Myrtle Lee (Williams) McMahan
b: 19 Nov 1897 and d: 6 Jan 1918.
She was the first wife of William Herman McMahan (b: 15 Jul 1894 - d: 12 Nov 1964) and the mother of Eddie Mae McMahan (b:19 May 1917 - d: 22 Aug 1964 of cancer).
My Uncle Herman (brother of my grandfather David E. McMahon), always spelled the name with a "a" and my grandfather insisted it was spelled with an "o".  After all my research it appears that it is indeed spelled with a "o" - McMahon.  Most of the time anyway.  All are at Providence Cemetery, Maben.

David Edward McMahon (b: 1 Oct 1901 - d: 4 Dec 1977, Webster County, MS) and Lurena Merideth McMahon (b: 5 Jun 1906 - d: Mar 1999 Webster County, MS).  David E. worked on the Illinois Central Rail Road his entire adult life.  Because of his job they lived all around the state of Mississippi.  When my grandfather retired they lived right on Rt. 15.  Just a few miles from Providence Cemetery where they are buried.  He was big on sports and we (the grandkids) went with him to all the high school and college basket ball games.  Also, he loved to hunt, raised hunting dogs and loved to sit out with his friends at night and see if they could guess who's dog was doing the baying.  After my grandfather died my brother (James David) went to live with Lurena and go to college in Starkville, he lived there for over 6 years.  My grandmother was very close to her family and she helped take care of her mother and her sister Odean (Odean got polio around 2 yrs old).  We all loved Rena's fried pies and blackberry cobbler's and she plucked, skinned and cooked every dead thing (wild game) my grandfather bought home.  Until the day came when she said "no more" and then he stopped bring dead things home and if he did --  it was already plucked and/or skinned.  He taught my brother about guns and hunting and she taught me about good cooking and endurance.

This is a picture of the Merideth "boys".  It was taken at a family reunion when they returned to Mississippi from Texas.  For some reason all but my great grandfather, James Ellison "Jim" (3rd from left) moved to Texas.  The only other one I am sure of is Jesse Monroe "Bud" (2nd from left).  One of the other ones may be C.M. White a brother-in-law.

Joseph Edward McMahon (b: 1874 in Webster County, MS - d: Jun 1901 in Webster County, MS).  Joe Ed married Ada Lou Yeats (b: 6 Aug 1873 - d: 6 Mar 1957).  He was the son of William and father of:  William Herman, Walter Clifton, Evelene (Gilmore), Ola Lee (Davenport) and David Edward.  He was my great grandfather.  Both Joseph and Ada Lou are at the Providence Cemetery of Maben, MS.
