LAST SAD RITES FOR MR. E.B. STAIR

Funeral services were held on Saturday March 26th, at 2:30 PM at the Methodist Church with Rev. Ray
Mc Clure of Williston, N.D., a former Pastor of the local Methodist Church, a close friend of the Stair
Family, and Rev. Ole Aarvold officiating.

A large concourse attended from Beach, Glendive and all parts of Wibaux County, and some from parts
of Fairview. Many lovely flowers were sent as a small token of love and esteem in which he was held.
A memoriam fund was also given in his memory which will be used at the discretion of his family.
Mrs. Wayne Bailey, Miss Beulah Keith, and Nr. Donald Anderson sang "It is well with my soul", "In
the Garden", and "Sunrise Tomorrow" accompanied by Mrs. M.D. Bushman.

Active pallbearers were Mr. Stanley Woods, Mr. Marvin Bushman, Mr. Howard Finkle, Mr. Ray
Scammon, Mr. Joe Zinsli, and Mr. Wayne Bailey.

Honorary Pall Bearers were Mr. W.L. Staggs, Mr. Clarence McCain Sr., Mr. Justin Cassidy, Mr.
Sievert Knudson, Mr. I.D. Rimel, and Mr. John Nelson.

Mr. Emory B. Stair was born Sept 9 1879 in Dungannon, VA. The son of Laura & Clifton Stair. When
a young man of 21 he moved to Winchester, KY, where he met and married his wife Dora Stair Sept 17
1901.

He moved with his family to Maxbase, ND in 1904. In the fall of 1907 he rode a bicycle from
Maxbase, ND to Montana and took up a homestead 7 miles north of Wibaux. He built a house during
the winter, with help from his neighbors, Mr. W.L. Staggs, and Mr. Clarence McClain, And moved his
family here the next year.

Mr. Stair was baptized and joined Methodist Church in Dungannon, VA when 17 years of age. He
helped build and organize the Wibaux Methodist Church, of which he was a charter member; and was
active up to the time of his recent illness. He served as Sunday School Sup't. and teacher for many years.
Mr. Stair took an active interest in civic and community affairs. He was County Commissioner of
Wibaux County for 18 years and was a Star Route mail carrier North of Wibaux for 20 years.

Due to ill health he retired from farming several years ago; and during the past year was hospitalized
several times with heart attacks, one from which he succumbed on Monday, March 21st, 1955, at 8:45
PM.

Besides his many friends, Mr. Stair leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Dora Stair, two daughters Mrs.
Ray Eisenbart, of Wibaux, and Mrs. Larry James of Billings, two sons T/Sgt. E Banner Stair, of
Anchorage, Alaska, and Stuart L. Stair of Salem, OR. Also 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Proceeding him in death were two sons Maror Calvert L. Stair, who was killed in the Korean War, and
an infant who passed away in North Dakota.

Internment occurred in the Wibaux Cemetery, Monday upon arrival of his son Banner from Alaska.
The Wibaux Pioneer-Gazette joins the large circle of friends in extending sincere sympathy to the
relatives in their bereavement.
