LUCERNE-IN-MAINE - Gaye D. Moores 75, passed away Feb. 20, 2007, at her Lucerne home. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Lubec, the daughter of James and Louise Moores.

Gaye loved her home on Phillips Lake and especially the long peaceful boat rides around the lake. Her true love and passion was listening to classic country music, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Conway Twitty but she also had a great love for the old western movies that featured her all time favorite, John Wayne. Gaye was an inspiration to all that had the great privilege to know and love her. She had a beautiful spirit that was full of life. Gaye's strong nature and will set her apart from the rest and made her extremely endearing. She will be forever loved and missed by all.

Gaye is survived by her brother, James and his wife, Marie; her nephew, David Knight, and his wife and daughter, Ruthie and Ann Marie; her niece, Pat Hoffman; and her aunt, Geraldine Edwards, she loved them all very, very much. Gay is also survived and was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by her extended family Phillip Pierce, Rodney Dennis, Evelyn Dempsey, Corrine Sickles and their families. She loved the extended family she spent so many happy years with celebrating summer gatherings by the lake. Her legal guardian, Lisa Hussey, was truly her guardian angel, who loved her and always had Gaye's best interest at heart. Her dear friends included her roommates Terry, Roger, Alzena and her friends and teachers at the Ralph Leek Elders program who will find a void in their lives now that she has passed.

Gaye was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Ivan; her sister, Phyllis; and a very special roommate, Barbara. The family thanks Pat and her staff at New Hope Hospice for all of their support and help during our time of need. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with Dr. Deborah H. Carney, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Ralph Leek Elders, 68 Hillside Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. Messages of condolence or memories may be shared through www.hampdengilpatrick.com
