Pennfield (Charlotte Co.) 21st Feb., 1877 - Died at Pennfield, 7th Feb., John McGREGOR, age 97. He was a native of County Down, Ireland. He volunteered in 1802, his age being 22. He fought through the Peninsula war and was present when MOORE fell from his horse. He was at the seige of Copenhagen and was on his march into the field when the battle of Waterloo was won by Wellington. He served 21 years and volunteered again. He was discharged in England after the peace and came to this place 48 years ago and has resided here ever since. He remembered all his battles and could tell all about them till within a few days of his death; and said that if he was only 21, he would enlist again to serve his Queen and country. And I think it would be the duty of our country to rise a monument to his memory. (sgd) S.T. ANDERSON

St. George, July 29, 1878 - James ARMSTRONG of Pennfield (Charlotte Co.) died on 22nd inst. at advanced age of 106 years. He retained all his faculties up to the time of his death and would converse intelligently concerning events of the last century. His remains were interred in the cemetery adjoining the English Church, Pennfield.

We record the demise of Mrs. TATTON, relict of over 20 years of William TATTON of Pennfield Ridge (Charlotte Co.). After the death of her husband, she resided, except for a short period, with her son-in-law, J.H. SAY, Pennfield. For the last four or five years deceased was confined to her bed. She died Monday 24th Feb., aged 97 years. Deceased left three sons and one daughter, the wife of Mr. Say and the youngest of her children. She lived to see her great grandchildren.

A correspondent informs us that Mr. CRICKARD of Pennfield (Charlotte Co.) has lost two of his children with scarlet rash. The rest of the family are sick with the same disease and only one sister was able to attend the funeral of her sisters, Charlotte CRICKARD and Mary J. CRICKARD who died within 24 hours of each other.

We record the death of John CARLYLE of Pennfield (Charlotte Co.) 22nd inst. He had been found dead in his bed on the morn. of that day. Deceased was a native of Scotland, left aged father, two brothers and four sisters. He was a prominent member of the Orange Association and his remains were interred by the order last Thursday. The funeral cortege to the Episcopal cemetery was large.

A Pennfield correspondent writes: On Sunday Dec. 13th, the remains of Robert HUNTER were interred in the same grave yard. He had drawn near four score years. Living in St. George for some years past, after having been a resident of Pennfield most of his life, he requested that his body should be buried in the Christ Church grave yard, Pennfield (Charlotte Co.).

A Pennfield correspondent writes: On Sunday, one of the longest funeral processions ever witnessed followed the remains of George GILLESPIE to his last resting place. The services were conducted by the rector Rev. R.E. Smith. The deceased 39 years of age leaves a widow, mother, brothers, sisters and two young sons. He was a member of the Anglican church.

d. Edward SNELL, for a number of years light keeper at Beaver Harbor (Charlotte Co.) died a day or two ago after a short illness. He was aged 78 years. The deceased was an Englishman by birth and a portion of his early life was spent as midshipman on a British man-of-war. After his removal to New Brunswick, he was for a number of years pilot out of St. Andrews. He served as such, we are told, when the Bay of Fundy survey, under Admiral OWEN was made. After giving up pilot life, he became a light keeper at the Wolves, and subsequently changed that position for Beaver Harbor. He was a splendid specimen of physical manhood -a typical 'old sea dog'. His jolly manner made him a general favorite. His death came suddenly. He was buried Wednesday with Masonic honors in Christ Church graveyard.

The friends of Mrs. Mary HARVEY were shocked to hear of her death which occurred here last Sunday morn. She leaves an invalid mother, father and two brothers. The remains were taken to Pennfield (Charlotte County) for interment.

An old resident of Pennfield (Charlotte Co.), Mrs. BOYD relict of David BOYD, passed away Nov. 19th. She had been ill only a short time. She was a native of County Antrim, Ireland and reached the age of 82 years. Nine children mourn her loss. The deceased was a member of the Church of England.

ELDRIDGE, AMY - After an illness of some months, Mrs. David Eldridge passed peacefully away at her home here on Wednesday, March 18. Deceased who was 71 years of age, was highly esteemed and beloved, especially for he kindness and help to those who were sick and in trouble, and she will be greatly missed. Besides a large circle of friends, she leaves to mourn, a sorrowing husband, three sons, Melvin, Lewis and Maurice, and three daughters, Mrs. Joshua Hawkins, Mrs. John Johnson and Mrs. Cameron Wright, also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    The brothers and sisters who survive are Lewis and Thomas Holmes, Mrs. Edgerton of this place; Mrs. Maurice Holmes and Mrs. Sam Woodd of Eastport, Maine and Mrs. Frank Farrin and Mrs. Orlando Bowman of Bristol, Maine.
    The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Spencer of St. George on Friday afternoon and interment was at the Church of England Cemetery, Pennfield. The pall bearers were Newton and Palmerston Wright and Hazen Holmes, nephews of the deceased and G.W. McKay.

JUSTASON, ANNIE - The funeral of Mrs. Z. Justason, wife of Zadock Justason, who died on Friday, April 17, after an illness of several weeks, was held in Pennfield from her home in Blacks Harbour and was largely attended. Rev. A.R. Yeaoman of the Church of England. of which Mrs. Justason was a member, officiated.
The pallbearers were William Hawkins, John McDowell, Charles Cross, Joshua Justason, Leonard Thompson and Elliot Walker. Mrs. Justason leaves to mourn her husband, Zadock Justason, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Wakefield of Bath, Me., and Mrs. Alden Doten, Baring, Me.,; two sons, Emery Justason and Percy Justason at home; one sister, Mrs. Samuel McKay, Pennfield, and two brothers, George and William Spear, St. George. They have the sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow.

JUSTASON, ZADOCK - The death occurred on Friday, May 29th, of Zadock Justason of Blacks Harbour, aged 63 years. He was the son of the late William and Lena (Rose) Justason of Pennfield. He leaves to mourn two sons, Percy and Emery of Blacks Harbour; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Wakefield of Baring, Me., and Mrs. Alden Doten of Milltown, NB; also three brothers, Abner, Sydney and Charles Justason of Pennfield; and one sister, Mrs. Ward Hatt, of Blacks Harbour. Particularly sad is this death as Mrs. Justason died about six weeks ago and Mr. Justason's occurred on his 37th wedding anniversary. Mr. Justason was one of Blacks Harbour's most respected citizens and highly regarded by all with whom he came in contact. The funeral was held Sunday, May 31st, with service at the home, conducted by Rev. W.J. Hawkins. Later at the Pennfield Anglican Church, service was held at the grave conducted under the auspices of L.O.L. King Elder, No. 92 with A.B. Hawkins as acting master and members of the Lodge attending in body. The bearers were J.H. Burrell, Donald Wilcox, Henry Sellars and Ernest Borthwick.

WAITE, DOUGLAS EDWARD - Beaver Harbour, Dec. 16 - Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Waite (nee Beatrice Pendleton) sympathize with them in the death of their two months old son, Douglas Edward, which occurred very suddenly on December 12 at their home. Besides his parent he left two sisters, Gloria and Gail.
The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of this grandmother, Mrs. W.W. Waite. Rev. Bliss Keith, rector of Christ Church, Pennfield, conducted the service, Burial was made in the Church of England Burying Ground in Pennfield. Those acting as pall-bearers were Gordon Eldridge, Ralph O'Brien, Leslie Eldridge, and Frank Thompson. There were some very lovely floral offerings.

CARTER, ELIZABETH JANE - Death again visited the community of Seelye's Cove taking one of the oldest and best known citizens, Mrs. Nathaniel Carter, who passed suddenly away at her home on Dec. 26, following a long period of failing health. Despite this fact her death came as a great shock. Beloved by all who knew her she will be greatly missed by family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Nathaniel Carter, one daughter, Mrs. David McAdam, Jr., of West Saint John, one son Delbert, at home, and four grandchildren.
The funeral was held on Friday afternoon with service at the home conducted by Rev. W.H. Ring of Back Bay Pentecostal Assembly and at the Anglican church by Rev. Bliss T. Keith.
The following favorite hymns of the deceased were sung: "Lift Me Up Above the Shadows", "The Last Mile of the Way", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Abide with Me." A solo entitled, "The Christian's Good Night" pwas sung by Mrs. Ring. Interment was made in Christ Church cemetery at Pennfield.

CARTER, ELIZABETH JANE - The funeral of Mrs. Nathaniel Carter of Seelye's Cove was held on Friday at Christ Church, Pennfield, and was largely attended. Deepest sympathy is extended the aged husband and family.

LEE, Capt. ELDORADO G. - Beaver Harbor, Feb. 2 - Early Monday morning, January 29th, Capt. E.G. Lee passed away following a brief illness. He observed his 90th birthday last Nov. 13th when a number of friends honored him at a surprise party. Even at this advanced age he was very active and enjoyed working about his home.
    A native of Eastport, Maine, he came here when a young man and from this port he followed the sea for many years and was well known all along the Canadian and American coasts.
    He was twice married, his second wife was Mrs. Isabella Conley, who predeceased him about three years ago. He left a son, James P. Lee of Portsmouth, N.H., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also a stepson, Charles Conley. During the last few years he had made his home with the late Mrs. Lee's grandchildren, Mary and Claude Morehouse, who cared for him during his illness.
    The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon when Rev. Bliss Keith, of the Anglican Church, conducted services, assisted by a choir who rendered the favorite hymn of the deceased "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" and "Abide With Me." The pall-bearers were W.L. Barry, Cecil Cross, G.W. Cross, Leslie Eldridge, Percy Eldridge and Albert Wright. Interment was made in Pennfield Cemetery, adjoining Christ Church.

County Losses Good Citizen in Sudden Death Of R.A. Cross
Widely Known Insurance Man and Valued Worker in Community Enterprises at St. George
ILLNESS OF PNEUMONIA FATAL

St. George, April 8 - The community was shocked and saddened on Wednesday, April 3rd, when it became known that R. Adrian Cross had passed away, after a brief illness of pneumonia. In his death St. George loses one of its most valued citizens and many will mourn the loss of a sincere and valued friend, one who was always interested in every department of town welfare.
A member and strong supporter of St. Mark's Church, a member of St. George Lodge, F. & A.M. No.12, a Conservative in politics; a strong supporter of Red Cross work, an ardent helper of the skeet club, he represented the Sun Life Insurance Company of thirty-seven years, and in this capacity was well and favorably known in St. John and Charlotte counties.

   Mr. Cross was born 57 years ago in Beaver Harbor, of Loyalist descent. He was the son of Woodward and Helen Cross, and was left an orphan at the age of eleven years. One brother, Vincent, predeceased him. When quite young he came to St. George, and worked in Dr. H.I. Taylor's office, later going into the insurance business in Nova Scotia and St. John. Four years ago he came to St. George to live permanently.
    In 1907 he married Miss Mina Maxwell, who survives him, and to whom the deepest sympathy of the community is extended, both for the loss of her husband and in the death of her sister, Mrs. James Hoyt, on Thursday.
    Among the many beautiful flowers were wreaths from the Sun Life Insurance Co., Skeet Club, Masonic Order, Firemen, Ladies of the St. George Branch of the Red Cross Society, A.R.D. Society of the Baptist Church and many others.
    The funeral, one of the largest seen here for some time, was held on Friday afternoon under Masonic auspices. A short service in St. Mark's Church conducted by the rector, Rev. B.T. Keith. The pall-bearers were George Henry, Horace Dodds, Marshall Stewart and Herbert Parks. Interment was made in Pennfield, service at the grave being conducted by the Masonic Order.
nbsp; Among those attending the funeral from outside were N.C. Ralston, manager, and the staff of the Sun Life office in Saint John, Mrs. Hoey and A. Mawhinney, also of St. John, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Thomas, St. Andrews and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Simpson of Waweig.

