EDITH LAURA ODOM VOJTSEK

Edith Laura Odom Vojtsek, 78, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at the Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Burnsville and lived in Bells, Texas before moving to Granbury, Texas three years ago.

Services were at 4 p.m. Friday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in luka with Bro. Stanley Magill officiating. Burial was in Holder Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Bacon of Granbury, Texas, Don Bacon and Jack Bacon, both of Arlington, Texas, and Mike Vojtsek of Bells, Texas; a daughter, Bonnie Goins of Torrance, Calif.; two sisters, Alma Hubbard of Iuka and Geraldine Mars of Burnsville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Odom, and 10 sisters.

Pallbearers were her nephews.

 

 

EILEEN VOSS

CORINTH - Eileen B. Voss, 83, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Aug. 15, 1919, to the late Rhinehart and Valeta Tech. She was a member of the Kendrick Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and knitting quilts. She was the widow of Robert G. Voss.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the National Cemetery with the Rev. Rodney Whittemore officiating. McPeters Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, David Voss of Corinth; a granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Voss; a sister, Dorothy Pieske of Elbian, Mich.; a niece, Sarah Vanderford of Corinth; a nephew, Oliver DeLonge of Corinth.

Visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

BOLLIE VOYLES

CORINTH - Clarence "Bollie" Voyles, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Alcorn County Supervisors. He was an avid coon hunter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Directors Chapel with Lane Voyles officiating. Burial will be in Brigman Hill Church Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Voyles and wife, Shirley, and Lane Voyles and wife, Susie, all of Corinth; two sisters, Lillian Barnes and Lola Mae Shults, both of Corinth; grandchildren, Brandon Heath Voyles, Hannah Voyles, Shannon Voyles, Angie Maldonado and husband, Ray, and Sandy Campbell; great-grandchildren, Torey Studdard, Tanner Studdard, Abigail Voyles, Chaney Voyles, Britany Kinsey, Ashley Kinsey and Bethany Campbell; stepgrandchildren, Robby Eaton and Kim Culwell and Reggie Eaton; four stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Voyles; his parents, Rufus Voyles and Josie Brown Voyles; and a brother, Hubert Voyles.

Pallbearers will be Howard Gray, Heath Voyles, Bill Parker, John Grimes, Charles Terry Vanderford and Bobby Fowler.


BROOKLYNN VOYLES

Michie, Tenn. – Brooklynn Bingham Voyles, 24, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Services will be on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 till 8 p.m. at Booneville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel.

 

GEORGIA VOYLES

RIENZI - Georgia Burcham Voyles, 98, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at her home. A native and lifelong resident of Alcorn County, she was born Aug. 24, 1904, to the late Levi and Mead Harville Burcham. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church for 82 years. She enjoyed gospel music, and loved her grandchildren and her many friends.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Richardson and Bro. Travis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Billy Joe and Willie Mae Voyles of Rienzi, Donald and Lila Voyles of Corinth, Willie Ray and Louise Voyles of Glen, and Bobby Voyles of Glen; two daughters and their husbands, Dimple and Harley Bates of Rienzi, and Ila V. and O. E. Farris of Corinth; a brother, Ed Burcham of Paden; a sister, Louise Wilkins of Cairo; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Voyles; five sons, Leland Voyles, Lee Roy Voyles, Orville Ray Voyles, Charles Voyles and Leon Voyles; six sisters, Ruby Carpenter, Onnie Duncan, Minnie and Lola Bain, Gethie Rowsey, and Nora Richardson; and five brothers, Boss, Roy, Willard, Cecil and Lee Burcham.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chad Taylor, Danny and David Jackson, Leroy Voyles Jr., Jerry Voyles and Donald Dale Voyles.

Her other grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

HERSCHELL VOYLES

CORINTH - Herschell E. Voyles, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born March 12, 1922, in Alcorn County to Allen and Dora Griffin Voyles. He attended Farmington Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Intex Plastics, and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Corinthian Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Nall officiating. Burial will be in Farmington Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a brother, Edward Voyles of Corinth; a nephew, Terry Wall and wife, Ruth, of Broussard, La.; two nieces, Fay Franks and husband, Freddie, and Carolyn Duhon and husband, Dale, all of Lafayette, La.; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Neomi Wall.

Pallbearers will be Elbert Holland, Terry Wall, Kenneth Odle, Arnold Pittman, Vancey Knighton and Carroll Mills.

SAVANNAH, Tenn. - Inez Ford Voyles, 76, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at the Savannah Health Care.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Ludlam Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Jersulem Cemetery in Corinth.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Hubbard of Iuka and Charles Hubbard of Fairfield, Ill.; two brothers, James McKinley Crider of Corinth and Donald Crider of Fairmont, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Anthony Hubbard, Steve Hubbard, Jerry Hubbard, Marvin Hubbard, Sam Hubbard, Polly Hubbard and Amanda Hubbard; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Voyles; one brother, Clifford Crider; and her parents, George and Mamie Hubbard.

 

BEATRICE VOYLES

BALDWYN - Myrtle Beatrice "Mawbee" Voyles, 88, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Parker's Chapel.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Adams, Bro. Loyd Stephens and Bro. Thomas Langley officiating. Burial will be in Kirkville Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Q.T. Voyles and wife, Trudy, Imogene Scott and husband, Roy, Bernis Voyles and wife, Judy, and Coy Voyles and wife, Sandra, all of Baldwyn, and Rickey Voyles and wife, Lynn, of Wheeler; grandchildren, Mike Scott, Ken Scott, Barbara Green, Rhonda Bradsher, Shelia James, Anthony Voyles, Lisa Lindsey, Rodney Voyles and Donna Hood; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearlie Parker and Eddie Lou Grissom, both of Baldwyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Almus Voyles, in 1992; a brother, Travis Johnson; three sisters, Lela Holland, Nila Wigginton and Eunice Hopkins; and a granddaughter, Virginia Mae Scott.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Anthony Voyles, Rodney Voyles, Ken Scott, Mike Scott, Donald Wayne Robinson and Tommy Bradsher.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, her nephews and Richard Woodruff.

