brother, in addition to
his wife, Jean, Leo is survived by three daughters; Rosa (Colin) Dick and Ruth (Teddy)
Price both of Beaver Harbour NB and Loretta (Roger) Waycott of St. George, one son,
Jerry Fraser (Carrie Leavitt) of Back Bay NB, two step sons; Clint Eldridge of St.
Stephen NB and George (Melissa) Eldridge of Blacks Harbour NB, 11 grandchildren; Jana,
Jenica, Stephen, Cyndail, Liam, Cameron, Megan, Emma Jean, Brandon, Dustin and
Brooklyn, three sisters; Doris (Cecil), Audrey and Jessie (Edward) all of Nova
Scotia, two brothers; Reginald (Shirley) Fraser and Ivan (Karen) Fraser both of
Nova Scotia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to his retirement, Leo worked as a truck driver for Connor’s Bros at
Blacks Harbour. He was both an avid card player and dart player who enjoyed
spending his free time fishing and sharing the local news at Randi’s store at
Beaver Harbour. Leo was a member of the International Union of Operating
Engineer’s # 946.

surrounded by his family and friends on December 30, 2008, Mr. Ralph Oscar
Rogers, husband of Mrs. Andrea (McRae) Rogers of Moncton NB. Born at Fergus ON,
on November 30, 1962, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Helen (Mickelawn)
Rogers. A loving husband, father and brother, in addition to his wife Andrea,
Ralph is survived by one son, Jared of Moncton, two brothers; Charlie (Ann)
Rogers of Brussells ON and Joe Rogers of Fergus ON, one sister, Lucy Rogers
(Mike Baird) of Fergus ON as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Ralph was an employee of Leon’s Furniture of Moncton where he had resided for
the past few years. Prior to residing at Moncton he lived at Pennfield NB, where
he served as a volunteer firefighter, which was a position he was proud of, and
at one time he had aspirations of becoming a professional firefighter. He was a
Millwright by trade and was a computer enthusiast. Ralph was a graduate of
Conestoga College of Guelph ON.
Resting at the residence of his father in law, Mr. Francis McRae, 191 Route 176,
Pennfield NB with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The
service will be held from the Pennfield Baptist Church on Friday at 2:00 PM with
Rev. Terry McCabe and Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. Interment at the Pennfield

Lodge Nursing Home, St. Andrews NB, following a brief illness, on February 5,
2009, Mrs. Mildred Lillian (Leavitt) Parks, wife of the late Tilley Beecher
Parks, formerly of St. George NB. Born at Milltown NB on November 27, 1929,
she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Mildred (Bradford) Leavitt. A
loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mildred is survived by five sons;
Jim (Shirley) Parks, Richard (Sally) Parks, Larry (Bonnie) Parks and Mike
Parks all of St. George and Bobby (Penny) Parks of St. Stephen NB, one
daughter, Brenda Hanley (Barry Logan) of Saint John NB, eight grandchildren,
10 great grandchildren, five brothers; Herbie (Rose) Leavitt of St. George,
Vance Leavitt of Pennfield NB, Frank (Mavis) Leavitt of Beaver Harbour NB,
Wesley Leavitt of Blacks Harbour NB and Keith (Alice) Leavitt of Breadalbane NB
and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Tilley, Mildred
was predeceased by one daughter, Lori and by two sisters; Norma Brown and Joyce
Hanson.
Mildred enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Ontario and two years ago she
finally was able to visit Jasper AB and the Rockies. She was an avid fan of
Jeopardy and gave a lifetime of loving care to her son Michael.

grandmother and sister, she is survived by one son, William "Bill" (Barbara)

R. Allen of Halifax NS, four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three
sisters; Kathleen Wilcox of St. George NB, Lydia Parker and Ella (Beverly)
Cary both of Grand Manan NB, four brothers; Manson (Helen) Wilcox of Port
Maitland NS, Lester (Betty) Wilcox of Pennfield NB, Walter (Alva) Wilcox of

Donnie Munn and her beloved home care worker, Anne Grant, and several nieces,

In her earlier years, Esther worked for Connor’s Bros. as a Sardine Packer and
was a long time member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, where she served
on the Missionary Auxilliary and was a member of the Choir. She loved quilting
and doing crossword puzzles and was an avid Domino player.

