The following obituary was published in the St. Croix Courier, St. Stephen, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick Newspaper; August 21, 1913.
Wilsons Beach--Campobello Island: Mrs. Lyons, aged 95 years, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Judson Porter. Up to a short time ago she had been in full retention of all her faculties and was wonderfully bright and cheerful. Her home was formerly in Pembroke, ME. She leaves a large family. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. J. Perry.
Note: Lavinia Lyons was daughter of Charles SCOTT and Jane GRIERSON. Her first husband was Charles BARNES 1838 and they "raised the remarkable number of 20 children". In their late 70's, they moved from their lifelong home in St. George New Brunswick to Pembroke , Maine. Charles died in 1892. In 1894, Lavinia remarried to Civil War Veteran, Reuben LYONS. He died in 1902. Lavinia then lived with a son, Isaac BARNES and raised his orphaned daughter, Ida. No trace had been found of her for about 10 years when this death notice was finally found.