DOON, LUELLA - St. Andrews, Nov. 26 - Mrs. John Doon, who passed away on the 18th of November, was buried on Wednesday, Nov. 20th, in Pennfield Cemetery. Mrs. Doon was born in Pennfield in 1870 and came to St. Andrews 37 years ago. During her stay here she made many friends. She is survived by her husband, John Doon and two sons, George and Eldon, both at home.
The funeral was from her home to All Saints Church and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. A. Brock Humphrys, who also held a short service in Pennfield Church before the burial service in Pennfield Cemetery. Those attending the service from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. D. Clark and Mrs. James Cronin of Milltown, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lee, E. Thompson, Calais and Hon. J.J. Hayes Doone, M.L.A. of Black's Harbour, Mr. and Mrs. E. BOYD, JAMES U. - Sympathy is extended to Mrs. E.C. Justason and Mrs. Clarence Munro, in the death of their brother, James Boyd. My Boyd was one of the oldest residents of this place. The funeral service was held at Christ Church at Pennfield on March 25. Services were conducted by the Rev. B. Keith. Interment was at the Christ Church cemetery, Pennfield.

ALEXANDER, JOHN S. - The death of John Alexander occurred at his home in Beaver Harbor on January 18. Although in failing health for the past few years his passing was very unexpected. He had been ill for only a day.
    "Colonel" Alexander as he was familiarly known by friends, was born in Toronto 89 years ago and migrated to the States when a young man, became an American and was engaged in the lumbering and real estate business in West Virginia. Since his retirement he has lived in Beaver Harbor.
    He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Millicent Wright, of Beaver Harbour, and a son, Harold, in Montreal, also two nephews, Earl Alexander of New York and Leon Alexander of Philadelphia, and a grand nephew, Jimmy Alexander serving with the American army in Europe.
    The funeral was held on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at Christ Church, Pennfield. Rev. Hubert Doody, the rector, officiated. The hymn used was "The Old Rugged Cross." The pall-bearers were Clarence Munro, Albert Eldridge, William Barry, Cecil Cross, Albert Eldridge and George Bates. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

SELLARS, FRANKLYN GLENMORE - Following an illness of only a few days Franklyn Sellars, a well known citizen of Pennfield, passed away on Monday, April 30 in the Memorial Hospital, at Eastport, Me. at the early age of 33 years.
    Mr. Sellars was the son of Harold G. Sellars and Jennie (Hunter) Sellars of Pennfield.
    He was a member of Christ Church at Pennfield, and will be remembered by his friendly nature and generosity.
    Franklyn is survived by his parents, three brothers, Horace of Beaver Harbour, Raymond of Pennfield, Gordon with the R.C.A., now stationed in England, and four sisters, Mrs. Gordon Powell of Pennfield, Mrs. Delbert Carter of Seelys Cove, Margaret of Pennfield, and Mrs. Albert Matheson of St. George.
    The funeral was held from Christ Church, Pennfield, following prayers at the home on Wednesday afternoon, May 2. Rev. Hubert Doody conducted the service. "There is no night in Heaven", and "Abide With Me", were rendered by the choir.
    The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. The bearers were Alex Jack, Robert Parks, Vincent Justason and Arthur Hawkins.
    Interment was in the family lot in the Anglican cemetery in Pennfield.
    Those attending the funeral from outside points were Vernon Calder, Miss Freda Calder, Charles Barker and Roy Smith of Lord's Cove, D.I.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hooper, of Back Bay; Mrs. W.H. Tabor and Mrs. Roscoe Melvin of Saint John.

ELDRIDGE, WEYMAN - This community was shocked on Thursday, Aug. 2, when news of the tragic death of 63 year-old Weyman Eldridge become known. His body was found in a fishing boat at Digdeguash early Thursday morning by Errol Wilson. It is believed he fell from the wharf into the boat the night before and died instantly from a fractured skull.
    Mr. Eldridge had been employed in rafting logs on the Digdeguash River for Connors Bros. of Black's Harbour. He was last seen by friends with whom he had spent Wednesday evening. He left their home about 11 o'clock to go to his boat. Cpl. Ralph Love of the R.C.M.P. and the coroner were called to the scene of the accident and Dr. Smith decided an inquest was not necessary.
    Mr. Eldridge had a large number of friends being widely known throughout the County. He had been employed for many years in the lumbering industry and had also followed the sea. At one time he was mate on the three master schooner, "Frederick H" owned by Capt. F. Hawkes, making frequent calls at St. George for cargoes of ground wood and pulp for American ports.
    Mr. Eldridge was a son of the late Hugh and Margaret Eldridge and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Edna Waite of Beaver Harbour.
    The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon. Following prayers at his home in Beaver Harbour service was held in Christ Church, Pennfield, with Rev. H. Doody officiating. Hymns used were "Peace, Perfect Peace" and "Abide With Me". The pall-bearers were fellow employees of the lumbering department at Connors Bros., Ltd. The floral tributes were numerous and very beautiful

NAVAL VETERAN WIDELY MOURNED
David H. Eldridge, Three Years with Canadian Forces in North Atlantic, Dies in Hospital

    The funeral of David Herbert Eldridge, whose death occurred on Thursday, Oct. 18, in East Saint John, was held from Christ Church, Pennfield Sunday, Oct. 21. Rev. H. Doody officiating.
    Mr. Eldridge, who was 28 years of age, had been a patient in the East Saint John Hospital for the past year. He had previously served for three years in the R.C.N.V.R., having enlisted in 1941. His service was chiefly in the North Atlantic where he took part in many naval engagements.
    Born in Beaver Harbor, he was a son of Maurice S. and the late Mrs. Eldridge. The high regards in which he was held by all who knew him was evidenced by the profusion of floral tributes at the funeral.
    The pall-bearers, all members of the R.C.N.V.R., were Petty Officer Carmen Eldridge, Petty Officer Gilbert Eldridge, Seaman Roy Best, and Seaman Lewis Best, all boyhood friends of the deceased.
    He is survived by his father, four brothers, Raymond, Charles and Adrian, of Beaver Harbor, and Eugene, of Saint John; four sisters, Miss Jessie and Miss Rowena, of Beaver Harbor; Mrs. Leonard Theriault, Beaver Harbour, and Mrs. Albert Henry, St. George.

Maurice Eldridge Of Beaver Harbor Dead
Succumbs in Lancaster Hospital At Age 63 Following Lengthy Illness

    Beaver Harbor, Jan. 14 - Sympathy is extended to the family of Maurice Eldridge, whose death occurred at Lancaster Hospital, Saint John, on Saturday, December 29, following a lingering illness. Born in 1882, he was a son of the late David and Amy (Holmes) Eldridge. His wife, who predeceased him by eight years, was Miss Ida Eldridge of Canal.
    Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Albert Henry, Mrs. Leonard Theriault, and Misses Rowena and Jessie Eldridge, and four sons, Eugene, of Saint John, and Raymond, Adrian and Charles; also five grandchildren. One brother, Lewis Eldridge, also survives him, and three sisters, Mrs. C.E. Wright and Mrs. John Johnson, Deadman's Harbor, and Mrs. Margaret Hawkins. A son, Herbert, died in October, 1945, who with his brothers, Eugene and Raymond, had served in the Royal Canadian Navy, during the war.
    The funeral was held on Tuesday, Jan.1, at his late home in Beaver Harbor. Prayers at the house were said by Rev. George Readman, rector of Christ Church, Pennfield, assisted by Rev. W.L. Randall, pastor of the Baptist Church. A service was also held in Christ Church, Pennfield, and burial was made in the family lot in the adjoining cemetery.

TATTON, BENJAMIN C. - The death of Benjamin C. Tatton occurred at the home of Horace Sellars, Pennfield, Friday, June 21, at the age of 76 years. Mr. Tatton was a life-long resident of Pennfield and highly respected by all who knew him.
He was a member of Christ Church and also prominent in the Orange Lodge where he will be sadly missed. He is survived by one brother, George, and other relatives.
Funeral service was held Sunday, June 23, and he was laid to rest in the family lot in Christ Church cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. George Readman. Pall-bearers were Robert Akerley, Ernest Borthwick, Alexander Holland and Joseph Jack. Hymns sung were "Hush, Blessed Are The Dead," and "Abide With Me."

ELDRIDGE, LEWIS WIRT "Bub" - The death of Lewis (Bub) Eldridge occurred at his home in Beaver Harbor early Thursday evening, August 8, after an illness of only two days. On Tuesday evening he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he failed to rally.
    He was in his 75th year and the second son of the late David and Amy (Holmes) Eldridge. For many years he made his home with his sister, Mrs. C.E. Wright, and Mr. Wright, later with his sister--in-law, Mrs. J. Melvin Eldridge, then he built a home at the point on the beach road where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Anglican Church and a life long resident of beaver Harbor where his many friends will miss his presence among them.
    Surviving relatives are three sisters, Mrs. C.E. Wright, Mrs. Joshua (Margaret) Hawkins, of Beaver Harbor, and Mrs. John Johnson, of Deadman's Harbor, a large number of nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services on Saturday afternoon at his late home was conducted by Rev. George Readman assisted by a choir of mixed voices who sang "Sometime We'll Understand". Following this a service was held in Church Church, Pennfield, when Rev. W.L. Randall, pastor of the Baptist assisted Mr. Readman with the service.
    Burial was made in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church.
    The floral tributes were numerous and very beautiful.

FERRIS, ANDREW GEORGE "BLAIR" - A.G. Blair Ferris, who has been in ill health for the past four years, passed away at his residence, 205 Charlotte Street, Saint John, on Wednesday, July 31, in his 69th year.
    He was born at Waterborough Queens County, April 25, 1887, and was associated with the retail grocery trade all of his life. For nearly 15 years he owned and operated a grocery business at Pennfield Ridge and was well known and highly esteemed in Charlotte County. Removing to Saint John about 22 years ago, he still followed the grocery trade and at one time was in business in the City Market.
    On October 4, 1910, he was united in marriage with Miss Nellie McKay, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McKay, Sr., of Pennfield Ridge. He is survived by his wife, son, C.S. McKay Ferris, and daughter Miss Elva E. Ferris, of Saint John, who both returned from overseas service in June this year.
    He was a member of Christ Church, Pennfield, and of St. George Lodge, E. & A.M.
    Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Canon C. Gordon Lawrence of Trinity Church Friday, Aug. 2, followed by service in Church Church at Pennfield at 3:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. George Readman, rector of St. Mark's Church, St. George, with music by the Christ Church and Maces Bay choirs with Mrs. Harry Clarke at the organ.
    There was a profusion of flowers from relatives and business associates. Interment was in Christ Church cemetery, pall-bearers being Earle, Scott and Gordon McKay and Arthur, Samuel and Blair Mawhinney.

SELLARS, MARGARET IRENE - The death of Margaret Irene Sellars of Pennfield occurred Sunday morning, Nov. 10, at the Saint John General Hospital after an illness of a few days. She was 28 years of age.
    A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sellars, she will be sadly missed. Besides her parents, she leaves to mourn three sisters and three brothers.
    The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Christ Church in Pennfield with Rev. George Readman officiating. Pall-bearers were Ernest Borthwick, Alfred Hawkins, George Hawkins, and Chandler Borthwick. Interment was in the family lot in Christ Church Cemetery.
    Out-of-town visitors were Mrs. Donald Sellars, Mrs. Bert Libby, Mrs. Wentworth Tabor, Miss Freda Calder, and Mrs. Ross Melvin.

STRUCK BY CAR, 7-YEAR-OLD DIES - Nancy Bennett Succumbs En Route To Hospital - Dated June 8, 1955 - St. George - Nancy Bennett, 7, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bennett, Pennfield Ridge, died yesterday on her way to hospital after being struck by a car when crossing the road outside her home about 11 am.
    Nancy had crossed the road to collect the family mail from the box and, on the way back, darted out from behind the mail-truck which was parked and into the path of an oncoming car. She was thrown several feet and was unconscious when picked up by her mother, who saw the accident from the front door.
    Driver of the car was Howard Chapman, Norfolk, Mass., who was en route to his home from Halifax. Mr. Chapman drove Nancy and her mother to Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour but the youngster died on the way.
    Driver of the mail-truck, James Brown, said he called out to the child "watch out for the car" but apparently she didn’t hear him.
    The accident was investigated by Cpl. F Stubbs, St. George detachment, RCMP. Dr. R D Smith, St. George, coroner, said an inquest would not be necessary.

