WATERVILLE -- James J. Pelotte, 95, of Waterville, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville.

He was born in Jackman on July 14, 1912, the son of Henry and Deleah (Veilleux) Pelotte.

J.J. Pelotte was a well respected Waterville businessman for more than 65 years. He owned and operated J.J. Pelotte Construction Company. He belonged to the Good Road Association for many years. J.J., along with his deceased wife, Alice, enjoyed spending three months each winter in Florida. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard and fishing off the pier with his friends and family. In the summer his vegetable garden was his favorite place to be after work. They also had a summer house on Campobello Island where they enjoyed visiting family members and friends.

Along with his parents and his wife, Alice Corey Pelotte, J.J. was predeceased by three brothers, Willie, Alphie and Rosaire Pelotte and a stepson, Glen Mitchell.

Surviving are his two stepdaughters, Lois Calder of Campobello Island and Lillian Fitzgerald of Connecticut; three sisters and a brother, Florence Salley of Skowhegan, Emma King of Rhode Island, Fanado Pelotte of Waterville and Evelyn Morrison of Waterville; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville.

Friends and family are invited to Complete Package function hall at 255 Trafton Road, Waterville, after the services.
