Josephine A. Mahar, 86 MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. -- Josephine A.
Mahar, 86, of Montour Falls, N.Y., formerly of Lubec, Gorham and
Scarborough, and
residences in Trumansburg, N.Y. and Montour Falls, N.Y. passed
away on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Seneca View Nursing
Facility, Montour
Falls, N.Y., after several years of declining health. Mrs. Mahar
was born in Wilson Beach, New Brunswick, Canada, and she was
married to
Richard L. Mahar, who services her. They would have celebrated
their 68th wedding anniversary on May 3, 2008.
Survivors are her husband, Richard; and their children, Marion Cox, Westfield, Mass., Doris and husband John Mitchell, Ovid, N.Y., Joan Mahar, Ithaca, N.Y., and Richard A. Mahar, Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Scott Cox and Shauna Cox, Southwick, Mass., Lori Mitchell, Ithaca, N.Y., granddaughter Kimberly (Roger) Walton; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Walton and great-grandson Garrett Walton, Perryville, Md., great-grandson Justin DeSanty, Southwick, Mass., great-grandsons Steven Roberts and Anthony Steven Roberts, Southwick, Mass.; two brothers, Myron Preston (Jennie) and Eugene Preston, all of Maine. Josephine was predeceased by two sons, Robert Lawrence, California and Robert Hollis, who died at five months.
Josephine had an indomitable spirit and a keen intelligence combined with a gentle manner, she was a person of faith. One thing very important to Josephine was her desire to leave a legacy and she has done that very well. Her standards and values will live on in her children and grandchildren; she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service for Josephine's friends and family will be
held at 2 p.m., June 14, 2008, at the Jehovah Witness Hall, 2590
Route 414, Montour Falls, N.Y. Donations may be made in her