FUNERAL FOR HIGHWAY VICTIM - Dated October 12, 1962 - The funeral of Mrs. Lois Henry, killed in a highway accident near her home last Friday evening, was held from her home to St. Mark’s Anglican Church with service conducted by Rev. D M Brown and music rendered by a combined choir. The church was filled to overflowing-mute testimony to the deep sense of loss felt by the entire community.
    Daughter of the late Maurice and Ida (Maxwell) Eldridge of Beaver Harbour, she was fifty years of age. Surviving are her husband, Albert Henry; one son, Gary of Saint John; five daughters, Mrs. William Seavey (Joanne) of Princeton, Maine, Mrs. Joseph George (Beverly) of Nashwaaksis, Ruth, Lilla and Mary Ellen, at home; four brothers, Eugene and Raymond of Saint John, Adrian of Canal, Charles of Pennfield Ridge; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard Theriault (Enid) of Beaver Harbour, Mrs. Rufus Seamans (Rowena) of Hamilton, ON, Mrs. Arnold White (Jessie) of St. George; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    As proprietor of Henry’s Dry Goods Store, she was well known to all for her genial disposition. She was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion Branch No. 40, St. George, and gave generously to their support as well as the work of the Girl Guides and Brownies.
    Members of the Ladies Auxiliary formed a guard of honor at the church.
    Attending the funeral were all the members of the immediate family, also relatives and friends from Moncton, Salisbury, Saint John, Fredericton, St. Martins, Massachusetts, Washington, DC, as well as many points in Charlotte County and in Maine.
    Pallbearers were James Allen, Philip Giggey , Eldon Cross, Clifford Simpson, Stanley Thomas, and Alex Jack. Interment took place in Christ Church Cemetery in Pennfield.
    A profusion of beautiful floral tributes were received including those from the Board of School Trustees, ECRS; bus drivers of ECRS; Beaver Harbour Baptist Church; No. 5 Factory Packers, Blacks Harbour; Connors Bros. Factory Employees of Blacks Harbour; Beaver Harbour Canning Factory; Benevolent Fund, NB Electric Power Commission, Saint John; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1711, NB Electric Power Commission; Barbers of St. George; Rubins Store; manager and staff of Stedman’s; Ladies Auxiliary Canadian Legion Branch No. 40; Caithness school children; Friendship Club of L’Etang; Port City Motors of Saint John; Vance’s Garage; Local Association Girl Guides and Brownies; St. George Pharmacy and many others.
    Several mass cards were also received as well as memorials of Gideon Bibles and prayer books and hymn books placed in St. Mark’s Church.

GAUDETT, AUGUSTINE JESSE - Dated October 2, 1963 - The death of Augustine Jesse Gaudett occurred at King’s County Memorial Hospital, Sussex, on Oct. 10th, 1963, after a short illness. He was born at Weymouth, Digby Co., NS, on August 17, 1884, a son of the late Stephen and Catherine (Amero) Gaudett.
    He came to Blacks Harbour in his early years where he was employed by Connors Bros. Ltd. until retirement in 1959.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Phylena Wilcox of Wood Island, Grand Manan, NB; five sons, Albert, Ernest and James of Blacks Harbour, Burton, RCN, Dartmouth, NS, Maynard, RCAF, Cold Lake, Alberta; five daughters, Mrs. Angus Grant (Marjorie), Mrs. Jed D Lee (Myrtle), both of St. George, NB, Mrs. T Glendon Carr (Dorothy), Sussex, NB, Mrs Newton Carroll (Belva) of Dartmouth, NS and Mrs. Austin Richardson (Mary) of Pennfield, NB; two brothers, Frederick, Blacks Harbour and Leslie of Weymouth, NS; twenty-six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held from Calvary United Baptist Church conducted by Rev. M O Brinton assisted by Rev. A D Cann of the Reformed Baptist Church. Interment was in Christ Church cemetery, Pennfield, NB. Rev. Murray Brown conducted the committal service.
    Pallbearers were his six nephews, Clifford, John, Ronald, and Herbert Gaudett, Alvin and Lewis Justason.
    The profusion of floral tributes and memorial Bibles showed the esteem in which the deceased was held. Relatives and friends attended from Cold Lake, Alberta, Dartmouth, NS, Sussex, Fredericton, St. George and surrounding areas.

NOTED COUNTY WOMAN PASSES - Dated August 1966 - Pennfield - The death of Mrs. Kathlyn Emma Stewart, wife of R D Caldwell Stewart, QC, of Pennfield and St. George, occurred in the Saint John General Hospital following a lengthy period of ill health.
    Her husband is a former Member of Parliament of Charlotte County.
    Born at Winnipeg, she was in her 57th year, and was a daughter of the late James A and Mary F (Walsh) Richardson.
    Moving to Halifax, when very young, she attended the Halifax Academy of Music and was a graduate of the business college there.
    Surviving besides her husband are two sons, R Dougald of Ottawa, and Peter J of the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton; one brother, J Ernest Richardson of Vancouver, president of the British Columbia Telephone Company; five grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.
    The body rested at her home from where the funeral was held Friday afternoon to the Christ’s Anglican Church, Pennfield for service with Rev. J A Secord officiating.

GERALD A HOLLAND DIED IN PENNFIELD - Dated January 2nd, 1967 - South Bay - Funeral services for Gerald Albert Holland was held at Christ Church, Pennfield on January 4 with Rev. J A Secord officiating.
    The hymn "The Lord’s My Shepherd" was sung.
    Pallbearers were Gordon Eldridge, Leonard Theriault, Merrill Dines, Guilford Hooper, Willard Gowan, Pearson Harmon, Mendall Morehouse.
    Interment took place in adjoining cemetery.
    Born at Back Bay, March 12, 1911, he was the eldest son of the late Angus and Catherine (Hooper) Holland.
    He was a member of Christ Church, Back Bay and was self employed as a carpenter and boat builder.
    He is survived by his wife, Bessie (Harmon); one brother, Medford, St. Stephen; four sons, Donald, Pennfield, Claude, Beaver Harbour, Jack and Philip at home; four daughters, Mrs. Sheila Kilburn, Fredericton, Mrs. Barbara Donnelly, Saint John, Mrs. Joyce Titus, Acamac, Susan at home; fifteen grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    A large number of floral tributes and donations to the heart fund and cancer society were received by the family.
    Among the out of town friends and relatives attending were Gerald Stuart of Melrose, Mass.

PERCIVAL ELDRIDGE DIES AT 88 - Beaver Harbour - Many friends learned with regret of the death of Mark Percival (Percy) Eldridge which occurred in his 89th year, at Fundy Hospital, Black's Harbour, following several days of illness.
    A life-long resident of Beaver Harbour, where he was born Dec. 25, 1878, a son of the late William E. and Nancy (Carr) Eldridge.
    During the years of the First World War, Mr. Eldridge was the Light House Keeper of Pea Point Light at Black's Harbour, and later was engaged in the fishing industry. At the time of his retirement, several years ago, he was employed with Connors Bros.
    He was a member of the local United Baptist Church, and as a young man was a member of the Beaver Harbour Brass Band.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Alberta Wright, a son, W. Garnett of Caithness, and two daughters, Mrs. Marvin M. Wright (Esther) and Mrs. G. Burrell Waite (Leona), both of Beaver Harbour. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one brother, Spencer Eldridge, and a sister, Mrs. Alma Justason, both of Beaver Harbour, and several nieces and nephews.
    The largely attended funeral was held from the St. George Funeral Home at St. George where the service was conducted by Rev. A.S. Carpenter and Rev. J.A. Secord. Members of the choir of Christ Anglican Church, Pennfield, sang a favorite hymn.
    The pallbearers were five nephews, Gordon, Millen, Alvah, Douglas Eldridge, and Edwin Justason and Loren Harvie.
    Interment was in the cemetery adjoining Christ Church, Pennfield.
    Many beautiful floral tributes were received and a number of donations made to the memorial funds of The Cancer Society, Canadian Heart Foundation, the Canadian Institute of the Blind, and the Fundy Hospital Association, made in Mr. Eldridge's memory.
    Attending the funeral were relatives and friends from Fredericton, St. Stephen, Bocabec, L'Etete, Moncton, Black's Harbour, Lepreau, Bonny River and from all nearby communities.

WRIGHT, SHIRLEY ANNE - Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Anne Wright of Pennfield, wife of Dale Wright, was held at Christ Anglican Church there with Rev. D. Murray Brown of Saint John West officiating.
    Pallbearers were Gerald H. Baldwin, Clifford Gowan, Kenneth Gowan, Jr., Charles Fullerton, James Hawkins and Donald Justason. The body rested at the St. George Funeral Home, St. George.
    Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
    Mrs. Wright's death occurred in the Saint John General Hospital following three weeks of illness.
    A daughter of Marion (Gowan) and George L. Baldwin, St. George, she was born in 1936. Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Eastern Charlotte Regional High School at St. George and of Teacher's College, Fredericton in 1957, and had taught in several schools within Charlotte County. At the time of her death she was principal of the Pennfield Elementary School. Prior to attending Teacher's College, she was employed with the Bell Telephone Company in Toronto for a year.
    Mrs. Wright was a member of the Church of Transfigurations at Bethel, and since her marriage has attended Christ Anglican Church, Pennfield.
    She was a member of Eastern Charlotte Teacher's Association, and of the Pennfield Home and School Association. Her only sister, Doris, died in 1946.
    Surviving are her husband, a son David Mark, age 11 years, and a year-old daughter, Sherrie-Rose at home; her parents, three brothers, William H. Baldwin, Saint John West; Constable Arnold G. Baldwin with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police , Digby, N.S. and David F. Baldwin, Saint John East; six nephews and nieces, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

PAUL, VANCE EDGAR - Vance E. Paul died at the Saint John General Hospital on Friday, July 31, 1970. He was born at Beaver Harbour June 21, 1925, the son of Clarence and Helen (Borthwick) Paul. In 1941 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served until the end of the Second World War. He was employed by Connors Bros. for several years as Engineer of the Fundy Cold Storage.
Survivors include his widow, Helen (Campbell) Paul, and one son Sterling of Chatham, N.B.

WRIGHT, MARVIN MARINER - BEAVER HARBOUR - The community was saddened to hear of the death of Marvin M. Wright of Beaver Harbour, Charlotte County, who passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, on January 14, 1974.
    Mr. Wright was born January 12, 1916, son of the late Theodore and Stella (Noddin) Wright of Beaver Harbour, N.B.
    On December 19, 1936, he was married by Rev. Harold A. Westrup to the Esther Mae Eldridge, daughter of Mrs. Percy Eldridge and the late Mr. Eldridge of Beaver Harbour. Mr. Wright was employed with Connors Bros. Ltd., as manager of the Northern Division at Caraque, N.B., at the time of his death. He attended the United Baptist Church at Beaver Harbour.
    Besides his wife he leaves to mourn, one son, Perry Dale Wright and three grandchildren of Pennfield, N.B.; one brother, Alvin Wright of Beaver Harbour; and several aunts and uncles.
    The body rested at St. George Funeral Home, where service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, conducted by Lic. Ronald E. Curtis, pastor of the United Baptist Church at Beaver Harbour, assisted by Rev. David Genge. Mrs. Lylah Cross sang "Old Rugged Cross", organist was Mrs. Edmund Bradford.
    Interment was made at Christ Church Cemetery, Pennfield.
    Pallbearers were B.J. Vickers, Marvin Sloan, Leonard Theriault, Donald Justason, Holmes Anderson, and Bernard Moses.
    Many lovely floral tributes were received as well as contributions to the different memorial funds in his memory.
    Attending the funeral from out of town were those from Fredericton, Shippigan and Caraquet, N.B.

Carter, in her 91st years; survived by one daughter, Mrs. Blanche McPhee of Sackville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces.

