Pike County War of 1812 Unit

Men from Pike and Marion counties served in the 13th Regiment Mississippi Militia, under Col. Nixon. The unit is often referred to as "Nixon's Regiment". A brief history of the unit and the battles in which it fought can be found in Military History of Mississippi 1803-1898 by Dunbar Rowland (Spartanburg, South Carolina, The Reprint Company, 1988.) on pages 6-8.
