JUSTASON, RONALD GERALD "Ronnie"
- At the Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen on Tuesday January 16, 1990, Ronald Gerald Justason of
Rollingdam, Charlotte County and formerly of Blacks Harbour, in his 51st year;
survived by one daughter Susan (Mrs. Rocky McLeod) of Rollingdam, one
granddaughter, Andrea McLeod of Rollingdam, two brothers, Phillip of Saint John,
Billy of Blacks Harbour, four sisters, Audrey (Mrs. Paul Craig) of Rollingdam,
Pamela Mitchell of Back Bay, Patricia (Mrs. William Giddens) of St. Stephen,
Cindy (Mrs. Charles Daigle) of St. Stephen and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, Main Street, St.
George where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor
Robert Meister officiating. The body will be placed at the Pennfield Rural
Cemetery Vault awaiting spring burial in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In lieu
of flowers donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated
by the family.
WALSH, DORIS MAE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital
on Tuesday, January 16, 1990, Doris Mae (Hatt) Walsh, wife of Amos L. Walsh of
Pennfield, Charlotte County, in her 79th year; survived by her husband, one
daughter Bernadene Walsh, one granddaughter, Patricia Walsh, both of Saint John,
four brothers, Windsor and Stanley of Canal, Harley of Pennfield, Lawrence of
Brewer, Maine, three sisters, Georgia Drost of Pennfield, Blanche Tracy of
Utopia, Joan Hart of Nova Scotia and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, Main Street, St.
George. The funeral service will be held at the Apostolic Pentecostal Mission,
Pennfield on Friday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Allan Westmorland officiating. The
body will be placed in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery Vault awaiting spring burial
in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the Funeral Home on Wednesday 7-9
p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
BRADFORD, HAZEN JAMES - Hazen James
Bradford passed away June 15, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown,
P.E.I. in his 69th year. He was born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. January 21, 1922.
He was the son of the late Victor Hugo Bradford, Sr. and the late Linnie Eva
(Towers) Bradford.
Besides his wife Lillian (Watts) Bradford he is survived by
one son James Bradford, Saint John, two daughters, Brenda Willson, Savage
Harbour, P.E.I. and Kimberlea Bradford, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; one
granddaughter, Cynthia Willson, Banff, Alberta and one grandson, Mark Willson,
Savage Harbour, P.E.I.; two brothers, Victor Bradford, St. George and Edmund
Bradford, Pennfield; one sister, Vivian Calhoun, Saint John and several nieces
and nephews.
He joined the RCAF 1942-1945. He was employed by Connors
Bros. Ltd., 30 years. He was a machinist; he designed and built machines. He was
also employed as a machinist with Bruce Stewart Co. Ltd., Charlottetown, P.E.I.
He retired in 1982. He was a member of the RCAF Association and a 35 year member
of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He loved nature, birds, flowers, gardening, music, hunting
and fishing.
His funeral was held at the St. George Funeral Home, June 28.
Rev. Gerald Burke officiating. Mrs. Ellen Bradford accompanied herself on the
organ and sang beautifully, the Battle Hymn if the Republic and the Old Rugged
Cross.
Pallbearers were Nelson Watts, Edison Watts, Thompson Knox
from Charlottetown, Victor E. L. Bradford, Gailand Bradford and Martin Bradford.
Interment was in Pennfield Cemetery.
Many beautiful floral tributes were received and donations
were made to the various memorial funds.
Among the many relatives and friends attending the funeral
were those from Charlottetown, Sherwood, Union, Winsloe, Savage Harbour, P.E.I.
Saint John, Fredericton, St. Andrews, St. Stephen, Deer Island, St. George and
Blacks Harbour.