BENNETT, JESSIE ELIZABETH "Jessie" - All will miss Jessie E. (Betty) Bennett, loyal friend, loving wife of 53 years; devoted mother and sister; a grandmother with a heart of gold who passed away Jan. 30, 1991 in the Fundy Hospital.
    She was born in Pennfield, Jan. 8, 1919, daughter of the late Ronald and Olive (Nutter) Armstrong.
    She leaves to mourn, her husband, Basil; three daughters, Joan (Mrs. Sheldon Justason), Connie (Mrs. Dale Hatt), Barbara (Mrs. Allan Hatt) all of Pennfield; one son, Mervin Bennett of Stratford, Ont.; two sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Lewis Whittier) and Muriel Bennett; and one brother, Allan Armstrong, all of Pennfield; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    The funeral service was held at Christ Church, Pennfield with Rev. David Genge officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Glenn Gray and Archbishop Harold Nutter. The organist Mary Richardson played while the choir rendered "Farther Along" (We'll Understand Why).
    Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Michael, Peter, Barry, Kevin and Terry Hatt. Active pallbearers were Greg and Jeff Hatt, Doug Gaudett, Eric Koteff, Gene Chase, and Rick Doucett - grandsons and grandsons-in-law of the deceased. Craig Bennett another grandson from Stratford, Ontario, was unable to attend.
    The honorary pallbearers formed a guard of honor at the door. Numerous floral arrangements and memorials bore testimony to the esteem in which Betty was held.
    Arrangements were made by St. George Funeral Home.
    Interment took place in Christ Church Cemetery, Pennfield.

JUSTASON, HAZEL FERN - At the Fundy Nursing Home on Jan. 5, 1992, in her 92nd year, the community was saddened by the death of Hazel Fern (Mealey) Justason.
    Born in 1900, she was the daughter of the late Marie Mealey of Pennfield. Wife of the late Guy P. Justason, she made her home in Pennfield.
    She worked as a packer for Connors Bros., Blacks Harbour for many years.
    She is survived by two daughters, Bernadine (Deanie) Mrs. Jack MacLean, Josephine (Josie) Mrs. John Binet of London, ON, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Burton.
    She was a member of Christ Anglican Church in Pennfield and a member of the choir and Guild for many years. She also was a member of "The Fundy Tides" Senior Citizens group which she greatly enjoyed. Hazel enjoyed people and music.
    Funeral services were held at Christ Church Pennfield with Rev. Genge officiating. Hymns sung by the choir were Peace Perfect Peace and The Lord's My Shepherd.
    Many floral tributes and memorial donations were received in her honor.
    Pallbearers were Keith Borthwick, Carroll Borthwick, Graeme Johnson, Gerald Belliveau, Alvin Belliveau and Carl Boudreau.
    Interment in Christ Church Cemetery Pennfield.

LAWTON, GEORGE HERBERT - The death of George Herbert Lawton occurred at Saint John Regional Hospital, Aug. 1, 1993 at the age of 77. He was the eldest son of Herbert and Nellie Lawton and husband of Aloise (Alice) Garland, only child of the late Mrs. Beatrice Garland.
    A veteran of the Second World War, he enlisted in February, 1943, serving with a Highland Unit; he was wounded in Italy, hospitalized in England, then returned to active duty in England until his return to Canada when the war ended.
    After his discharge George made his home in Blacks Harbour, working for Connors Bros. for many years. He retired early due to ill health.
    In 1957 he moved to Pennfield where he enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden/ A devoted family man with a kind and friendly manner, he gave a warm welcome to all who visited his home.
    On Nov. 1, 1990 George and Alice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversay with an open house.
    Surviving besides his wife are one son, Raymond and his wife Lucy (French) of Pennfield, three daugthers - Cora and her husband, Bill Bush of Nova Scotia; Georgette of Sussex; Edith and her husband Gerry Paul of Beaver Harbour; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters Lillian (Mrs. Bernard Gregson) of St. Stephen and Ann (Mrs. Milton MacLean) of Harvey; one sister-in-law - Marie Lawton, St. Stephen, several nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters Violet, Edith and Ethel Merritt, three brothers Bill, Rupert and Trooper Alfred C. Lawton of the 8th Princess Louise NB Hussars killed in action in World War II in Lire Valley, Italy.
    Funeral service was held at the St. George Funeral Home conducted by Canon David Gegne and Rev. John Paul Wadlin.
    Pallbearers were Bill Bush, Bill Babcock, Michael Paul, Patric Neales, Carroll McGarrigle and Leonard Theriault.
    Interment was in the Anglican Church Cemetery, Pennfield.

BEST, ROY LEONARD - Roy Leonard, after a courageous battle at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario, on Wednesday, October 6, 1993, in his 73rd year. Roy, loving father of Bonita Joyce Leighton of Back Bay, N.B., John W. Best of St. Andrews, N.B., Lisa Ferretti of St. George, Ontario, Roy Ann Best of Wayne Fleet, Ontario, also survived by his sister, Mrs. Guy Thompson, Laura of Sussex, George Best of Hagersville, Ontario. Predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Ernest Cross, Jenny, of Beaver Harbour. Lovingly remembered by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Friday, October 8, 1993, in Kingston, Ontario. Committal service to be held on Thursday, October 14, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Pennfield, N.B.

ELDRIDGE, RAYMOND BURTON - Raymond Burton Eldridge of Beaver Harbour, beloved husband of Theresa M. (MacEachern) Eldridge, died unexpectedly at his residence Oct. 16.
    He was born in Beaver Harbour, the son of the late Maurice S. Eldridge and Ida M. (Maxwell) Eldridge. In earlier years, he worked as a weir and lobster fisherman, then moved to Saint John where he worked for the Saint John Milling Company, PolyCello, and retired from the Bank of Canada. He served in the Second World War in the RCNVR, having served overseas on HMCS Teme. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and returned to Beaver Harbour in his retirement years, where he attended Christ Anglican Church in Pennfield.
    Besides his wife, his is survived by one daughter, Janice Lea and her husband, Leland Thomas of Saint John; one son Maurice Alexander and his wife Sharon of Rothesay; two sisters Mrs. Enid Theriault of Beaver Harbour and Mrs. Rowena Seamans of Hamilton, Ontario; two brothers Adrian and J. Charles of Pennfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    The body rested at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row.
    Funeral service will be held at Christ Anglican Church, Pennfield at 2 p.m., Oct. 20 with Rev. Canon David Genge officiating.
    Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ Anglican Church (Building Fund), Pennfield, or the charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by the family.

Born at Lake Utopia, son of the late John and Alice (Spear) Borthwick. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Barbara (Mrs. John McDowell) of Pennfield, three sons, Keith of L'Etang, Carroll of Seeley's Cove, and Glendon of Pennfield, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson Rodney, four brothers, Chandler, Ernest, John and Robert and four sisters, Helen, Grace, Eva and Mabel. He lived all of his life in Pennfield, and has been retired for a number of years from Connors Brothers in Black's Harbour. He was also a life long member of Christ Anglican Church in Pennfield, N.B.

WRIGHT, MELVIN CAMERON - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen on April 25, 1995, Mr. Melvin Cameron Wright of St. George, formerly of Beaver Harbour, in his 80th year, husband of Mrs. Louise (Maxwell) Wright. Son of the the late Cameron and Jessie (Eldridge) Wright of Beaver Harbour. Survived by his wife, one daughter, Patricia Cooke of St. George, three grandchildren, Valerie, Melanie and Jason all at home, two sisters, Ora Olthouse of Beaver Harbour, and Lulu Burkeholder of St. Stephen, one brother, Lewis of Missouri and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Nellie McLean of Blacks Harbour.

REDSTONE, MYRTLE LOUISE - Myrtle Louise (Justason) Redstone passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 1996 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton. She had recently moved from McAdam, N.B. to Fredericton. She was born in Pennfield, Charlotte County in 1913, a daughter of the late Walter Daniel and Nellie May (Jack) Justason. She was a life long Anglican and was active in the churches, choirs and Women's Auxiliaries of the communities where she lived; Pennfield, Fredericton Junction, East Florenceville and McAdam.
    Myrtle is survived by one daughter Eleanor MacInnis of Bramalea, Ont.; four sons - Harold of Kitchener, Ont., Carl of Tampa, Fla., Dyrlin and Wayne of Fredericton; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband William Arthur Redstone, her parents, three sisters - Evelyn, Ada and Mildred; five brothers - Guy, Joseph, Hazen, Dyrlin and Vincent. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
    Resting from Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton with visitation being held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996 at 11 a.m. at Bishop's Funeral Home with Cannon John Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place in the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Pennfield, N.B. at 2:30 p.m.

    Mr. Justason was born in St. George, November 13, 1911, son of the late Thomas Justason and May (Borthwick) Justason. He retired from the Dept. of Transportation.
    As requested by Mr. Justason, there will be no visitation or memorial service. A graveside service will be held at a later date with interment at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Pennfield.

OLTHOUSE, ORA SERETHA - After a lengthy illness, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen on March 17, 1999, Mrs. Ora Seretha Olthouse of Beaver Harbour, N.B., wife of the late Sheldon Olthouse. Born in Beaver Harbour on April 3, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Cameron E. and Jessie A. (Eldridge) Wright. She is survived by one sister, Lulu, Mrs. Stewart Burkholder of St. Stephen; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Louise Wright of Lake Utopia and Mrs. Audrey Wright of Maitland, Missouri; several nieces and nephews. PAUL, WELDON ELDRIDGE - Peacefully and unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 17, 2000, surrounded by all his children, Mr. Weldon Eldridge Paul of Carleton Kirk Place, Saint John, NB and formerly of Beaver Harbour. Husband of the late Blanche Helen (Henry) Paul. Born in Beaver Harbour on January 15, 1917, he was a son of the late Allan and Vera (Justason) Paul.
    A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by five daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Joseph Lafferty of St. George, Barbara, Mrs. Gerald Morris of Rothesay, Darlene, Mrs. Robert Gray, Wanda, Mrs. Paul Maguire and Debbie, Mrs. Brian Shannon, all of Saint John; four sons, Danny and his wife, Judy of Lepreau, Kevin and his wife, Christine, Kenny and his wife, Claire and Richard and his wife, Kathy, all of Saint John; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth and his wife, Lucine of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Paul was predeceased by three brothers, Norman, Clifford and Daryl and one sister, Joyce.
    During WWII, Weldon served in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve, enlisting in 1939. For many years he worked for Ocean Steel as a crane operator, until his retirement.

A loving father and grandfather he is survived by his wife; 1 son Rudy and wife Barbara of Grand Bay, NB; 2 daughters Karen, Mrs. Austin Merrill of Blacks Harbour and Janice, Mrs. David Stewart of Pennfield; 1 step daughter, Darlene Bamford of Doaktown; 2 step sons Jerry Bamford of Fredericton and Paul Bamford of Lincoln, NB, 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandson, 1 brother Michael and wife Penny of Toronto; 2 sisters Mrs. Elaine Wentworth of Elmsdale, NS and Mrs. Florence Chambers of Blacks Harbour; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his first wife Jessie (Ingalls) Moses and 3 brothers Donald, Joe and Bernard.
Harry was an ardent sports fan especially when it came to baseball and hockey. He always cheered for the underdogs. He enjoyed the outdoors particularly gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield and also a member of the Vestry and a Church Warden for the same. Harry worked and retired from Connors Brothers after 25+ years of service.

MURPHY, NINA MYRTLE - After a brief illness at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on April 13, 2001, Mrs. Nina Myrtle (Noddin) Murphy in her 105th year, of Deadmans Harbour, NB and wife of the late Burton A. Murphy. Born in Deadmans Harbour, NB on October 9, 1896 she was a daughter of the late William and Marcella (Johnson) Noddin. A loving mother and grandmother she is survived by her daughter Phyllis Murphy of Utopia; one granddaughter Nancy Armstrong of St. George; three grandsons Dennis and Mark Armstrong both of Utopia and Bruce Armstrong of Barrie, ON; three great grandchildren; Clifford and Lisa Armstrong both of Alliston, ON and Georgina Armstrong of St. George; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers; Leonard, George and Vernard and five sisters; Ethel, Lavinia, Stella, Lucretia and Arlene. Nina was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Nina was a member of the Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield. She worked for Connors Brothers off and on for over 40 years as a packer. Her greatest hobby was making crafts of all sorts for the Cottage Craft in St. Andrews, NB for many years. Because of her hobby she really enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and quilting.