MEALEY, CECIL JOSEPH - Unexpectedly at his
residence in Pocologan, NB on Friday, February, 20th, 2009; Cecil Joseph
Mealey, husband of the late Florida Adelia (Gallant) Mealey. Born in Pocologan
he is the son of the late Harry & Hazel (Campbell) Mealey.
For over 45 years Cecil was the owner and proprietor of Mealeys Auto Body Shop
in Pocologan. He was an avid outdoorsman loving long walks in the outdoors and
always loved feeding the many birds and deer around his property. Every Sunday
Cecil could be seen at the Stella Maris Community Hall in Blacks Harbour
enjoying the old time music along with many of his friends. Those who knew Cecil
knew of his great love for the guitar.
Cecil is survived by his 2 daughters Claudia Babineau (Wayne)
and Carolyn all of Pennfield, NB, 2 brothers Charles (Georgie) and Kenneth all of
Pocologan, NB, 4 sisters, Alice McLane of Cape Cod U.S.A. Beatrice Mealey, Bessie
O’Neill (Wallace) and Hazel Winters all of Pocologan, 4 grandchildren, Lisa Wilcox of
Victoria B.C. Jeremy Wilcox of Trenton, Ontario, Hillary and Heather Mealey both
of Pennfield, NB, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

school teacher.

Darlene he is survived by one son, Wayne (Lisa) Jordan of Beaver Harbour NB, one
daughter, Carrie (Timmy) Bradley of Warburg AB, six grandchildren; Jessica Jordan,
Andrew Jordan, Jenna Bradley, Connor Jordan, Riley Bradley and Julia Bradley, his
mother, Frances Anthony of Pennfield NB, one brother, Stephen (Denise) Anthony of
Utopia NB, niece, Danielle Anthony, nephew, Ryan Anthony, as well as several aunts,
uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends who will miss him dearly.
Leigh was in his 40th year working for Connors Bros, where he made many friends
during those years. Leigh had a love for dogs and enjoyed watching sports,
especially hockey and baseball, as he was a Red Sox fan. He enjoyed novels by
Stepehen King and playing cards with his buddies. Leigh enjoyed going to Silver
King games with his friends and loved being around family and friends. He was
very proud of all his grandchildren and was also a great dad to Holly and the
cats. In his younger days he was an avid dart player having won many
championships.

SWANSTON, CHARLES ROWLAND "Roy" -
Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John
NB on March 25, 2009, Mr. Charles Rowland "Roy" Swanston, husband of the
late Mrs. Marion Swanston of Pennfield NB. Roy was born at Lincoln, England, on
July 9, 1921. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by two
sons; Terry (Gisele) Swanston and Kirk (Mona) Swanston both of Pennfield, one
granddaughter, Stephanie Henry of St. George NB, one great granddaughter,
Abigail Henry, one sister, Demi Stevens of Lincoln, England, and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Marion, he was predeceased by one
son, Gary, two brothers; Alec and Cyril and by three sisters; Florie, Emma and
Sylvie.
Roy served overseas with the British Army and later The RAF in World War II. He
came to Canada to train at the base located at Pennfield NB in 1943, where he
met and married his bride Marion. He then returned to England until the end of
the war finally returning back to Canada where he spent the remainder of his
days. He was a Stationery Engineer by trade and worked for many years at CFB
Gagetown, then moved to Pennfield and worked for Connor’s Bros. until his
retirement. Roy was an avid golfer and bowler and an active member of the
Pennfield Baptist Church.

