BARKER, Evelyn A., 85 - LUBEC - Evelyn A. Barker, 85, died May 12, 2001, at Oceanview Nursing Home, Lubec. She was born in Lubec, Feb. 12, 1916, the daugh-ter of Vernon and Katherine Parker. During her childhood, she often spent time in the summers on Campobello Island with her family. She attended Lubec schools and later worked at McCurdy's Smoke House, Lubec. She was very active over the years and enjoyed boating and fishing on the ocean and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Stella Morey of Lubec, Ruth Matthews and her husband, Miner of Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada; one son, John E. Barker and his wife, Susan of Whiting; six grandchildren, Harold and Michael Morey, Amy and Jody Matthews, Justin and Brittany Barker; one great-grandson, Cade Lucas Walston; one half sister, Sandra Bradley of Whiting; one half brother, Donald Parker; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Parker, both of Lubec; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John M. Barker and her brother, William E. Parker. Private funeral services will be held in July at Olson Cemetery, Lubec. Memorial donations may be made to Regional Medical Center at Lubec, RR 2, Box 380, Lubec, ME 04652, or in her memory to a charity of one's choice.

CAMPOBELLO-Larry Winston Barker, 42,died unexpectedly on July 30,1986. He was born at Wilson’s Beach, Campobello. December 23, 1943, the son of the late Ernest and Mildred (Searles) Barker.

He spent his entire life on Campobello, was self-employed in the fishing industry and was also an avid hunter. His CB friends knew Larry as “POP- EYE”.

Survivors include his wife Nellie (Cline); three sons Larry Wayne, Danny, and David, all at home; one brother Harmie and one sister, Vera Newman, both of Wilson’s Beach.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with Rev. Francis Mabey officiating. Interment was in the new Head Harbour Community Cemetery

Maxine A. (Brown) Barker Submitted by Heather Waddingham Added 2009

LUBEC - Maxine A. Barker, 77, passed away Jan. 8, 2009, in Machias, after a long illness. She was born July 3, 1931, in Lubec, the daughter of Eugene and Martha (Farmer) Brown. She married Murray Barker, March 8, 1951. Maxine was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Stuart Green Post of Lubec, and held the seat of president for several years.

She was devoted to her family and loved gardening, cooking and baking. She was well known for her cake decorating skills. She enjoyed country music, dancing and having company over. During her lifetime, she had the pleasure of lunching with Patty Page, dining with Carl Yastremski, visiting with honorable Jeremy Harris, former mayor of Honolulu, and his wife, and lunching with her favorite NASCAR driver, Ricky Craven. Maxine and her husband, Murray, lived three years on the island of Adak, Alaska, while Murray was working there.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Murray Barker; three sons, Dale and his wife, Linda, of Maryland, Dana and his wife, Natalie, of Campobello, New Brunswick, and Gregory of Bangor; two sisters, Yvonne Bernhard and Doris Joy, both of Lubec; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three special nieces and three nephews; an aunt, Elaine; and an uncle, Royal. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Kevin; a sister, Hazel Woodruff; and a brother, Dallas Brown.

A graveside service will be held later in the year at Olson Cemetery, Lubec. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maxine's memory may be made to Stuart Green Post American Legion Auxiliary, Lubec. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