Born in Beaver Harbour on October 8, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Almon and Lucy (Pond) Hawkins. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son Larry and wife Betty of Beaver Harbour; daughter Lucy, Mrs. Raymond Lawton of Pennfield; two grandchildren, Jason French and fiancee, Marsha and Dorothy Lynn French and friend, Mike, both of Kitchener, ON. Sadly missed by Betty’s children, Lori and husband, Jeff McNeil and their son, Owen of Burlington, ON and Bill Berscht and his companion, Kate of Winterbourne, ON; two sisters, Clara Turner of Copper Cliff, ON and Glenna Leighton of Pennfield; four brothers, Arnold (Vera) of Beaver Harbour; Harry and John (Phyllis) both of Sudbury, ON and Tommy (Anita) of Pennfield; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers, Garland and Adolphus and one sister, Mary Irish . Vera was a former employee of Connors Bros. where she worked for over 30 years. She was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield. Vera enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and a good joke, whether telling one or hearing one. She was very devoted to her bible studies and religious functions at the Lodge.

CROSBY, CHARLES DAVID NEVILLE - At the Montreal Chest Institute, Montreal, P.Q. on Sept. 4, 2001, following a brief illness, Mr. Charles David Neville Crosby of Montreal and formerly of St. George, N.B. Born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on January 27, 1968 he was a son of Charles (Chuck) Crosby and the late Margaret Lynn (Gillespie) Crosby.
He is survived by his father, stepmother Linda Crosby both of St. George; Paternal grandmother Lillian Crosby of Utopia; maternal grandparents Harold and Hazel Gillespie of Utopia, three brothers Anthony Crosby of Edmonton, Alta., Brock Parks of Fredericton and Brad Parks of Toronto, Ont.; two sisters, April, Mrs. Trevor Lomax of St. George, and Katie Crosby of St. George; one niece Holly Parks of Fredericton, one nephew Forrest Lomax of St. George and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Tom Crosby. Charles was a chef by trade. He worked in various parts of New Brunswick including the Algonquin in St. Andrews and Don Cherry’s Grapevine in Saint John. He loved to cook, was an avid photographer and enjoyed interior decorating as a hobby.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield, N.B., with Rev. Fred Gay and Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating. Born in Hanwell Settlement, N.B. on June 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Beatrice Anne (Melton) Garland. A loving mother and grandmother, Aloise is survived by: one son Raymond and his wife Lucy of Pennfield, N.B., three daughters: Cora, Mrs. Bill Bush of Hampton, N.S., Georgette Smith of Sussex, N.B. and Edith, Mrs. Gerry Paul of Beaver Harbour, N.B., eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister Yvonne LeBlanc of Saint John, N.B. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield as well as the Fundy Seniors. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and talking to her many friends on the phone. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

ARMSTRONG, SYLVIA - The death of Sylvia (Handeland) Armstrong, wife of the late John Armstrong of Pennfield occurred on March 14, 2003 at the Charlotte County Hospital. Born in Sauda, Norway, July 1927, she was the daughter of the late Kristen and Gertrude Handeland. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by four daughters and one son, Linda Armstrong of Sudbury, ON; Mary Craig of St. George, NB; Sonja Nagel of Victoria, BC; David Armstrong of Mascarene, NB and Susan Armstrong of St. George, NB. Also survived by two brothers, Clarence and George Handeland, two sisters, Sonja Glionna and Dagney Snow, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many relatives in Norway. Sylvia’s great loves in life were her family. She loved making silk flower arrangements and gift baskets for her friends and church. She was an avid gardener.
Following cremation, visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18th from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Anglican Christ Church in Pennfield followed by the service at 3 pm with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. Internment will be held at Christ Church Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street. TATTON, CLAYTON WILLIAM - Unexpectedly, at his residence in Pennfield, NB, on July 15, 2003, Mr. Clayton William Tatton.
    Born in St. Stephen, NB on March 21, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Hutton) Tatton.
    Clayton is survived by one uncle, Stanley (Marguerite) Spinney of Kelly Road and several cousins locally, in western Canada and USA. He was pre-deceased by one sister, Helen.
    Clayton was an avid hunter, fisherman and crib player. He enjoyed wood carving and was a local folk artist. He was the volunteer "Rainfall Data Monitor" for Eastern Charlotte Waterways for many years. He worked as grounds keeper for New River Beach Provincial Park and was custodian with the RCMP in St. George, NB. For many years he had been the area weather recorder for Environment Canada, and was a hunting and fishing guide.
    At his request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2003 at Christ Church (Anglican) Pennfield at 2 pm with Canon David Genge officiating, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Following the committal, a reception will be held at Smith's Restaurant, Pennfield Ridge where he was made at home. In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

ARMSTRONG, ALLAN BURRELL - Unexpectedly at his residence, in Pennfield Ridge, NB on August 26, 2003, Mr. Allan Burrell Armstrong, husband of Donna M. (Gaudet) Armstrong. Born in Pennfield, NB on October 2, 1933, he was a son of the late Ranald E. and Jesse O. (Nutter) Armstrong. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Ranald (Kimberley) Armstrong; three grandchildren, Crystal, Cody and Carlie; two sisters, Muriel Bennett and Shirley Whittier, both of Pennfield, NB; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Lorene Olive Armstrong; two brothers, Basil and Darrell; two sisters, Kathleen and Betty. Allan had been employed with Lake Utopia Paper for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He also loved curling and was a former member of the St. George Curling Club and also the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club.

Leona was an avid curler and enjoyed knitting. She was a great lover of children. She was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church and the St. George Curling Club.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one son, Maynard (Gail) Justason of Canal, NB; two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Ken Hooper) of Blacks Harbour, NB and Pauline Tucker of Saint John, NB; six grandchildren, Peggy Tucker of St. Stephen, NB, Cindy Ferriere (Dale) of Rollingdam, NB, Gregory Hooper of Blacks Harbour, NB, Bill (Tracy) Justason of Seattle Washington, USA, Sari Justason of Pennfield, NB and Bradley Justason of St. Stephen, NB; three great-grandchildren, John Daniel (JD), Taylor and Cassidy Justason; one sister, Roberta Dick of Letete; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary is also survived by several cousins including Randy Barry, Wendy Burns, Vicky Barry and Sammy Thorne.

BORTHWICK, DAISY LOUISE - Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on June 1, 2004, Mrs. Daisy Louise (Cooke) Borthwick, of Pennfield, NB, in 97th year, wife of the late Hazen T. Borthwick. Born in L’Etang, NB on April 25, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Goldwin and Annie (Hatt) Cooke. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by three sons, Keith (Marion) of L’Etang, NB, Carroll (Orla) of Seeley’s Cove, NB and Glendon (Ellen)of Pennfield, NB; one daughter, Barbara (John) McDowell of Pennfield, NB; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Carson (Roberta) Cooke of L’Etang, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and especially her self-adopted son, Billy Wright, of Pennfield, NB. She was pre-deceased by one grandson, Rodney McDowell; three sisters, Florence, Hilda and Nellie; one brother, Percy.
Daisy was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Fundy Tides Seniors’ Club. Daisy was a special lady and a member of the community, opening her home to anyone and was a mom to everybody. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held on Friday at 2 pm from Christ Church (Anglican) Pennfield, with her grandson, Rev. Kevin Borthwick, officiating, followed by interment in the church cemetery. HANLEY, FARREN GLEN - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB, on Saturday June 5, 2004, the death of Mr. Farren Glen Hanley of Pennfield, NB, husband of Margaret "Maggie" Louise (Higgins) Hanley.
    Born in Blacks Harbour NB, on March 10, 1960, he was a son of the late Hollis Percy Cook and the late Treva Belle (Harris) Hanley.
    Farren worked as a labourer for Connors Brothers and Larry Foster.
    Surviving besides his loving wife Maggie, Farren will be missed and always loved by his children, Joel (Amanda) and daughters Aimee (Jeff) and Lynnsi, and his loving grandson Zachary; eight sisters, Crystal Parks (Gary), Vickie Mersereau (Kevin), Rhoda Kernighan (Michael), Patricia Taylor (Larry Jr.), Twila McLaughlin (David), Debra Hanley, Marla McGee, and Lorraine Hanley (Billy); five brothers, James Hanley (Edith), Randall Hanley (Christine), Ross Hanley (Betty), Eldon Hanley (Marilyn), and Maynard Hanley (Ellen). Farren was predeceased by a brother, Clark Hanley and a sister, Edna Hooper.
    A devoted family man, Farren was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved music. He especially enjoyed spending time and playing with his grandson Zachary.
    Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB, with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

BORTHWICK, CARROLL FRANKLIN - Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on June 21, 2004, Mr. Carroll Franklin Borthwick, 67, beloved husband of Orla (McAdam) Borthwick of Seeley’s Cove, NB. Born in L’Etang, NB on January 2, 1937, he was a son of the late Hazen and Daisy (Cooke) Borthwick. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Douglas (Mary Ann) Borthwick of Moncton, NB; three daughters, Dawn (James) Clark of Utopia, Denise (Derek) Hanley of Upper L’Etang, and Darlene (Ash) Thompson of Canal; four grandchildren, Matthew and Courtney Clark, and Paige and Regan Hanley; two brothers, Keith (Marion) Borthwick of L’Etang, and Glendon (Ellen) Borthwick of Pennfield; one sister, Barbara (Jack) McDowell of Pennfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Carroll began his careers as a Fireman/Engineer with CPR; he fished the weirs in the Bay of Fundy; he was also an accomplished Heavy Equipment Operator. At the age of 52, he returned to Saint John Community College and earned his GED and went on to receive a diploma in cabinet making.
    Carroll was a loving husband/father who enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. Carroll and Orla enjoyed their summers camping with their many friends. He was a life long member of Christ Church (Anglican) Pennfield.

SPEAR, JOSEPHINE REBECCA "Jo" - Josephine (Jo) Rebecca (Harlow) Spear passed away at York Manor in Fredericton on Saturday, September 18, 2004.
    She is survived by two sons, David James of Fredericton and Bill (Lynn) of Saint John, six daughters, Joanne Maxwell (Glenn) of Saint John, Barb Maxwell (Norman O’Brien) of Saint John, Joyce Spear of Fredericton, Judy Banks (Bill) of Fredericton, Beth Spear (Jim Goldrich) of Saint John, and Deenie Wilson (Gil) of L’Etete, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great- grandchildren. Jo was predeceased by her husband, Bernard (Bun) Taylor Spear, son Robert Murray Spear, grandson Andrew Maxwell and son-in-law Gene Maxwell.
    Bun and Jo spent their married life and raised their nine children in Seeleys Cove, NB. After Bun’s death in 1984, Jo moved to Fredericton. She suffered a stroke in 1995 and has been a resident of York Manor since that time. She will be sadly missed by her children and her friends at York Manor who gave her such affectionate care over the past ten years.

Born in Sussex, NB, she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Ida (McCafferty) Brooks. Bessie graduated from Sussex High School in 1931 and Moncton Community College in 1968, she was employed at Saint John Vocational High School as a Hairdresser / Teacher in 1969. She is survived by sons Charles (Margaret) Gibbs of Niagara Falls, ON, Rev. Robert (Marguerite) Barry of Dumfries, NB, Ian Barry of Minnesota, Carl (Glenna) Barry of Truro, NS, Paul Barry of Manitoba, sisters, Edith Marie Bell of London, ON, Effie Ruth Morton of Fairvale, NB, brother Emery Arthur Brooks of Saint John, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

WADLIN, LOUISE CELESTE "Lois" - Louise Celeste (Lois Armstrong) Connors, 77, of St. George, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, April 4, 2005, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Maude (Hill) Connors. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Parker Wadlin, eight sisters and three brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Lois loved the outdoors and the warm summer months. She enjoyed hunting season in the fall with her family and time spent at the camp. Lois will be sadly missed by her sons, Parky (Anne) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Pat (Kathy) of Riverview; grandchildren, Tammy, Tara, Maria, Jeffrey, and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Brady, Ty; several nieces and nephews.
As per Lois’ wishes, she was forwarded for cremation. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery, Pennfield, on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 11:30 am, with Rev. Fr. John Ighacho officiating. Born in St. George, NB, on October 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Carrie (Gillis) McLanaghan. Helen was a member of the Harbour View Seniors Club for a number of years. Besides her husband Ernest, she is survived by one son, Ernest “ Melbourne” Gaudet of Blacks Harbour, NB, one daughter, Donna Armstrong of Pennfield, NB, five grandchildren, nine great–grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by a brother, Fred McLanaghan.