Labrador and Kevin (Shari) Leavitt of Chilliwack BC, eight grandchildren; Shelly, Stacey, Terri-Anne, Stephanie, Shannon, Sean, Ryan and Lesley, 14 great grandchildren, four brothers; Wesley Leavitt of Blacks Harbour NB, Keith

Prior to his retirement, Frank worked as a Correctional Officer and Group Worker for the Province of New Brunswick. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed going on hunting trips and fishing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion in Marysville NB.

HILL, STEPHEN BLAINE - Unexpectedly at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on June 19, 2009, Mr. Stephen Blaine Hill of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on September 12, 1967, he
was a son of Mr. Frank and Isabel (Stevens) Hill. A loving son, brother, nephew and friend to many, in addition to his parents, Frank and Isabel, he is survived by four brothers; Robert (Helen) Hill of Blacks Harbour NB, Danny
(Lori) Hill and David (Susan) Hill both of Pennfield NB and Gerald Hill of Campbellton NB, one sister, Krista (Terry) Martin of Canal NB, special great niece, Emily Hill, great nephew, Isaac Chevarie and one Godchild, Chloe, and
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Stephen was predeceased by one sister, Faith Marie.
When not working as a fisherman, in his spare time Stephen enjoyed being at his camp on Chicken Island. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to fish and be in the wilderness. Known as the neat freak in his family he was always
available to help out anyone in need and he loved his mother more then words can describe. He will be missed by all his family and the many friends he made along the way.

MAHAR, ROGER DALE - Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on August 9, 2009, Mr. Roger Dale Mahar, husband of Rose (Cook) Mahar of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on April 11, 1951, he was a son of
the late Sylvanus and Hazel Belle (Cooke) Mahar. A loving husband, father, special grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Rose, he is survived by one son, Adam (Samantha Cobham) of Blacks Harbour, five brothers; Howard
(Shirley) of Truro NS, Robert (Betty) of Penticton BC, David (Eliza) of Blacks Harbour, Allen (Glenna) of Pennfield and Randy (Trudy) of Edmonton AB, six sisters; Dawn (Calvin) Justason of Pennfield NB, Lucy Tracy of Utopia NB,
Janice (Ralph) Justaton of Seeley’s Cove, Norma (Gerald) Belliveau and Dorothy (Mike) Barry both of Pennfield and Beth Mahar of Blacks Harbour as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends, Alan
(Linda) Brown of Grand Manan NB, and special island grandchildren, Dominick and Shyloh. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Patricia Seeley.
Roger was previously employed by Connors Bros for over 35 years. He was a member and dispatcher with the Blacks Harbour Fire Department for 20 years. Roger was very involved with his community as he was a fixture at the Blacks
Harbour Arena for many years whether it be officiating at hockey games both on and off the ice and later as the announcer in the penalty box for the Blacks Harbour Silverkings and Jr. Silverkings, Fundy League and any arena
function. He was also President of Connors Bros Softball League and will be remembered as a very special person at Christmas time.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Calvary Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Wednesday evening from 7-9 pm. A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at the church on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Bruce Alcorn
officiating. Interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory made to the Calvary Baptist Church, NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Charlotte County

O'NEILL, BESSIE MARGUERITE - Peacefully at her residence, on September 26, 2009, Mrs. Bessie Marguerite (Mealey) O’Neil, wife of Mr. Wallace O’Neil of Pocologan NB. Born at Pocologan on April 3, 1932, she was a daughter of the late
Harry and Hazel (Campbell) Mealey. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Wallace, she is survived by one son, Carl (Laura) O’Neil, and one daughter, Diane (David) Munn both of Pocologan, two
grandchildren; Shyanne (Kenny) Hansen of Beaver Harbour NB and Carl Jr. (Angela) O’Neil of Dartmouth NS, four great grandchildren; Erik and Kaitlyn Hansen and Rachael and Bella O’Neil , two brothers; Charles (Georgia) Mealey
and Kenny Mealey, three sisters; Hazel Winters, Beatrice Mealey and Alice McLean all of Pocologan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bessie was predeceased by one brother, Cecil Mealey.
Prior to her retirement, Bessie worked as a labourer for Connor’s Bros. She was an avid walker who enjoyed taking a long peaceful walk. She loved to take trips to Calais ME and to spend some quiet time watching hummingbirds.
Bessie was a member of the Pocologan Baptist Church.