FARQUHARSON, IAN
ALEXANDER "Rufus" - At the Saint John
Regional Hospital, on March 20, 1991, Ian “Rufus” Alexander Farquharson,
husband of Doreen (Johnston) Farquharson, of New River, in his 67th year;
survived by his wife, two sons, Ian and Andrew, both of New River, two
daughters, Susan (Mrs. Donald Lomax) of Pocolgan, Nancy Appleby of Saint John,
four grandchildren, three brothers, Ronald of Saint John, Donald of Lepreau,
Arthur of New River, one sister, Agnes Gillespie of Fredericton, and several
nieces and nephews. Mr. Farquharson was predeceased by one son
Glendon.
Rested at the Saint George Funeral Home, Main St., St.
George, where the funeral service was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Canon
David Genge officiating.
Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery, Pennfield.
FARQUHARSON, IAN ALEXANDER "Rufus"
- The death of Ian (Rufus)
Alexander Farquharson occurred at the Regional Hospital, Saint John.
The funeral was held from St. George Funeral Home, with
interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nelson Downer, Lyman Spear, Herb Robertson,
David Haggerty, Norman King, David Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers were Ed Young, Donald Justason, Malcolm
Travis, Barry Gilmore, Donald Beattie, Arnold Haggerty. Mr. Farquharson was born
in Pennfield, he lived most of his life at New River Beach.
A veteran of World War II, he was with the “D Day”
invasion of Normandy, and was there seriously wounded.
He later became a rural mail courier, retiring in 1980, after
nearly 40 years of service.
He also served with the corps of commissionaires, during the
sixties, at the General Hospital and at N.B. Telephone co.
Mr. Farquharson is survived by his wife, the former Doreen
Johnston; two sons, Ian and Andrew of New River Beach; two daughters, Susan,
Mrs. Donald Lomax of Pocologan, and Nancy Appleby of Saint John; four
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
ELDRIDGE, ALBERTA ELIZABETH - Alberta E.
Eldridge, 76, died Jan. 19, 1991 at the Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 31, 1914 in Minasville, N.S. daughter of George and
Florence Hamilton, she moved to New Brunswick in the mid-1930's. She was a
member of the Beaver Harbour United Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the
Women’s Missionary Society and was Sect.-Treasurer of the Sunday School for
over 35 years.
She was also secretary for the Fundy Tides Seniors Group at
the time of her death.
She is survived by three daughters, Florence (Mrs. James
Hawkins), Phyllis (Mrs. James Justason), Maureen (Mrs. Ola Richard), all of
Beaver Harbour; 11 grandchildren, Debbie, Brian, Elaine, Fred, Jeff, Mike,
Shelia, David, Larry, Eric and Eugene; also 11 great-grandchildren; nine sisters
and one brother.
She was predeceased by her husband Alvah Eldridge in May
1986.
Funeral service was held on Mon., Jan. 21, at the St. George
Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Burke officiating. Organist was Alyce Walsh.
Pallbearers were, Vernon Spear, Claude Holland, Gerald
Belliveau, Sherman Wadlin, Brian Barry and Gerald Paul.
Interment was in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
STEEN, LOLA MAE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on
Wednesday May 8, 1991, Mrs. Lola Mae Steen of 241 Boyanner Crescent, wife of the
late Hollis Lyman Steen; survived by one son, Jerold and his wife Betty of Saint
John, three daughters, Miss Holly Boyle, Mrs. Noreen Steen and Dawn (Mrs. Ronald
Nash) all of Saint John, three brothers, George of Waweig, Burton of Halifax and
Basil of Blacks Harbour, three sisters, Gladys (Mrs. Kenneth Skerrett) of
Burlington, Ont., Mrs. Freda Wright of St. Andrews and Mrs. Barbara MacLean of
Blacks Harbour, 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row from
where funeral will be held in Brenan’s Chapel on Friday at 1 p.m. Interment in
the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m.
McNICHOL, JOHN ALEXANDER
- At the Fundy Hospital, Blacks
Harbour on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1991, John Alexander McNichol (age 79 years), of
Beaver Harbour, N.B., husband of the late Gladys (Taylor) McNichol and son of
the John and Gertrude (Shaw) McNichol; survived by one son, John C. of Saint
John; two daughters, June (Mrs. William Sheppard) of Nackawic, Kathleen (Mrs.
George Wright) of Salisbury, six grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Clark
of St. George, Leora Hatt of St. Andrews, Isabelle Hatt of Lake Utopia and
several nieces and nephews.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, Main St., St. George.
The funeral service was held at the Beaver Harbour United Baptist Church on
Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Burke officiating. Interment in the Pennfield