Born in Blacks Harbour N.B on May 6,1917, he was a son of the late A. Jesse and Annie Phylena “Lena” (Wilcox) Gaudet. A loving father, grandfather and brother, Ernie is survived by one son, Ernest “Melbourne” Gaudet of Blacks Harbour; one daughter, Donna Armstrong of Pennfield NB; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, James (Georgina) of Blacks Harbour, Burton (Lola) of Windsor ON, Maynard (Zella) of St. George; five sisters, Myrtle Lee of St. George, Dorothy (Glendon) Carr of Sussex, Belva (Newton) Carol of Doaktown, Marjorie Grant of St. George and Mary (Austin) Richardson of Blacks Harbour; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and two brothers, Alfie and Albert, he recently was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Helen, on July 2, 2005.
Ernie was a welder and machinist by trade, having worked for and retiring from Connors Brothers after 50 plus years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ernie was a member of the Harbour View Seniors as well as a 50 year member of the St. George Masonic Lodge #12 F& AM. At his request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery with Rev. Keith Osborne and Canon David Genge officiating. WAITE, BEATRICE ROBERTA "Bea" - Peacefully, at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on March 23, 2006, Mrs. Beatrice Roberta (Pendleton) Waite, formerly of Beaver Harbour, NB. Born at Deer Island, NB on May 16, 1918, she was the youngest daughter of the late Clifford and Madeline (Stuart) Pendleton. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by four daughters, Gloria (Claude) Holland of Beaver Harbour, Gail (Maynard) Justason of Canal, Marilyn (Reginald) Richardson of Deer Island, and Barbara Maxwell of Burlington, ON; two sons, Douglas Waite of Shediac and Ralph (Judy) Waite of Beaver Harbour; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn O’Neill of Blacks Harbour; one brother, Keith Pendleton of Deer Island; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant son, Douglas Edward; one sister, Leona Eldridge; two brothers, Maurice & Chandler Pendleton; a son-in-law, Vernon Maxwell; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Waite.
A large part of Bea’s childhood was spent living on Campobello, returning to Deer Island at the age of 13. At the age of 19, she married Douglas Waite and moved to Beaver Harbour. For several years she worked for Connors Bros. Ltd., and at the age of 50, went back to school and obtained her Nursing Assistant diploma at the St. Andrews Community College. She then finished out her remaining career years working at the Fundy Hospital in Blacks Harbour. She was a devoted member of Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield, and was especially adored by all her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the Brunswick Curling Club in Blacks Harbour and the Registered Nursing Assistants Association of New Brunswick. She will be remembered always for her many kindnesses and love of people.

McKAY, DONALD WILLIAM "Don" - Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 5th, 2006, Mr. Donald William McKay, husband of Emma “Sue” (Scullion) McKay, of Pennfield, NB. Born at L’Etang, NB on October 6, 1924, he was a son of the late Robert M. and Katherine (Hinds) McKay. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived, besides his wife, by one daughter, Lorna (Steven) Ball of Fredericton; one son, John McKay of Pennfield; two grandchildren, Stuart and Donald Ball of Fredericton; one sister, Pauline Sprague of Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Donald was a life long employee with CP Rail as an engineer. He loved mechanical work. He had served in England with the RCAF as an aircraft mechanic during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #40, St. George, was a Shriner, a member of the Masonic Lodge #12, F & AM, and the Luxor Flag Unit. Don was also a member of Christ Church (Anglican) Pennfield, for many years.

WADLIN, ORLAND TAYLOR - The death of Orland Taylor Wadlin of Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Della (Fisher) Wadlin, occurred on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born February 16, 1910 in Beaver Harbour, NB, a son of the late Walter Steadman and Mary Emma (Snyder) Wadlin.
    Orland was a veteran of World War II, serving as Sergeant Instructor with the Provost Corp. Following the war he worked for the Sugar Refinery as a Machine Operator.
    Survived by his children, Sherman (Marlene) Wadlin of Beaver Harbour and Nina (Lawrence) Ewart of Saint John; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother, Basil.
    Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with a memorial service from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 1 pm. Interment will be in Pennfield Anglican Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

STUART, CLIFFORD "ALLAN" - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on August 10th, 2006, Mr. Clifford Allan Stuart, husband of Mrs. Rita Louise (Harris) Stuart, of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield, NB on March 30th, 1932, he was a son of the late Frederick and Blanche A. (Munroe) Stuart. A loving husband, father and grandfather he is survived by his wife, Rita; seven sons; Richard (Lorna) of Calais ME, Frederick (Helene) of Beaver Harbour NB, Ross (Bonnie) of BC, James of Back Bay NB, Ronnie (Marg) of Blacks Harbour NB, Douglas (Lisa) of Pennfield and Matthew also of Pennfield; four daughters; Joanne (John) Guthrie of Seeleys Cove NB, Darline (Tom) Murphy of Pennfield, Elaine Hawkins of Pennfield and Sandra (Don) Woods of Saint John NB; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Allison (Betty) Stuart of Saint John; one sister, Gwen McGee of St. Stephen NB; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Known as Allan to his friends and family, he was a hard working man and worked for 30 years as a Lighthouse Keeper for Transport Canada. He was an artist, who enjoyed painting wildlife and creating beautiful wood carvings of animals. He loved four wheeling and motorcycling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Allan was an active member of both the Charlotte County ATV Association and a volunteer with the Charlotte County Ground Search and Rescue.

TAYLOR, DORIS MARGARET "Dot" - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, surrounded by her family, Doris Margaret Taylor, wife of the late Thomas Henry Taylor of St. George, NB, passed on to be with the lord on October 23, 2006 in her ninetieth year. Born in Pennfield, NB, on October 27, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Wainwright) Palk.
    She is survived by two sons; Blair (Susan) Taylor of Red Deer AB, Larry (Karen) Taylor of Saint John NB, seven daughters; Irene (Cecil) Moreside of Calais ME, Joyce Parks and Rosealene (Paul) Graham both of Guelph ON, Beatrice Dorey of Oshawa ON, Nancy (Ron) McFarlane of Lake Utopia NB, Elizabeth (Phil) Marrs of Old Town ME, Linda (Tim) Henderson of St. Andrews NB, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two sisters; Betty (Wesley) Cook of Pennfield, Eleanor Young of Saint John and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Doris was predeceased by her husband Thomas, one son; Eugene, one daughter; Lillian, one grandson; Philip Moreside, one son-in-law; Philip Parks, three brothers and two sisters.
    Dot was an avid gardener, and could often be seen planting flowers. She made the most of her life and always enjoyed helping others whenever she could. Dot’s greatest love in life was children.

ELDRIDGE, BARBARA GENE - The death of Barbara Gene Eldridge, wonderful wife of Rev. Ernie Eldridge of Beaver Harbour, N.B. occurred in the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, on November 10, 2006 following a long and courageous struggle with ALS. For the last four years she was a resident of Fundy Nursing Home where she received excellent care.
Barbara was born in Saint John, NB, on April 27, 1935 and the only child of Harold and Vida Eldridge who are both deceased. She grew up in the city and was a graduate of Saint John High School and also attended Mount Allison University. She and her parents were active members of the Baptist Church. Barbara also worked in the City a few years before going to Toronto, where she met the Rev. Ernie Eldridge and became a member of the Anglican Church. They were married May 18, 1957 and Ministered in Northern Ontario for three years after which they moved to Vancouver where they served in several parishes for thirty-five years. They went on pension in 1994 and moved back to New Brunswick. Barbara was not only involved in the church and community, but was especially a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her devoted husband, her children, Miriam Avery (Hartley) of Beaver Harbour, Thomas (Heather) Kingston, Ontario, and three grandchildren, Heather Avery (Luke), Cailin (Corey) Richard and Devon Eldridge (Marsha). Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N .B. Cremation Memorial Service and Interment of Ashes and Reception will be held at Christ Church Pennfield on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 2 p.m.

Born in Beaver Harbour on September 3, 1921, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lena (Dickson) Hawkins. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived by his loving wife Kay, three sons; Colin of Ottawa ON, D. Kevin (Kerrie) of Blacks Harbour NB and Daniel of Grand Manan NB, three daughters; Ruby (Bill) Scott of Halifax NS, Corlea (George) Losier of Saint John NB and Sally (Tony) Nabuurs of Beaver Harbour, one daughter in law; Darlene Hawkins of Pennfield, 11 grandchildren; Neil (Mary) Hawkins, Sean Hawkins, Katie (Dave) Valiquette, Suzanne Hawkins, Robert Scott, Andrea (Wayne) Thompson, Sarah English, Zachary and Stephanie Nabuurs, Lindsay and Sarah Hawkins, 8 great grandchildren; Tyler and Jonathan Hawkins, Spencer, D. Tyler and Lacey Hawkins, Kathleen and Joshua Thompson and Maria Valiquette, two sisters; Gladys Stewart and Lila Wright both of Sudbury ON, one brother; James (Florence) Hawkins of Beaver Harbour, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Rodney and Derwyn and by one brother Malcolm.
Floyd was born a man of the sea and a Sea Captain for many years. Remembered fondly as skipper of the W.A. Moore. In his early years he worked in the fishery until he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. The first ship he was assigned to was the HMCS ACHATES which was sunk only ten days after he began his service off the coast of England. He then was assigned to the HMCS HAIDA full time, until the end of the war. After returning home to Beaver Harbour he again made his living on the Bay of Fundy, fishing Lobster and Ground Fish. He was also a dedicated Weir fisherman. Floyd was well known and well respected and an advocate for the Maritime Fisheries.
The family will receive friends at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage St, St. George NB, on Wednesday evening from 6-9 pm. The service will be held at Christ Church (Anglican) Pennfield NB on Thursday at 2:00 pm followed by interment in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Fundy Nursing Home in memory of Floyd.

Whittier of Pennfield NB. Born on October 10, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Randall and Olive (Nutter) Armstrong. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Shirley is survived by: two daughters; Kathy (Peter) Spear and Cindy (Kenny) Seamans both of St. George, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister; Muriel Bennett of Pennfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by; two daughters: Wanda Savard and Sharon Murray, three brothers; Allan, Basil and Daryl and two sisters; Betty Bennett and Kathleen Ancrum.
Shirley was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield and prior to her retirement employed by Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. JACK, FREDERICK JOSEPH "Ted" - Unexpectedly at The Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB, on July 27,2007, Mr. Frederick (Ted) Joseph Jack, husband of Mrs. Glenna (Cathline) Jack of Utopia NB. Born in Pennfield, NB on May 8, 1935 he was the son of the late G. Alex and Annie (Tatton) Jack. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Glenna, one daughter; Susan Jack (Stephane Bolduc) of Saint John NB, three sons; Peter (Debbie) Jack of Moncton NB, David (Wendy) Jack of Halifax NS and Jamie Jack (Stacie Field) of Maces Bay NB and his three grandchildren: Miranda, Aaron and Alex.
Ted and his family lived in Saint John for many years, where he was employed as a manager of NB Tel. Following his retirement, Ted moved back to his boyhood home in Pennfield where he grew and sold Christmas Trees, a hobby that he and his father began in 1967. Always active in his community, Ted was a president of the NB Chapter of the CNIB, and a past warden of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George.
Resting at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George NB from where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am followed by interment at the Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in Pennfield. Visitation at the church will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. JUSTASON, MAYNARD EUGENE - Peacefully at his residence on January 24th 2008,Mr Maynard Eugene Justason of Canal, NB, husband of Gail (Waite) Justason .He was born at Black’s Harbour, NB. on May 11th 1938, son of the late Emery and Margaret (Leavitt) Justason. He attended school at Black’s Harbour and in his early years was employed by Connors Bros. at their retail store. In later years he became self employed and operated several business’ at the Pennfield Corner, which included a grocery store, a furniture store, pool hall as well as a recycling depot. He was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing and also was a former member of the Black’s Harbour and St George Curling Clubs.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by two sons; Bill (Tracy) Justason of Blaine, WA., and Brad Justason (Nathalie Page) of St George, NB, one daughter; Sari Justason (Jeff Stewart) of Pennfield ,NB., and two grandchildren; Taylor and Cassidy Justason, two sisters; Pauline (late Bernard) Tucker of Saint John, NB., and Carolyn (Ken ) Hooper of Black’s Harbour NB., and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the St George Funeral Home and Crematorium, 26 Portage St, St George, NB, from where the service will be held on Sunday at 2pm at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel with Rev. McVICAR, LUCY PEARL - Peacefully with family at her side, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB, May 13th, 2008, Mrs. Lucy Pearl (Patterson) McVicar, wife of the late Reginald Arthur McVicar of Seelye’s Cove NB. Born at St. Martin’s NB on June 29th, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Johanna (Myles) Patterson. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one son, Joe and his companion Phyllis Cusack of Barnesville NB, eight daughters; Donna Clark of St. George NB, Barbara Black of Saint John NB, Roberta Mersereau and Martha Morecraft (Calvin) both of Harvey NB, Clara Leslie (Junior) of Pennfield NB, Thelma Lomax (Paul) of Little Lepreau NB, Connie McVicar of Sussex NB and Lynda Lomax of Saint John, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three sons; Gerald, James and infant son Robert Bruce, one grandson, Lorrie Morecraft, infant granddaughter, Kelly Jean Lomax, four brothers and five sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Lucy was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 Auxilliary of St. George. She was active in church activities and was also an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and always cheered for her favourite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Lucy enjoyed flowers and loved playing Bingo.

