MADDIE HUNTINGTON KENDUSKEAG - Our beloved Maddie went home to the Lord June 21, 2002. Maddie was born July 26, 1928, the daughter of Maggie (Tinker) and Roland V. Newman of Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Maddie and Herb were married Nov. 14, 1947. They built their first home in Eastport in 1950. In 1955, they moved to Milford and built a new home for their family in the late 1950s. In 1968, they built the County Road Store in Milford, and owned and operated it for 25 years. She was greatly admired and respected by all her loyal customers and friends, and widely known for her baked goods, her generosity and kindness, and her love for all children. After they retired, they spent their winters in South Carolina with their daughter, Elaine and family, and enjoyed summers at their camp in Maine. Recently they made their home with their daughter, Donna and her husband, Rob in Kenduskeag. Maddie was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren and was adored and loved by all of them. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Herbert B. Huntington. She is also survived by her children, Elaine and Michael Hoxie of Jackson, S.C., Ellen and her fiance, Bruce Crawford of Milford, Donna and Robert Thibodeau of Kenduskeag, Nancy of Mesquite, Texas, Herbert and Denise Huntington of Steuben, Linda and her boyfriend, David Andrade of Milford; her grandchildren, Melanie, Al and Anne, Danny, Kevin and Laurie, Christie and Josh, Robbie and Becky, Mark and Nikki, Craig, Meaghan, Rachel, Darci, Amber, Jesse, Christie; her great-grandchildren, Aimee, Desirae, Cameron, Brooke, Tyler, Jamie, Alec, Chase, Chely, Brooke, Tristan and Simon. Maddie is also survived by two brothers, William Newman and wife, Pansy of Campobello Island, New Brunswick and Edward Newman and wife, Arminta of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by her long-time friends, Ralph and Laura Corbett. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Dalton, Amos, Alan; and her sisters, Pauline, Marguerite and Edna. At Maddie's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
