CATLET MURRAH

 

 

 

Catlet Murrah was born abt. 1812 in Lincoln Co., Georgia, the son of Charles & Mary Murrah. Catlet married Sarah Hair May 3, 1833 in Coosa Co., Alabama. Sarah was born abt. 1816 in Abbeville Co., South Carolina, she died aft. 1870 in Choctaw Co., Miss.! Catlet died abt. 1875 in Eupora, Choctaw Co., Miss. Catlet & Sarah “Hair” Murrah were buried at the Rasberry Cemetery, abt. 4 mile’s west of Walthall, Miss. They had six known children ;

Catherine Murrah was born Oct. 7, 1835 in Coosa Co., Alabama, she died Aug. 3, 1890 in Walthall, Miss. She married John G. Hays abt. 1865. John G. & Catherine “Murrah” Hays were buried at the Hays Cemetery, at Walthall, Ms. Louisa Murrah was born abt. 1841, and died Aug. 1879 in Choctaw Co., Ms. John M. Murrah was born Aug. 4, 1847 in Pickens Co., Alabama, he died Sept. 29, 1932 in Eupora, Ms. He married Jennette Tryphenia Hardy, and Mollie Carter, and had 5 known children. Josephine Murrah was born Oct. 22, 1848 in Pickens Co., Alabama, and died Nov. 30, 1932 in Webster Co., Ms. Josephine married William M. “Bill” Lewis Jan. 14, 1882 in Webster Co., Ms. They had two children. Josephine was buried at Montevista Baptist Church Cemetery, Webster Co., Ms. William M. Bill Lewis was buried at Old Field Cemetery, 4 miles east of Walthall, Ms. Frances Elizabeth Murrah was born July 24, 1851 in Choctaw Co., Ms. And died Oct. 14, 1897 in Webster Co., Ms. She married Jacob Miller Holland Feb. 7, 1888 in Webster Co., Ms. Frances Elizabeth Holland was buried at the Hays Cemetery. Jacob M. Holland was born Dec. 9, 1828, died Nov. 26, 1903 in Webster Co., Ms. He was buried at Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cumberland, Ms. Margaret E. Murrah was born Apr. 18, 1855 in Choctaw Co., Ms., and died Dec. 2, 1926 in Cumberland, Ms. She married Andrew Egger Kolb Nov. 7, 1888 in Webster Co., Ms. Andrew Egger Kolb was born Feb. 20, 1833 in Lowndes Co., Ms., and died Nov. 6, 1920 in Webster Co., Ms. Andrew & Margaret were buried at Old Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland, Ms. They had nine children. Many of Catlet & Sarah “Hair” Murrah descendant’s still live in Webster Co., Ms., and around that area. Catlett Murrah lived at Eupora, Ms. For several year’s, and later he moved his family to Walthall, Webster Co., Ms.! He was a member of the Walthall Baptist Church, in Walthall, Ms. His house was near the Rasberry Cemetery, west of Walthall. Several of Catlett & Sarah’s descendant’s were the Hays, Lewis, Kolb, and Holland’s! Catlett was the fourth child of 11 sibling’s. His sibling’s were ; Elizabeth, Margaret, Nancy, George Washington, Joseph, John, Charles Jr., Frank, Silas K., and Francis C. Murrah. Silas married Elizabeth Connaway, and had nine children. He settled in Choctaw Co., Ms., and was buried at Bluff Springs Cemetery, Choctaw Co., Ms.!