Hospital on Friday, Dec. 27, 1991, Alvin Osborne Justason, age 82 years of
Beaver Harbour, husband of Olga (Cross) Justason and son of the late Charles and
Ethel (Wilcox) Justason; survived by his wife; one son Gerald of Beaver Harbour;
four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Maurice of Blacks
Harbour, Lewis of Pennfield, Ernest of Pocologan, Murray of Blacks Harbour; six
sisters, Viola Justason of Saint John, Hazel (Mrs. Bill Corey) of Salisbury, Amy
(Mrs. Douglas Maxwell) and Mrs. Clara McLean, both of New River, Mrs. Doris
Williams of Pocologan, Louise (Mrs. Arthur Gillmore) of Bonny River and several
nieces and nephews. Mr. Justason was predeceased by son Glendon.

at 3 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Gray and Rev. Gerald Burke officiating. The body was
placed in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery Vault awaiting spring burial.
On Monday an Order of the Eastern Star service took place at
7:30 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

"VIOLA" - At the Saint John Regional
Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1992, Bessie Viola Justason of Saint John, (age 79
years) daugther of the late Charles and Ethel (Wilcox) Justason; survived by
four brothers, Maurice of Black's Harbour, Lewis of Pennfield, Ernest of
Pocologan, Murray of Black's Harbour, five sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Bill Corey) of
Salisbury, Amy (Mrs. Douglas Maxwell), and Mrs. Clara McLean, both of New River,
Mrs. Doris Williams of Pocologan, Louise (Mrs. Arthur Gillmore) of Bonney River
and several nieces and nephews. Viola was predeceased by two brothers, Alvin and
Clarence and one sister Irene Matheson.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, Main Street, St.
George, NB. The funeral service was held at the Pennfield United Baptist Church
on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Gray officiating. Interment to take place
(in the spring) in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery, Pennfield, NB.

WILCOX, ALLISON LAWRENCE
- Allison Lawrence Wilcox passed
away unexpectedly at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia on
Tuesday, May 7, 1992 in his 48th year.
Allison was the eldest son of Lawrence and Laura (Anthony)
Wilcox of Lake Utopia and was born at Gallaghers Maternity Home, Black's Harbour
on April 20, 1945.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Muretta (Leavitt), his
children; Faith, Timothy, Tony, Jonathan and Tabatha; one grand-daughter,
Brittany Lynn, all of St. George; four sisters; Sandra Harris of Lake Utopia,
Elaine (Mrs. John Scovil) of Saint John, Carol (Mrs. Jerry Leavitt) of Back Bay,
Diana Legere of Fredericton; two brothers, Douglas of St. Stephen and Jeffey of
Saint John.
Also survived by his father and mother-in-law, John and
Florence (McGarrigle) Leavitt of Back Bay; several nieces and nephews and great
nieces and nephews.
Allison was predeceased by one sister, Wanda Irene.
Allison spent most of his life in the Blacks Harbour, St.
George area. He was employed by Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour for
approximately 30 years.
He rested at the St. George Funeral home and funeral services
were held at the Blacks Harbour United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Donald
McCary officiating. Interment was held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ivan Comeau, Claude Scott, Eric Scott,
Phillip Deveau, Dennis Saulnier and Daniel Pellerin, all of whom were friends
and fellow workers.

HAWKINS, ANNA ELIZABETH - Unexpectedly at the Saint John
Regional Hospital on Oct. 26, 1992, Mrs. Anna E. Hawkins of Pennfield Ridge,
wife of the late Donald R. Hawkins; survived by one son, Richard R. and his wife
Karen of Martinon; one daughter Jane Hawkins and Colin Vickery and Shawn and
Pennfield Ridge; one brother, Frank O'Brien of Sudbury, ON; one sister, Audrey
(Mrs. Kenneth Hawkins), Pennfield Ridge and several nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by a sister Wilda Meating and a brother Ralph O'Brien.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage St., St.
George, from where the funeral was held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment in the
Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
The order of Eastern Star held a service at the funeral home
on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

STEWART, JAMES N. - By accident at Fundy Hospital,
Black's Harbour on October 30, 1992, James N. Stewart of Pennfield Ridge, age
26, son of William F. and Margaret H. (Calder) Stewart; survived by his parents,
two brothers, Wayne of Pennfield, William of Pefferlaw, Ont., two sisters,
Elaine Stewart of Beaver Harbour and Lorraine Garval of Edmonton, Alta., several
aunts, uncles and cousins.