BURNSVILLE – Clesup Wayne “Tater” Voyles, 29, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at his home. He was employed at Voyles Auto Supply & Used Cars. He enjoyed horses, hunting and spending time with his children.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Voyles’ residence, Spring Valley Ranch, at County Road 369, with Bro. Tim Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Voyles of Burnsville; his father, Wayne Voyles of Burnsville; his mother, Jean Voyles of Corinth; his grandmother, Mildred Killough of Rienzi; two daughters, Elizabeth Star Voyles and Ocean Jane Dobbs of Corinth; four stepchildren, Melissa Thornton, Shawn Jamieson, Scott Jamieson and Thomas Jamieson, all of the home; a brother, Johnny Wayne Voyles and wife, Michelle, of Corinth; a sister, Teresa Voyles Sloan and husband, Tim, of Corinth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tolbert Eugene and MayBell Voyles, and Clyde Ruban Killough.

Pallbearers will be Tristan Sloan, Lane Burcham, Eric Cooper, Bear Meredith, Ricky Ray Voyles and Buddy Letson.

ETTA VUNCANNON

SUFFOLK, Va. - Etta Mae Vuncannon, 87, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Bon-Secours Maryview Nursing Home in Suffolk, Va.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Bro. Ted Avant officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Billy Vuncannon and wife, Laura, of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Sue O'Neal of Portsmouth, Va.; two brothers, J. C. Wammack and wife, Betty, and John Wammack, all of Corinth; a sister, Louise Lloyd of St. Louis, Mo.; one granddaughter, Beverly Mills and husband, Brandon, of San Antonio; a great-grandson, Cody Mills; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R. D. and Margaret Jones Wammack, and her husband, Russell Vuncannon.

Pallbearers will be Phil Wammack, Ted Wammack, Don Wammack, Doug Wammack, James Lloyd and Bruce Loyd.

Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. today.

 

KENNETH VUNCANNON

CAIRO - Kenneth M. Vuncannon, 66, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic before becoming disabled. He attended Snowdown Church of Christ. He was a member of First Responders, Cairo Volunteer Fire Department, Prentiss County Rescue Squad and the Prentiss County Fire Association.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Snowdown Church of Christ with Minister Steve Hodgin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Church of God Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Alma F. Vuncannon; his mother, Eunice Vuncannon of Corona, Ala.; a daughter, Kathleen V. Pounds and husband, Eric, of Booneville; two sons, John David Vuncannon, and Kenneth Joe Vuncannon and wife, Sara, all of Booneville; two sisters, Linda Chaffin and husband, Benny, of Booneville, and Sara Sanders of Corona, Ala.; three brothers, Larry Vuncannon and wife, Marie, of Iuka, Wayne Vuncannon and wife, Edith, of Baldwyn, and Ray Vuncannon and wife, Lynn, of the Pisgah community; four grandsons, two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Vuncannon.

Visitation will continue until 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.

 

LISA JOHNSON VUNCANNON

A one vehicle accident on County Road 49 in Colbert County, AL, claimed the life of Lisa Johnson Vuncannon on Saturday, Dec. 14. She appar­ently hit a culvert after leaving the road in the early morning accident.

Lisa Johnson Vuncannon of Russellville, AL, was born in Slidell, LA, on December 13, 1966; she was reared in Iuka and Tishomingo County, MS. She was 36 years old and was a member of Charity Chapel Church on the Mountain in Russellville. She was a teacher at Charity Chapel Christian Academy where her three sons attended school. Lisa was known for her big wide smile and her witty sense of humor. Everyone who knew her loved her.

Lisa is survived by her hus­band Kenneth J. (Jody) Vun­cannon and her three sons­, Nathan, Cody, and Issac Vun­cannon. She is also survived by her mother and step dad, Betty and Russel Frost of Burnsville; her father and step mom, John A. Lee and Suzie Johnson of Iuka; her grandmother, Bernice Nunley of Iuka; five sisters-Mary Os­born and Jennifer Mooney of Burnsville, Rebecca Curry and Jessica Clingan of Iuka, and Melvana Border of Cherokee; Her brothers-in-law-Mitchell Osborn, Lee Mooney, Tim Curry, Josh Clingan, and Joe Borden; three brothers Randy Aday, Andy Aday, and Terry Lee Aday, all of Iuka; her sisters-in-law Peggy Aday, Tracy Aday, and Regina Aday; her nieces-Kalenna Osborn and Makayla Johnson; her nephews Lesle Osborn, Joshua Osborn, Charles Busby, Dustin Mooney; her father-in­law and mother-in-law Kenneth Joe and Alma Fae Vun­cannon of Burton; and a special friend, Alexis Miller.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, at Charity Chapel Church on the Mountain in Russellville, AL. Burial took place at Christ Gospel Church in Jacinto, MS.

Pallbearers were Tini Curry, Mitchell Osborn, Lee Moody, Jerome Lewis, Johnny Franklin, Keith Lindsey, Lester Osborn, and Josh Clingan.
