Fenton Rice - The death of Fenton Rice occurred at the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home on March 3rd 2003. Born in Campobello, he was the son of the late Edward and Vivian (Newman) Rice. Predeceased by wife Muriel (Newman) Rice. Survived by one son, Winston (Carole) Rice of Wilson's Beach three granddaughters, seven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren. A grave side funeral will be held in the spring at the Wilson's Beach Cemetery with Rev. Todd Maguire officiating. For those who wish, donations to the Wilson's Beach Cemetery fund or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated. DONALD R. RICE JR. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - Bangor Daily News
BREWER and BANGOR Donald Reginald Rice Jr., 78,
passed away March 11, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born
Oct. 21, 1928, in Eastport, the son of Donald R. Sr. and Margaret
Pettigrew (Lyon) Rice. Don was a graduate of Shead Memorial High
School and Husson Business School. After serving his country in
the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Don worked for the Maine
Department of Labor, from which he retired after 33 years as
assistant chief of unemployment compensation. Don spent his
retirement years helping to care for his grandchildren. He was
very supportive of all their activities and always encouraged
them to do their best. Most of all, Grampie loved being with his
family and was especially proud of Donnie and Steven, when they
recently received the rank of Eagle Scout. He is survived by his
loving wife of 43 years, Mildred (Allingham) Rice of Brewer; a
son, Donald and Leslie R. Rice III of Plainfield, Conn.; a
daughter, Kathryn Rice of Brewer; a brother, Lenard Rice of
Calais; three sisters, Linda Rice and Katherine and David Baker
of Hudson, and Kimberly and Ernest Johnson of Eastport; four
grandchildren, Donald R. Rice IV and Steven E. Rice of Brewer,
Robin and Janelle Hanks of Dover, Del., and Brandon Leger of
Wichita Falls, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kayla
Hanks; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by three sisters, Marjorie Johnson, Marion
Robinson, and Beverly Rice; and a brother, Alfred Rice. Visiting
hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at
Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, and 6-8 p.m., Eastern
Standard Time, Friday, March 16, at St. Anne's Angelican Church,
Welshpool, Campobello Island. Funeral services will be held 2
p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Saturday, March 17, at St. Anne's
Angelican Church with the Rev. Charles Smart officiating.
Interment will be at St. Anne's Cemetery, Welshpool, Campobello
Island. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to
St. Anne's Cemetery Fund, 92 North Road, Campobello Island, New
Brunswick, Canada E5E 1C3 or a charity of one's choice.