Born at Beaver Harbour on October 30, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Ida (Maxwell) Eldridge. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Enid is survived by her husband, Leonard, one son, Burton Theriault of Beaver Harbour, two daughters; Rosalind (Lloyd) Foster of St. George NB and Lenora Lomax of Little Lepreau NB, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers.
Prior to her retirement, Enid worked as a Packer for Connor’s Bros. in Blacks Harbour for many years. She was a member of the OES Granite Chapter #15 of St. George and of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church.
At Enid’s request no visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held at a later date. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband, Glendon, she is survived by three sons; Stephen Borthwick of Woodstock NB, Tommy (Patti) Borthwick of Utopia NB and Garth (Dolores) Borthwick of Pennfield, one daughter, Sally (Timmy) Richard of Pennfield, 10 grandchildren; Brian, Lindsey, Andrew, Raelene, Mitchell, Cody, Michael, Tyler, Kendra, and special grandson Joshua, four great grandchildren, two sisters; Bertha (Irving) Muise and Floretta Perreault both of Pennfield, one brother, Myles Bradford of Toronto ON and several nieces, nephews and couins. Ellen was predeceased by two brothers; Chipman and Theodore and by two sisters; Deannie Thorne and Lillian Guitard.
Prior to her retirement, Ellen worked in the cafeteria at Fundy High School, St. George NB for 25 years. She was completely devoted to her family and loved being a grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and crocheting in her spare time.

WADLIN, BLAIR CHARLES - Blair Charles Wadlin, 104 years, passed away at the Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, formerly of St. George, on Friday November 21, 2008. He was the son of the late Charles and Edith Wadlin. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on January 9, 1904. He is survived by one granddaughter Sandra (Wadlin) Zarins of Brampton, ON; daughter-in-law Marion Wadlin of Pennfield, NB; brother Lawrence Wadlin of Moncton; several nieces and nephews. He was a Veteran of the First World War, a member of the Merchant Navy and of the St. George AM/FM No. 12 Masons for 62 years. He was predeceased by his wife Ada (Justason) Wadlin, son Carl Wadlin, three brothers Roy Wadlin, Ernest Wadlin and Hollis (Buster) Wadlin; three sisters Betty (Wadlin) Palk, Bertie Wadlin and Verta (Wadlin) Justason.
A Memorial Service will be held from Christ Anglican Church, Pennfield on Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Armstrong formerly of Pennfield NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on April 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Helen (McClanaghan) Gaudet. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Donna is survived by one son, Randy (Kim) Armstrong of Pennfield NB, three grandchildren; Crystal, Cody and Carlie, one brother, Mel (Theresa) Gaudet of Blacks Harbour NB and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to her retirement, Donna was a Sales Clerk at both the Connor’s Bros. Store, Blacks Harbour NB and Al Sullivan’s Market, Pennfield NB. She was a friendly face who liked to meet new people. She enjoyed quilting and completing jigsaw puzzles.

ARMSTRONG, GORDON GEORGE - At his residence, on January 14, 2009, Mr. Gordon George Armstrong, husband of Mrs. Shirley (Tian) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour on November 27, 1931, he was a son of Leota (Noddin) Armstrong and the late Robert Armstrong. A loving husband, father, son, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Carol Augustin of Brampton ON and Ruth Armstrong of Mississauga ON, his mother, Leota Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two grandchildren; Aaron and Stephanie, one brother, Brendan (Leona) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour, two sisters; Leora (George) Murchison of Grand Bay NB and Mary Ellen Armstrong of Belleisle NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert.
Gordon moved back to Blacks Harbour after an 18 year career as a Police Officer in Toronto ON. He joined the force on November 13, 1961 and served with the Emergency Task Force and later transferred to Intelligence and retired on March 31, 1978. He loved hunting, fishing and shot a deer in 2007 that he was very proud of.

A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister in law, she is survived by two daughters; Villa Viola (Myles) Currie of Rothesay NB and Pauline (Richard) Stewart of Pennfield, one grandson, Christoper Scott (Crystal) Currie of Saint John NB, great granddaughter, Chelsea, special niece, Aldora Sellars of Pennfield, four sisters in law; Sophy Conley of Hampton NB, Mabel Conley of St. Stephen NB, Muriel Conley of Saint John, and Fannie Conley of Burtts Corner NB, one brother in law, George Bostwick of Deer Island NB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Genevieve had worked for Connors Bros. for over 35 years as a hand labeller until her retirement. She was an avid Bingo player and loved music, knitting and reading, especially the Courier.

BARRY, Rev. ROBERT BURTON - Barry, Rev. Robert Burton – The death of The Reverend Robert Burton Barry of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Bessie Evelyn (Brooks) Barry, occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on August 4, 1919, he was a son of the late William Luther and Viola Pearl (Eldridge) Barry. Following completion of High School in Black’s Harbour and graduation from King’s College in Halifax, NS, he served as a clergyman with the Anglican Church of Canada, retiring from parish ministry in 1985 and continuing to serve as Provincial Chaplain for the Royal Canadian Legion. During WW II he served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 – 1945. He is survived by four sons, The Reverend Robert John Barry (Marguerite) of Miramichi, NB, Ian David Barry of DesMoins, Iowa, Paul Renison Barry of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Charles James Gibbs (Margaret) of Niagara Falls, ON; one daughter-in-law, Glenna Barry of Truro, NS; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (Barr) Barry; a son, Carl Alistair Barry; and three brothers, James, Milton and Carl.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. Visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at St. James Anglican Church, Loch Lomond Rd., with a Tribute to a Veteran Service at 7 pm. GENGE, Rev. Canon DAVID - Rev. Canon David Genge passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on August 12, 2009 in his 81st year. Born at St. John’s NFLD, he was educated at Bishop Field College, Dalhousie University, Memorial University from where he lectured in Physics for some time and finally studied at Bishops University where he received his masters in Theology. He attended classes for the priesthood at Queen’s College NFLD and served in parishes in Newfoundland, Quebec and New Brunswick. He also worked with the Canadian Bible Society in Newfoundland. In his younger years he enjoyed playing Soccer and is a member of the Newfoundland Tennis Hall of Fame. Since retirement he remained active, filling in at several vacant parishes and was an active member of the Kiwawis Club and the Elizabeth Fry Society. He leaves to mourn his wife Joan (Woolridge) Genge, son Peter (Ngaire) and grandson Michael, daughters Heather (David) Bertin and Joanne Genge, his three remaining brothers, Anthony, Bruce and Bishop Mark (Maxine) Genge, as well as a large circle of relations and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Nelson and by his grandson, David Edward Genge.
Following cremation there will be visiting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Saturday from 2-9 pm with a service to celebrate his life at Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Sunday at 4:30 pm followed by interment at the church cemetery. Following the interment, there will be a reception at the Pennfield Lions Club. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Floor 3BN at the SJRH as well as the many friends who volunteered to stay with David when needed. McKAY, EMMA JANICE - Peacefully at her residence at Pennfield NB on November 4, 2009, Mrs. Emma J. (Scullion) McKay, wife of the late Donald W. McKay. Born at French Village NB on June 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Gertrude (Langstroth) Scullion. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her son, John McKay of Pennfield NB and by her daughter, Lorna (Steven) Ball of French Village NB, two grandchildren; Stuart and Donald Ball both of Saint John NB, one sister, Ella White of Saint John NB, one sister in law, Betty Scullion of Moncton NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Don, she was predeceased by five sisters; Dorothy Dallon, Ruth Ladner, Mabel Long, Margaret Beyea and Mary Smith and by three brothers, Clifford, Ronald and George.
Prior to her retirement, Emma worked as a nurse at the Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB for a number of years. She was a member of the Christ Church (Anglican) at Pennfield NB and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch # 40 at St. George NB. She was a quiet person who loved spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

TRAVERS, HILDA CHARLOTTE - Hilda Charlotte Travers (nee Armstrong) died peacefully at Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB, on November 28, 2009, at the age of 95.
    Wife of the late Ray B. Travers, she was born in Pennfield, NB, on February 24, 1914.
    Hilda worked at the Gull and Herring Restaurant in New River and at Connors Bros. in Beaver Harbour. She was a member of Christ Church, Anglican Church in Pennfield and was renowned for her knitting, letter writing and cooking.
    She will be missed by her son, Ray C. Travers (Helen) of Douglas, NB; three grandchildren, Sandra (Charles) Howland of Mactaquac, NB, Leslie Travers of Grand Bay, NB, and Ray P. (Carol) Travers of Royal Road, NB; four great-grandchildren, David and Julia Howland, and Amanda and Charlotte. Travers; a sister, Dorothy (William) Hawkins of Nackawic, NB; and several nephews and nieces, including Susie Armstrong of St. George.
    In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Florence (Trynor) Armstrong; three sisters, Helen, Annie and Florence; and seven brothers, Lewis, Byron, Howard, Burton, Clifford, Earle and John.
    Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held at Christ Church, Anglican Church, Pennfield, NB, on Wednesday, December 2, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in Hilda’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. MCGARRIGLE, JOHN "CARROL" - Surrounded by his family, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on March 11, 2010, Mr. John “Carrol” McGarrigle, husband of Mrs. Marian (McGlinchey) McGarrigle of Pennfield NB. Born at Lake Utopia NB on October 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Lottie L. (Patterson) McGarrigle. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his loving wife, Marian, he is survived by children; Laura Lee (David) Carrier and Stephen McGarrigle both of Pennfield, Mark (Elizabeth) McGarrigle and Wendy Sue McGarrigle (Robbie Brideau) both of Fredericton NB, five grandchildren; Spencer, Hannah, Lily, Elias and Alexia, sisters; Chrystal Nickerson of Sherwoord PEI and Hazel (Val) Miles of Utopia NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to his retirement, Carrol was employed as a Clerk for CP Rail, Saint John NB, for 32 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who found Lake Utopia to be his favourite place on earth. He enjoyed boating and fishing with his many family and friends. He had a special passion for the outdoors, especially gardening, where he formed special bonds with people who proudly shared the gardens bounty. Carrol was an avid handyman and a jack of all trades who was known as a hard worker. He was a very active member of Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB, and carried out many functions in the church, such as Cemetery Committee, general maintenance and decorator. He was former Vice President of the Eastern Charlotte ATV Club, honorary lifetime member of the Eastern Charlotte Association for Community Living and former President and founder of the Eastern Charlotte Lions Club. Carrol loved his friends and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and all the ways he took joy in helping others every day, no matter what they needed. His greatest joy in life was having family gatherings and spending time with his cherished grandchildren.

