THURBER, DONALD CECIL The death of Donald Thurber of Lincoln, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 30th, 2002. Born in Campobello, NB, he was the son of the late Cecil and Madeline (Hampton) Thurber and husband of Eleanor (Lord) Thurber. Donald was the Industrial Arts Department Head at Oromocto High School and a long time member of the Oromocto Baptist Church. He enjoyed being on the ocean, especially on the Bay of Fundy, fishing, building boats and he had an avid interest in automobiles. Donald was a family oriented man and a faithful husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed and remembered in the hearts of all his family. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children, Gail (Neil), John, Elaine, Alice and Madeline (Jon); grandchildren, Tabitha, Andrew, Jason, Ashley and Noah; sisters, Olga, Betty, Ellen and Cessy and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Baptist Church on Friday, November 1st, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2002 at 11:00 am at the Oromocto Baptist Church. Rev. Norman Woodworth officiating. Interment will take place in the North Road Cemetery in Campobello, NB at 4:00 pm on Saturday. For those who wish, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Oromocto Baptist Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. THURBER: At Charlotte County Hospital, Dec. 16, Mrs. Jessie E. Thurber, in her 76th year. Remains rested at MacDonald's Funeral Home until December 18 when remains were taken to home in Welshpool, Campobello Island, from where sevice was held December 19. Interment in North Road Cemetary, Welshpool.

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, June 21, 1992, Morton Elias Thurber of North Road, Campobello Island, husband of the late Ida Mary (Savoie) Thurber; survived by two daughters; one son; two sisters; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Rested at the North Road Baptist Church, Campobello, from where the funeral services was held. Interment in North Road Baptist Cemetery.

The death of Edith Thurber of Welshpool New Brunswick, occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital on May 15, 2004.
Born in Campobello, New Brunswick on March 7, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Green) Newman. Predeceased by her husband, Basil Thurber; two brothers; two sisters.
Survived by two daughters, Vivian (Neil) Mc Kay of Fredericton New Brunswick, Janice (Raymond) Lank of Welshpool New Brunswick; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Resting at the North Road Baptist Church, Welshpool New Brunswick with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9. The funeral will be held 11am on Tuesday from the church, with Pastor John Tremblett and Rev. Wendell Calder officiating. Interment will take place in the North Road Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to North Road Baptist Church, or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.

THURBER- At the Saint John Regional Hospital, on May 28, 1989, Mr. Cecil E. Thurber of Welshpool, Campobello; survived by four daughters; one son; one sister. Resting at McDonald Funeral Home until Tues., when the body was taken to North Road Baptist Church from where the funeral service will be held Wed., May 31, at 2 p.m. Interment in the North Road Cemetary.

THURBER At the Ocean View Nursing Home, Lubec, Maine U.S.A., Ida M. Thurber of North Road, Campobello; survived by her husband, Morton Thurber, three daughters, one son, eleven grandchildren, four sisters, three brothers, nieces and nephews. The remains will be resting at the Wilsons Beach Pentecostal Church from where funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12 at 2 p.m.. Rev. Galbraith officiating. Interment to follow in the North Road Cemetery. Arrangements were made through MacDonalds Funeral Home, 20 Marks St., St. Stephen, N.B.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Thurber (better known on the island as Mamie) who passed away in the hospital on April 23rd, were held at the North Road Baptist Church on Sat. April 26th. Prayers at the home and services at the Church and cemetery were conducted by nephews of the deceased, Rev. Austen Calder, Moncton, NB, and Rev. Wendell Calder of Woodland Me. Pall bearers were Mr. Godfrey Mitchell, Mr. Clifford Calder, Mr. Clinton Calder, Mr. Edwin Chute, Mr. Raymond Lank, and Mr. Burton Lank.
Sympathy is extended to daughter, Mrs. Harold Vail and to sisters Miss Hattie Calder, Mrs. Evelyn Townsend and Mrs. Minnie Thompson and to brother, Mr. Colwell Calder and other members of the family.
Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Merton Boyd, Saint John; Mr and Mrs. Harold Vail and son, John, Greenwich Conn., Miss Masie Cox and Edward Cox, New Haven, Conn. Mr. Otis Anthony, Grand Manan. Mamie has been governess for the Coxes when there were younger and they came by chartered place to pay there respects to a loved friend.

Michael Allan Thurber of Sheffield, NB passed
away suddenly on April 5th, 2009 at the age of 43. He was the son
of Doreen Thurber and the late Wayne Thurber of Burton, NB. He is
survived by his partner, Karla and their two daughters, Abby and
Victoria as well as his eldest daughter, Michelle Poirier of
Fredericton; his mother, Doreen; two brothers, John (Shelley) and
their children, Kristen and Michael, Shawn (Charlotte) and their
children, Jenah, Leigha and Kayla as well as several aunts,
uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Wayne and
infant daughter, Hannah Marie.
Mike was born on November 5th, 1965 and grew up in the Oromocto and surrounding area. He was the owner of A1 Tree Removal. Mike enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, boating, car racing and most of all his 1968 Camaro. He also enjoyed taking trips to Campobello Island to visit family and friends. Mike was very generous and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, April 10th, 2009 from 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be at the Oromocto United Church on Saturday, April 11th, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bob McDowell officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