Harbour on December 22, 1992, Lawrence Ashston Wilcox of Lake Utopia, husband of
Laura (Anthony) Wilcox; survived by his wife, four daughters, Sandra Harris of
Lake Utopia, Elaine Scovil of Saint John, Carol Leavitt of Back Bay and Diane
Legere of Fredericton, and two sons, Douglas of Deer Island and Jeffrey of Saint
John, two sister Joyce Evans of Lake Utopia and Marguerite Cooke of Lake Utopia;
two brothers, Ellsworth and Sheldon of Pennfield, 21 grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by one son, Allison, and
one daughter, Wanda.

George. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, December 26, 1992 from the St.
George United Baptist Church. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.

BRADFORD, WILLIAM EDMUND
WALLACE "Eddy" - The death of
William Edmund Wallace Bradford occurred on Nov. 13 at the Fundy Hospital,
Blacks Harbour.
"Eddy" as he was known, was born at Blacks Harbour,
Oct. 31, 1910, a son of the late Victor H. Bradford Sr. and Linnie Eva (Towers)
Bradford.
He lived the greater part of his lifetime here in this
community, where he attended the local school; later he attended the Vocational
School in Saint John, graduating with a machinist diploma.
For a period of 45 years he was employed with Connors Bros.
Ltd. as a machinist.
He was a member of Calvary United Baptist Church, where he
served on the Board of Trustees for several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed doing carpentry work.
Surviving are his son Howard Dale Bradford of Oak Hill,
Florida; three granddaughters, Wendy Reeve, Catherine Hayward and Vivian Kisk;
one sister, Mrs. Vivian Calhoun of Saint John; several cousins; nephews and
nieces.
His wife the former (Betty) Elizabeth Barter of Peniac, N.B.
died in 1990.
And besides his parents "Eddy" is predeceased by
two sons, Brian and Borden; three grandsons, Daniel, William, and Brian
Bradford; four brothers, Eugene, Eric, Howard and Hazen Bradford; one sister,
Mrs. Doris Springer.
The funeral service was held in the Chapel of the St. George
Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald H. Burke, pastor of Calvary United Baptist Church
of Blacks Harbour officiating.
Two favorite hymns were rendered by Mrs. Ellen Bradford, Beautiful
Isle of Somewhere and How Great Thou Art, who was organist for the
service.
Six nephews served as the pallbearers: Victor Jr., James,
Eric, and Brock Bradford, Eldridge and Calhoun.
Interment was in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Many beautiful floral tributes were received and a number of
donations made to memorial funds.
Relatives and friends were here to attend the service from
Oak Hill; Florida; Georgia; Saint John and area; Deer Island; Fredericton;
Blacks Harbour; Pennfield; Woodstock and St. Andrews.

SMITH, STANLEY JOHN Sr.
- At the Saint John Regional
Hospital, on April 14, 1993, Mr. Stanley John Smith Sr. of Pennfield, N.B.;
survived by one son, Stan Junior of St. George, a close companion, Eva Bright of
Pocologan, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by one son Wallace, one daughter, Eleanor, one sister, Mary
and two brothers, Peter and Henry.

George from where the funeral service was held on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m.

Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on April 29, 1993, Martin William Bradford of
Carleton St., Saint John, N.B. formerly of Blacks Harbour, husband of the late
Clytie (Chase) Bradford, son of the late Winfield Bradford and the late Margaret
(Donahue) Bradford; survived by one son, Gordon Milbury of Scarborough, ON; four
brothers, Walter and Joseph of Blacks Harbour, Vincent of St. George and
Grovener of Fredericton; four sisters, Cavell (Mrs. Floyd Carson) of Fort
Fairfield, ME, Lola (Mrs. Paul Milbury) of Havelock, ON, Mrs. Nellie Beney of
St. George and Sharon (Mrs. David Jewett) of Fredericton; one aunt, Nellie
Justason of Seeley’s Cove and one uncle, Clare Donahue of Blacks Harbour;
close companion, Leah Campbell; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two
brothers, Windsor and Raymond and one sister Jackie.

George. Funeral service was held on Monday, May 3, at 2 p.m. from the Calvary
United Baptist Church, in Blacks Harbour, N.B. Interment in Toronto, ON.
LEIGHTON, WILFRED LESLIE "Bill"
- The largely
attended funeral of Wilfred Leslie Leighton was held at the Pennfield United
Baptist Church on May 10. Rev. Fred Gay together with Rev. Glenn Gray officiated
at the service.
He was the son of the late Captain Frank Leighton and
Margaret (Hatt) Leighton. Mr. Leighton was a member of the Pennfield United
Baptist Church, a carpenter by trade, and a boat builder. He was well known for
his meticulous work. He was an avid seaman who had a great love for the vessels
he sailed. One of his greatest passions was the violin. He enjoyed playing,
especially in his latter years.
He was beloved husband of Glenna (Hawkins), and loved father
of daughters Janet Leighton of Pennfield, Frances Spear of Seelye's Cove, Arlene
Johnston of Pennfield, Linda Holmes of Pennfield, Audrey Garnett of Saint John,
and Lana Polland of Back Bay; sons Edwin of Pennfield, Reid of Back Bay, and
Carson of Back Bay. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, numerous great
grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; one brother, Clarence of Oromocto,
three sisters, Betty Ross of Detroit, MI, Mina Tucker of Ontario and Beatrice
McKay of Pennfield. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edwin, Herbie, and
Manfred; three sisters, Iva, Lila, and Clara.
An instrumental Amazing Grace was played by Mr.
Leighton's sons and his granddaughter Cindy (Spear) Polley and grandson-in-law
Ray Polley. Further Along was sung by his daughters accompanied by Rev.
Fred Gay and his wife Brenda.
Interment was held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.

MAHAR, SYLVANUS LELAND "Vene"
- Unexpectedly at the Fundy Health
Center, Blacks Harbour on August 21, 1993, Sylvanus L. (Vene) Mahar, husband of
Hazel (Cooke) Mahar of Blacks Harbour. Survived by his wife, six sons, Howard of
Truro, Robert of Toronto, Roger and David of Blacks Harbour, Allen of Pennfield
and Randall of Saint John; seven daughters, Patricia Seeley of Blacks Harbour,
Dawn Justason, Norma Belliveau and Dorothy Barry, all of Pennfield, Lucy Tracy
of Lake Utopia, and Beth Mahar at home; two sisters, Eunice Neathway of Blacks
Harbour and Audrey Thorne of Lake Utopia; 18 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lindell and Henry and
one sister, Irma Kelly.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street.,
St. George. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church,
Blacks Harbour.
Interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Donations may be
made to the charity of the donor's choice. Visiting house Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9
p.m.

BORTHWICK, JOHN EDWARD - At the Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on October 8, 1993, Mr. John Edward Borthwick Sr.,
of Back Bay, N.B., husband of Laura Mae (Oliver) Borthwick, son of the late John

January 28, 1994, Mr. Ray Emerson Coulton of Pennfield, NB, husband of Viola (Ingersoll)
Coulton; survived by his wife, one son, Carmen and his wife, Carolyn of
Pennfield, one brother, Walter of Pennfield, one granddaughter, Shannon (Mrs.
Terry Mann) of Woodstock, NB, one grandson, Dan Coulton of Saint John, and
several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters, Mae Waite and Mildred
Leavitt and two brothers, Albert and Stewart. He was born at Prince Edward
Island, son of the late John and Annie (Gillcash) Coulton. He was employed by
Connors Brothers for 48 years, retiring in 1986.