PAUL, KENNETH LYLE "Ken" - Kenneth L. Paul, 86, of New Port Richey, FL and Beaver Harbour, N. B., Canada, died unexpectedly from complications of pneumonia on March 11, 2010 at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Ken was born on September 26, 1923 in Beaver Harbour and was the son of the late C. Allen and Vera A. (Justason) Paul.
    Ken served over three years for HMCS in the Canadian Navy during WWII. Upon discharge in 1945, he attended Saint John Vocation Technical School. After working in a machine shop for several years and then for Irving Pulp and Paper in Saint John, N.B., Ken began a long career for Cives Corporation out of their plants in Gouverneur, NY; Augusta, ME; Syracuse, NY; and Atlanta, GA. He began as a field foreman and worked all over the United States as the company expanded. Ken retired in 1984 as Vice President of Erection.
    Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucine (Dawson) Paul; daughter Valerie and her sons Nathan and Paul; daughter Heather and her sons Ryan and Dylan; and daughter Jennifer and her sons Kyle and Nick. Ken was predeceased by his brothers Clifford, Daryl, Weldon, Norman, and his sister Joyce.

PAUL, LUCINE "Lu" - Damariscotta, ME - Lucine D. Paul, 85, of New Port Richey, FL and Beaver Harbour, N.B. Canada, died on May 16, 2010, at Chase Point Assisted Living in Damariscotta, surrounded by her family. Lu was born on Nov. 24, 1924, in Clarence Ridge, N.B., the daughter of the late Edgar Dawson and Christine (Smith) Dawson. Lu served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps during World War II. Upon discharge, she worked in various jobs in Blacks Harbour, N.B. where she met and married her husband of 64 years, Kenneth L. Paul, who died on March 11, 2010. Lucine is survived by her daughter Valerie Paul and her sons, Nathan and Paul; daughter Heather Caldwell and her sons, Ryan and Dylan; and daughter Jennifer Paul and her sons Kyle and Nick. Lucine was predeceased by her sisters, Eudora, Villa, Inez, and her brother Lyndsay.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on May 30, at Christ Church-Anglican in Pennfield, New Brunswick, Canada. Friends are invited to gather after the service at Ken and Lu's family home in Beaver Harbour. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.

MILES, MARGARET - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on August 16, 2010, Mrs. Margaret (Wadman) Miles, wife of the late Mr. Enos Miles of Utopia NB. Born at Glace Bay NS on July 20, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Ann (Moore) Wadman. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by two sons; Enos & Brenda Miles of Saint John NB and Val & Hazel Miles of Utopia, one daughter, Lillian & Burton Hall of Utopia, her grandchildren; Jeff & Stella Miles, Brian & Donna McCullum, Ricky & Valerie Vinneau, John & Michelle O’Neil, Shauna & Justin Fudge, Andrew & Monica Broome, Jason Hall & Mellisa Frierson and Calvin & Carrie Hall, her great grandchildren; Crystal, Ryan, Brent, Jennifer, Craig, Trevor, Tara, Jeremy, Emily, Haley, Chloe, Matthew, Maddison, Michaela, Tamreeka, Maria, Salantra and Ronald, one great great grandchild, Cameron and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her loving husband, Enos, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Prior to her retirement, Margaret worked for Connor’s Bros. She kept very active after retirement and enjoyed cooking, knitting, bowling, Bingo, playing a hand of Cribbage and having conversations on the phone. She was a member of the OES Granite Chapter #15, St. George NB, Harbour View Seniors, Eastern Charlotte Association for Community Living and Christ Church (Anglican) where she served as a member of the choir for 20 years. Margaret loved her friends and family and espeically enjoyed her grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

DOUGAN, JEREMY KENNETH - Unexpectedly at Highway 1, Bethel NB on January 4, 2011, Mr. Jeremy Kenneth Dougan of Pennfield NB. Born at Saint John NB on December 17, 1991 he is the son of Peter Dougan and Diane (Blanchard) Dougan. A loving son, grandson and nephew, he is survived by his father, Peter Dougan of Pennfield NB, his mother, Diane Dougan (Brad Jennings) of Saint John NB, maternal grandmother, Rita (John) Blanchard of Blacks Harbour NB, special companion, Sandy Leland and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Armand Blanchard and his paternal grandparents, Larry and Mildred Dougan.
Jeremy was a recent graduate of Fundy High School, graduating with the Class of 2009. He was a current student, attending NBCC at St. Andrews NB. He was known as a computer enthusiast and when not busy with school he enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Born at St. George NB on December 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Mr. J. Allan and Mrs. Dorothy (Woodbury) McCullough. A loving brother and uncle, he is survived by one brother, Harold MacCullough of Dartmouth NS, one sister, June (Dawson) Winchester of St. Thomas ON, one niece, Dianne (Brian) Baker of Dartmouth NS, six nephews; Allan (Carolyn) MacCullough and Robert MacCullough (Josephine) both of Dartmouth NS, John (Janice) Winchester of Orillia ON, Jeffrey (Linda) Winchester of Waterloo ON, Jamie Winchester of Toronto ON and Joe (Jennifer) Winchester of St. Thomas ON and several cousins and friends.
    Prior to his retirement, Sherman was a self employed painter. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature. He was well known and liked by all, having a large circle of friends, young and old, Sherman was friends with them all. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

ARMSTRONG, LEOTA - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on May 22, 2011, Mrs. Leota (Noddin) Armstrong of Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB, wife of the late Mr. Robert G. Armstrong formerly of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Back Bay NB on February 8, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Vernard and Winnifred (Kavanaugh) Noddin. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one son, Brendan (Leona) Armstrong of Blacks Harbour NB, two daughters; Leora (George) Murchison of Grand Bay-Westfield NB and Mary Ellen Sabean of Sussex NB, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one sister, Norva Hatt of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Gordon Armstrong and by two brothers; Norval Noddin and Roy Noddin.
Prior to her retirement Leota worked for both Connor’s Bros. as a Packer as well as the Fundy Hospital where she worked as both a Cook and as the Switchboard Operator. She was an avid quilter and knitter who will be remembered for knitting stockings and mittens for many of the local area's children. She recently received recognition for her knitting which spanned the last 50 years and up until she reached the age of 95 she was still supplying mittens and stockings to Cottage Craft. Leota will also be remembered by her family and many thankful fisherman for her careful watch over them from her living room window in Deadmans Harbour.

A loving mother and grandmother she is survived by one daughter, Nancy Armstrong (Patrick Anderson) of St. Andrews NB, two sons; Dennis Armstrong (Linda Haywood) of St. George NB and Mark Armstrong (Jamie Reynolds) of Fredericton NB, three grandchildren; Clifford Armstrong, Lisa Armstrong and Georgina Armstrong and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by one son, Bruce Armstrong.

CHASE, ASHTON MACKENZIE - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on October 31, 2011, Miss Ashton Mackenzie Chase. Born at Saint John, NB on September 9, 1998, she was the beloved daughter of Eugene and Kelly (Justason) Chase. A loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, in addition to her loving parents, Gene and Kelly of St. George, NB, she is survived by one sister, Jazmin Chase of Moncton, NB, paternal grandparents, Gerald “Bumpy” and Nancy “Mammy” Chase of Saint John, NB, maternal grandparents, Sheldon “Pup” and Joan “Nan” Justason of Pennfield, NB, one aunt, Judy “JuJu” (Doug “Dug Dug”) Gaudett of St. George, NB, one uncle, Greg “Greggie” (Kathy) Chase of Saint John, NB and their companion Molly, cousins; Kate (Jay) McGrattan of St. George NB and their children, Frankie and Ariana, Kelsey Gaudett (Murray Tucker) of Pennfield, NB, one great great aunt, Murial Bennet of Blacks Harbour, NB and numerous friends and teachers.
Ashton was currently enrolled as a student at Fundy High School, St. George, NB. She was well known in the school and enjoyed keeping busy with the Mariners in Motion team, working to fight bullying. She had a passion for sports, especially volleyball and enjoyed cheering on her favourite football team, the Patriots. Ashton’s first love was spending time with her mom, and her second love was dancing. She enjoyed all forms of dance including Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop and was a member of Dancability of Saint John, NB. She had a great sense of humor and had the ability to bring light to anyone’s day. Ashton was a member of the Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield, NB, where she attended services will her loving family.

WRIGHT, PERRY "DALE" - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB, surrounded by family, the death of Perry “Dale” Wright, husband of Edith (Beal) Wright of Pennfield NB occurred on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Dale was born in Beaver Harbour on April 8th, 1938 to the late Marvin and Esther (Eldridge) Wright. In addition to his wife, Edith, he is survived by sons: Mark Wright (Allegra Badiali) of Beaver Harbour NB and Duane Wright (Tanya Russell) of Pennfield NB; daughters: Sheri Mahar (Mackie Banks) of Pennfield NB; Sally-Jo Ritchie (Eddie) of Pennfield NB; Heather Cooke (Brad) of St. George NB; grandchildren: Kyle and Kris Wright; Natasha and Samantha Mahar; Brian Ritchie; Sara-Jade and Gaige Russell-Richards and Griffin Cooke; one brother-in-law: Boyd Beal and several cousins. Dale was predeceased by his first wife Shirley (Bladwin) Wright.

Prior to his retirement, Dale was a self employed Painter. He was an avid hunter, gardener, local historian and was a member of the Beaver Harbour Archives. Dale’s passion in his later years was the Sunday afternoon Jam Sessions at the Stella Maris Hall in Blacks Harbour. His friendly smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Saturday at 2 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will take place at the Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in the spring. In Dale’s memory donations to the I.W.K. Children's Hospital, the St. George Food Bank or to the Stella Maris Sunday Jam Sessions would be appreciated by the family.

BARRY, VICKY MARLENE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on February 21, 2012, Ms. Vicky Marlene Barry of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on May 12, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Bessie (Smith) Barry. A loving mother, sister and aunt, she is survived by two sons; Shane Adams of Fredericton NB and Scott (Liudmila) Adams of Norway, three sisters; Wendy Burns of Fredericton NB, Randi Barry and Sammy (Ross) Thorne both of Beaver Harbour NB, three special nieces; Carrie Burns of Fredericton NB, Sara Burns of St. Andrews NB and April Throne of Fredericton NB and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Prior to moving to Beaver Harbour, Vicky was employed with Maritime Law Book in Fredericton for 30 years. In her leisure time, she loved walking the beach and hanging out with her beloved boys. She was an avid animal lover who could often be heard talking about her favourite kitty, Dottie. Vicky will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was a current member of the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield and a former member of the St. John’s Anglican Church, Fredericton.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Saturday at 11:00 am with Rev. Canon Keith Osborne officiating. The interment will take place at the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, the Charlotte County SPCA or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

JUSTASON, YVONNE "MAXINE" - At York Care Centre, Fredericton NB on December 16, 2014, Mrs. Maxine (Gaudet) Justason, wife of the late Burton Justason formerly of Pennfield, NB. Born at Saint John NB on May 10, 1940, she was a daughter of the late John and Pearl (Outhouse) Gaudet. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Maxine is survived by two daughters: Susan (David "Jed") Hill of Pennfield and their children, Joshua Hill (Heather Nantes) of Edmonton AB and Jonathon Hill of Pennfield: Shelley (Phillip) Munn of Fredericton and their children: Chelsea & Riley Munn also of Fredericton; one son: Ross (Karen) Anstis of Fredericton and their children: Daniel Anstis (Colleen Rooney) of Fredericton, Leah Anstis of Fredericton and Juli (Steve) Shipley of Rothesay NB; three great-grandchildren: Ryley Anstis, Aryauna Shipley and Colin Quinn Anstis; one sister, Evelyn (Stanley) Baldwin of St. George and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Maxine was predeceased by one sister: Roberta McGarrigle; and by one brother: Johnny Gaudet.

Prior to her retirement Maxine worked for Optil Canada in Oromocto NB, upon moving to Pennfield, she casually worked as a store clerk for David Comeau as well as Phil's Pennfield Convenience. She loved the outdoors and could often be found gardening and doing yard work. Maxine was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and loved to be in the company of her loved ones. She had a love of animals and enjoyed feeding the deer. In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling and doing arts and crafts.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-3 pm. A Graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:15 pm the Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery, Pennfield NB with Rev. Nelson Koonce officiating. In Maxine's memory, donations to the MS Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
