Julian E. Mulholland, 90, died Dec. 21, 2003, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born July 17, 1913, in Lubec, the son of Charles and Mary (McCurdy) Mulholland. Julian attended Lubec High School, Class of 1930, and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lubec and a World War II Coast Guard veteran. He and his brother John owned and operated Mulhollands' Market in Lubec, until his retirement in 1963. He was a past member of the Lubec Board of Selectmen, a past member of the P. Gillis Council K of C No. 100 of Lubec, and a life member of the John F. Kennedy Post No. 6 Disabled American Veterans. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel P. (Findlay) Mulholland; and daughter, Pamela; his brothers, Harold and John. Surviving are Betty Jo Brine and her husband, Ed, of Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada, Harold C. Mulholland and his wife, Margot, of Baileyville, Bruce J. Mulholland and his wife, Paulette, of Cathance Lake Plt. No. 14; one sister, Elizabeth C. Mulholland of Lubec and Machias; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lubec with the Rev. Michael Sheridan, celebrant. Burial will be in the Olson Cemetery, Lubec. Donations in Julian's memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lubec, ME 04652. Funeral arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.

LUBEC - Elizabeth Catherine Mulholland, 86, died Jan. 30, 2004, at a Machias healthcare facility. Miss Mulholland was born July 15, 1917, in Lubec, the daughter of Charles and Mary (McCurdy) Mulholland. A graduate of Lubec High School, she received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Maine at Orono. She was a teacher at Dennysville High School and Orleans High School in Orleans, Mass. Until her retirement, she was the English teacher at Lubec High School, where she also served as guidance counselor interim principal. Miss Mulholland was a member of the Maine Teachers Association and the Maine Retired Teachers Association, Gamma Chapter of the Alpha Omicron Pi and the Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Lubec Historical Society, Lubec Women's Club and the Catholic Women's Council. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lubec. Miss Mulholland was predeceased by three brothers, Harold C., John A. and Julian Mulholland; a niece, Pam Mulholland; and a great-nephew, Todd Mulholland. Surviving are two nephews, Harold Mulholland and his wife, Margot, of Baileyville, and Bruce Mulholland and his wife, Paulette, of Cathance Lake; a niece, Betty-Jo Brine and her husband, Ed, of Campobello Island, New Brunswick; six great-nieces and four great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lubec, with the Rev. Mark Nolette celebrant. Burial will be in the Corey Cemetery, Lubec. Friends who wish may make donations in her memory to the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lubec. Arrangements by Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais.

ELIZABETH C. MULHOLLAND - LUBEC - Graveside committal services for Elizabeth C. Mulholland, who died Jan. 30, 2004, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Lubec, with the Rev. Michael Sheridan officiating. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home of Calais.