BATES, JUANITA VIOLA - Family and friends were saddened by
the passing of Juanita Viola (Eldridge) Bates on Feb. 24, 1994 at Fundy Health
Centre after a period of falling health. She was the wife of Leverett Steen
Bates of Beaver Harbour.
Juanita was born Oct. 20, 1911 in Blacks Harbour at the
residence of her maternal grandparents, Charles and Fronie (Mahar) Cross.
Juanita was the daughter of the late Oscar Raymond and Lena Mildred (Cross)
Eldridge of Beaver Harbour, where she resided the majority of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years; two daughters -
Norma Lambert of DeSable, PEI and Hazel (Mrs. Donald Justason) of Pennfield; two
grandchildren - Debra Cooke of Beaver Harbour and Dr. Stephen Justason of
Sussex; three great-grandchildren - Trevor, Danah and Dionne; three
step-great-grandchildren - Jason, Melissa and Tyler; one brother - Gilbert
Eldridge of Beaver Harbour; one sister - Myrtle (Mrs. Grover Ralston) of Saint
John; one nephew - Allan Eldridge of Beaver Harbour and two nieces - Faye
Johnston of Montreal and Cynthia Clary of Massena, NY. She was predeceased by
one sister, Hilda Justason of Norfolk, NY.
Juanita was a member of Beaver Harbour United Baptist Church.
For many years she was employed by Connors Bros. and in later years she was
employed by Department of Veterans Affairs in Saint John until retirement.
The funeral service was held at the St. George Funeral Home
with Rev. Grey officiating, assisted by Rev. Burke of the Beaver Harbour Baptist
Church. Interment will be in the spring at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. The
pallbearers were Dale Wright, Derwyn Hawkins, Wayne Hawkins, Christian Larsen,
Colin Barrett and James Comeau. Many floral tributes were received as well as
contributions to various organizations.
Attending the funeral from out of town were relatives from
Quebec, New York, Saint John, and surrounding communities.

Hospital on March 24, 1995 after a lengthy illness, Harold Fowler Eldridge of
Ellerdale Street, he was in his 90th year. Born at Beaver Harbour a son of the
late Bernard and Eugenia (Fowler) Eldridge. Harold was a charter member of the
Lancaster Lions, a member of the Carleton Curling Club, Past member of the
Knights of Pythias and a faithful member of the Lancaster Diamonds Seniors Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vida Grace
(Gibbs) Eldridge, one daughter Barbara Gene Eldridge and her husband Rev. Ernest
Eldridge, one granddaughter Marian J. Avery and her husband Hartley Avery of
Beaver Harbour, N.B., great-granddaughters Heather and Cailin Avery, one
grandson Thomas F. Eldridge of Vancouver, brother James E. Eldridge and wife
Jean Eldridge of Saint John.
Following cremation a memorial service will be held at Brenan’s

anniversary on Saturday, March 25, 1995.

Pennfield, on August 9, 1995, Mr. Walter John Bradford, in his 75th year,
formerly of Black’s Harbour, son of the late Winfield and Margaret (Donahue)
Bradford. Survived by four sisters, Cavell (Mrs. Floyd Carson) of
Maine, USA, Lola (Mrs. Paul Milbury) of Havelock, Ont., Nellie (Mrs. Warren
Beney) of St. George, Sharon (Mrs. David Jewett) of Fredericton; three brothers,
Vincent of St. George, Joseph of Black’s Harbour, Grovener of Fredericton; one
aunt, Nellie Justason of Seeley’s Cove; numerous nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by three brothers, Martin, Raymond and Windsor and one sister,
Jacqueline Suttie. Mr. Bradford started for Connor’s Brothers at the age of
eight and retired after serving several years as orderly at the Fundy Hospital
in Black’s Harbour. He was an avid bowler and curler being a former member of
the Black’s Harbour Curling Club.

