Obituary
John Powers, who has been helpless for many years from wounds received in the Civil War of the United States, and who drew the governments's highest pension for soldiers, died at his home in Connell street, on Thursday afternoon, aged 75 years. He is survived by the widow and seven children, three daughters, Mary and Lizzie at home and a married daughter in the States, four sons, Llewellyn and Douglas at home, one son in Ottawa and one in Vancouver.
The funeral took place from his late residence to St. Gertrude's church on Saturday morning, in charge of Francis Kelly, director for A C Day, and after a mass of requiem, interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. The following were pall bearers, Jas S McManus, I E Sheasgreen, Owen Kelly and Walter Cogger.
