information came. Eliza died February 29, 1928
Mrs. Eliza Porter, widow of the late Judson Porter passed away at
the home of her step-son, J.E. Porter, Wilson's Beach on Thursday
morning last. She had been in failing health but her death was
unexpected. Her husband predeceased her about six months, since
which time she had been living with her step-son and family who
were most attentive in their care for her. She
leaves one brother, Isaac Barnes of Woodland, Me., and one
sister, Mrs. Hattie Howard of Portland, Me., also two step-sons,
John E. and Allen Porter, both of Wilson's Beach. The funeral was
held on Friday and was well attended. The
deceased lady was of a quiet and lovable disposition and much
respected in the community. All sympathy is extended to the
bereaved ones."

Muriel Frances (Alexander) Porter, 102, a resident of Campobello
Lodge, died unexpectedly January 19, 2003. She was born at
Welshpool, Campobello on July 16 1900. The daughter of John J.
and Louise (Reese) Alexander of Welshpool. Muriel was the last
surviving member of a family of 15 children.
She attended Teachers College, Fredericton and taught school at
Wilsons Beach prior to her marriage to Albert V. Porter in
1919.
After their marriage the couple moved to Massachusetts where they
raised their family. Their retirement years were spent at their
Welshpool home where they enjoyed their family and friends. A
devoted wife, mother and grand mother, muriel was an avid reader
and enjoyed playing the piano. She continued a life-long habit of
corresponding with her large family well into her nineties. Her
lively letters are treasured mementos of her long life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 1991 and
son-in-law, Donald E. Niles in 1984.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy L. Niles of West
Newbury, Mass., Winnifred Elaine (Alvin) Johanson of Lacey,
Washington and Beverly A. (Ivan) Corey of Calais, Maine and
Campobello; five grandchildren, Juith Niles, David Niles and
Ronald Johanson of Massachusetts, Carolyn Hart of Olympia,
Washington and Scott Corey of Dennysville, Maine; twelve great
grandchildren, Sarah VonLier, Caitlin Murphy, Suzanne DeSousa,
Bradley Johanson, Mary Elizabeth Upsom, Joshua Niles, Alexander
Niles, Jesse Hart, Joel Hart, Joslyn Corey, Ivan Corey and
Brianne Corey; two great great grandchildren, Shy VonLier and
Will DeSousa; several nieces and nephews.
Muriel was the recipient of wonderful care at Campobello Lodge
Nursing Home whose staff she dearly loved and who have been a
great solace to her family.
A Memorial service will be held at St. Annes Church Welshpool on February 1, 2003 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to Campobello Lodge or to a charity of their choice. MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen in care of arrangements.

CAMPOBELLO- Mildred Kathleen Porter passes away January 23, 1995, at the Charlotte County Hospital, after an illness of several months. She was born on Campobello, April 24, 1938, the daughter of John W. and Martha (Mallock) Hooper. Survivors include; her husband, Wheelock Porter; four daughters, Cindy LeBrake of Troy, N.H., Tammy Savage, Lorena Brown and Mildred Mitchell of Campobello; two sons, John of Campobello, and Frank of Lubec; one brother, Robert Hooper of Saint John; one aunt, Mrs. Loren Doughty of St. Stephen; three uncles, Theodore Mallock of Grand Manan, John and Royce Mallock of Campobello; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at the Wilson's Beach United Baptist Church, with Rev. Neville Denny officiating. Interment will be in Wilson's Beach Cemetery in the spring.

PORTER- At the Saint John Regional Hospital, March 6, 1993, Mrs. Jane Hilda Porter of Wilson's Beach, Campobello, N.B. Survived by her husband, Ellsworth John Porter; one daughter, Emillie Jane; mother, Bertha Moore; father, Camille Moore; one brother, Camille. Rested at the Saint Anne's Anglican Church, Welshpool, Campobello, N.B., from where the funeral service was held Tuesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clyde James Cox officiating. Interment at Saint Anne's Anglican Cemetary, Welshpool, Campobello, N.B.