ELDRIDGE, FOSTER OTIS - At the Saint John Regional
Hospital on Sept. 24, 1997, after a brief illness, Mr. Foster Otis Eldridge of
Beaver Harbour, N.B., husband of the late Alta E. (Wright) Eldridge.
Born in Beaver Harbour Feb. 6, 1921, he was the son of the
late Guilford and Cora (Noddin) Eldridge. Mr. Eldridge served overseas in Italy
during WWII with the Carleton and York Regiment. He had worked as a stationery
engineer at the former DVA Hospital. He was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch #39, Blacks Harbour, and attended the Beaver Harbour United
Baptist Church.
Mr. Eldridge is survived by one son, Preston and companion
Janet Conwell of Grand Bay; one daughter Lisa, Mrs. Mark Williams of Bathurst;
four grandchildren, Clint, George and Jamie Eldridge and Lesley Wilkins; four
great-grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Eldridge and one sister, Muriel
Eldridge, both of Beaver Harbour. He was predeceased by one son, Bruce.

WRIGHT, ALVIN LEONARD - At the Saint John
Regional Hospital, on August 26, 1998, in his 92nd year. Mr. Alvin Leonard
Wright of Beaver Harbour, N.B., husband of Enid (Smith) Wright. Born in Beaver
Harbour, May 31, 1907, he was the son of the late Theodore and Estella (Noddin)
Wright. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed with Connors Bros. for 50
years. He was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church where he served as
an active Deacon until his death. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent
for 45 years and was a member of the former L.O.L. #92 of Pennfield. Mr. Wright
is survived by his wife, Enid; his nephew Dale Wright of Pennfield, one aunt
Nina Murphy of Blacks Harbour, several nieces and nephews, and cousins and
special friend Florence Hawkins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Marvin and
Clyde.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street,
St. George, N.B. The service will be held from The Beaver Harbour Baptist Church
on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the
funeral home Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the

McGARRIGLE, TROY STEPHEN "Digger" – Troy Stephen
McGarrigle, 25, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, the 23rd day of September
1998, at his residence. Stephen Troy was born on Thursday, the 26th day of July
1973, at the Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, son of Syritha B. (McGarrigle)
and Stephen R. Noddin. Survived by one son, Kyle McGarrigle; his parents;
maternal grandfather, James Mathew McGarrigle of Blacks Harbour, NB; paternal
grandmother, Doris Noddin of Beaver Harbour, NB; paternal great-grandmother, Amy
Dickson of Beaver Harbour, NB; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a
former employee of Connors Brothers Limited, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and
boating.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George,
NB. The funeral was held from Calvary United Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour, NB
on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Interment in the Rural Cemetery, Pennfield, NB.

BATES, LEVERETT "Levy"
- With sadness, our family
announces the death of Leverett (Lev) Bates of Beaver Harbour, N.B. His death
occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Jan. 16, 1999 after
complications from a heart attack.
Born in his paternal grandparents residence in Beaver Harbour
on Feb. 11, 1909, he was the son of George S. and Hannah V. (Steen) Bates.
During his youth the family moved to Eastport, St. Andrews and Saint John. As a
teen, Lev returned to live in Beaver Harbour where he met his future wife. His
marriage to Juanita Viola Eldridge took place in St. George on Oct. 21, 1929.
They became the proud parents of two daughters. Lev worked as a fisherman for
several years before going on to become a pipefitter.
During Lev’s years as a pipefitter, he belonged to Union
Local 213 in Saint John. He worked for W.E. Emerson & Sons Ltd. from 1939
until 1967 and Security Plumbing and Heating Ltd. from 1967 until his retirement
in 1976. His jobs took him to various locations in Nova Scotia and New
Brunswick. He worked out of Saint John for many years but Beaver Harbour was
always his home. Lev was an avid bowler and summer found them camping around the
province and the U.S.
After his retirement they moved back to Beaver Harbour. He
was an active member and former officer of The Eastern Charlotte Lions Club and
Fundy Tides Seniors Club for many years. He enjoyed Cribbage nights and friendly
games at Randi’s store. He loved to open his doors and gather his family
together to celebrate any occasion as his family was his greatest joy in life.
He was proud to be a great-great grandfather and welcomed each new addition to
his family with open arms.
Lev was predeceased by his wife of 64 years on Feb. 24, 1994,
his parents and four sisters, Pearl, Hazel, Madeline and Violet. Survived by one
sister, Marion Philips of Aurora, Ont., his two daughters, Norma Lambert, of
Charlottetown, P.E.I. (companion, Ray Genge), Hazel, (Mrs. Donald Justason) of
Pennfield, one granddaughter, Debra Cooke, of Beaver Harbour, one grandson, Dr.
Stephen Justason and wife, Iris, of Sussex, six great-grandchildren, Trevor,
Danah, Dionne, Jason, Tyler and Melissa and four precious
great-great-grandchildren, Colbie, Morgan, Kristie, and Taylor, and several
nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, conducted by Rev. Bruce Alcorn, was held
on Jan. 19, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the St. George Funeral Home. Carolyn Coulton sang Roses
Will Bloom Again. The pallbearers were Trevor Cooke, Chris Larsen, James
Comeau, Colin Barrett, David Szemerda and Michael Szemerda.
Interment will be in the spring at the Pennfield Rural
Cemetery.