on December 6, 1940, she was a daughter of Sarah (Beckerton) MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB and the late Frederick P. MacLaren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by one
son; Bishop Burnham “Burnie” and Leasa Hall of Groton CT, three grandchildren; Robert and Jasmin Hall of Hudson NH, Sarah Hall and her husband Neal Rubenstein of New York NY and Justin M.F. Hall of Groton CT, her mother, Sarah
MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB, one sister, Ethel and Roy Bannister of Kingsclear NB, one brother, Frederick and Ronah MacLaren of Petitcodiac NB, brother in law, Alonzo and Alice Hall of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and
cousins. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by one brother, Preston MacLaren.
Prior to her retirement, Helen was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB. She was an avid musician who enjoyed to play the piano and sing and was an outstanding telecommunicater.
When Helen had a moment to herself, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting or reading a good book. Helen was the president of the Charlotte County Chapter of the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses.

STUART, ARTHUR "ALLISON" - The death of Arthur Allison Stuart, loving husband of Elizabeth (Holmes) Stuart, occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1938 in Pennfield, NB he was the son of the late
Frederick and Blanche (Munro) Stuart. Allison worked as a lighthouse keeper, and was very active in his church. In addition to his loving wife Elizabeth of 52 years, he is survived by his sister Gwendolyn McGee of St. George and
several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Clifford Allan Stuart. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John with visitations on Friday, December 11, 2009 from
3 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11 am, with Rev. George Howe officiating. Interment will take place in Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. The family

STUART, ARTHUR "ALLISON"
- The funeral service for Arthur Allison Stuart was held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 9, 2009 with Rev. George Howe officiating. Eulogy was given by niece Sandra Wood; poems were read by Christina Clark
and Mary Melanson. Honorary Pallbearers were nephews: Richard Stuart, Nicholas Wood, Chris Stuart, Jimmy Stuart, Fred Stuart and Brandon Guthrie. Pallbearers were Coast Guard Employees: Paul Melanson, Scott Galbraith, Gordon Ford
and Shane Wilson. Floral tributes received included one from Canadian Coast Guard Employees as well as those from family and friends. Donations in memory of Allison were made to the Canadian Cancer Society; Tabernacle United
Baptist Church; Romero House Soup Kitchen; Wendy Nickerson Memorial Bursary Fund; as well as many sympathy cards. Interment will take place in Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. The family would like to take this opportunity
to thank the Saint John Coast Guard Base for their time and heart felt sympathy. Also to the family members and friends who showed their support by their presence, donations of food, flowers, cards and prayers. The family would
also like to thank Rev. Howe for all his kindness and preparing of a very fitting service. Thanks goes out to all that played, sang and read. Special thanks to Paul Daigle and the staff at Fundy Funeral Home for making all of us
feel so comfortable. We knew we were in good hands.

STEEN, WILLIAM ALLAN "Bill" - At his residence at Breadalbane NB on December 19, 2009, Mr. William “Bill” Allan Steen, husband of the late Blanche M. (Wilcox) Steen. Born at Methuen MA on July 14, 1915,
he was a son of the late Charles and Mary E. (Cordingly) Steen. A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by one son, Russell (Olive) Steen of Breadalbane NB, one daughter, Sheila (David) McCourt of Scarbourough ON, three grandchildren;
Patrick McCourt of North Bay ON, Julie (Colin) Morrison of Scarbourough ON and Diane (Randy) Madenly of Bolton ON and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Blanche, he was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Charlie
and by two sisters, Anne Armstrong and Florence Kernighan.
Bill was a veteran of the Second World War where he served with the Service Corps in England. He was an avid musician who loved to play the Harmonica and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of
the St. George Baptist Church.
