John DUNCAN - Campobello- April 29- Death removed another citizen of Campobello when on the morning of April 28th John Duncan of North Road passed to the great beyond. While his death was a shock it was little surprise as he had long endured a painful sickness. He was born at Magaguadavic, the son of the late Hiram and Rose Duncan. He was 62 years of age and had lived on Campobello for twenty years or more. He lived a quiet unassuming life always meeting the vagaries of fortune with the same contented smile. He is survived by his mother, now 82 years old, a son, John at Portland, Me.; a son, Burton, of the U.S. Navy somewhere in the Pacific, and a sister, Mrs. George Fulton, of Calais, Me. He was buried from his home on the afternoon of April 30th. Services both at home and the grave were conducted by Rev. R. T. Currie, pastor of the Island Baptist Churches. The church choir sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Abide With Me". Cecil Thurber conducted the funeral. The pall bearers were Colwell Calder, Elmer Mitchell, Horace Mitchell and Alexander Lank. Interment was in the North Road cemetery.