JUSTASON, ARTHUR "CARLTON" - After a brief
illness at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, March 6, 1999, Mr. A
Carlton Justason , in his 84th year of Pennfield, NB, husband of the late
Mildred Elizabeth ( Corscadden) Justason and son of the late Arthur Hill Gilmore
Justason and Laura Idella (Munroe) Justason. Survived by two daughters, Carlene,
Mrs. Gary E Waycott of Saint John and Susan, Mrs. Richard Foster of Pennfield;
two grandsons, Peter Carlton Waycott of St. George and Justin Earle Foster of
Pennfield; two granddaughters, Sara Jane Waycott-Oland of Mahone Bay, NS and Amy
Isabel Foster of Pennfield; two great grandchildren, Laura Alyre Waycott-Oland
and Geoffrey Waycott-Oland of Mahone Bay, NS and four nieces and nephews. Mr.
Justason owned and operated a grocery store for many years, was a self-employed
woodsman; also a former employee of Connors Bros. Ltd. As well as an employee of
the Public Works Dept., retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Pennfield
United Baptist Church. He was predeceased by one daughter, Sharon Anne Justason
and one sister, Gertrude Helen McGee and son-in-law Gary E Waycott.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street,
St. George, NB. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm from the
Pennfield United Baptist Church with interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery
in the spring.

JUSTASON, GLENDON ROYAL- At the Saint
John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on September 10, 1999 following a period
of failing health, Mr. Glendon Royal Justason, husband of the late Leola (Betts)
Justason. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB, on August 7, 1923, he was a son of the
late Joshua and Ethel (Outhouse) Justason. A loving father and grandfather,
Glendon is survived by one son; Glendon Jr. (Skip) and his wife Anita of Blacks
Harbour, two daughters; Glennis, Mrs. John Richard of Blacks Harbour, Brenda,
Mrs. Henry Legacy of Pennfield, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren,
one sister, Flora, Mrs. William Litvin of Berlin, New Hampshire, one niece
Sandra and one nephew, William Jr. Predeceased by one brother, Clyde. He was a
veteran of the Second World War serving with the RCAF for 3 1/2 years. Following
the war he was employed at Connors Brothers for 50 years until his retirement.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George. The
funeral will be held on Monday, September 13, 1999 from the United Pentecostal
Church in Blacks Harbour at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Visiting at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Monday at the
Church from 10-12 noon. Remembrances to a charity of the donor's choice would be

PRATT, LAURA BERNICE - Laura Bernice Pratt
died peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 14, 1999. Born in
Pennfield on April 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alverna
Young. Laura is survived by her husband Walter and two daughters Lucille
(Robert) Thorne of Hammond River and Maria Wilband of Pennfield. As well as
three brothers Eldon, Ralph and James. Predeceased by four brothers, Horace,
Preston, Willard and Cyril. Laura will be fondly remembered by her many friends
and family. At Laura's request, there will be no visitation, cremation will take
place at Fernhill crematorium, followed by a private family service at a later
date. Donations to the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Saint John, N.B.
