PERRY and MACHIAS - Howard C. DeShon, husband of Muriel Flagg DeShon died Sept. 12, 2007, in Orono. He was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Machias, the son of the late H. Clifford DeShon and Kathleen (McFadden) DeShon.

Howard graduated from Machias High School, Class of 1937, as valedictorian. He continued his education at the University of Maine at Orono, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and at Northeastern University, Boston, receiving a Master of Science degree in math - physics. His first employment was with Westinghouse, Pittsburgh and Bloomfield, N.J. He later was employed by Raytheon in Massachusetts, General Instrument in Rhode Island and Taiwan, and Teledyne in Massachusetts, holding various engineering and supervisory positions with these companies. He retired from Teledyne in 1982. During retirement he served as a consultant for Teledyne for three years. Howard was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Physical Society. He was a member of the Old South Congregational Church, Boston; the Pequossette Lodge AF & AM, Watertown, Mass.; and later the Hardwood Lodge No. 91, Machias; and the University of Maine Alumni Association, Orono.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel Flagg DeShon of Perry; and one sister, Elizabeth DeShon Tibbetts of Brewer and Machias; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Dorrence B. Tibbetts.

A funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Cooper St., Machias, with the Pastor Betty Duzen of the Whitneyville Congregational Church, officiating. Friends may call noon until time of service. Interment will be at Longfellow Cemetery, Machias.

**Note: Muriel's maiden name was McLellan. She was born on Campobello. Her paents were Silas and Louise (Calder) McLellan. Howard's ancestors were from Campobello as well. Some family members still reside on the island.
