Violet Lorraine Harmon Poag, 79, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, after a long illness.

Services were Thursday. May 2, at 2 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Poag was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed gardening and her many flowers.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Arnold and her husband, Bob Sr., of Baldwyn, Gloria McKay and her husband, John, of Sunman, Ind., and Cindy Gerhke and her husband, Melvin, of Grove, Okla.; three sons, Lewis Poag and his wife, Carolyn, of Jonesborough, Tenn., John Poag and his wife, Diane, of Moorehead, N. C., and James Poag of Corbett, Ore.; two sisters, Ula Little of Macon and Willie Butler of Happy, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Poag Sr.; a son, Eugene Poag Jr.; her parents, Newt and Mary Etta Harmon; three brothers; and a sister.

ADAM POLLARD

BOONEVILLE - Christopher Adam Pollard, 15, died Friday, May 7, 2004, in automobile accident in Booneville. Jamie Weatherbee also died in the accident. Adam was born Aug. 25, 1988, in Tupelo. He was a sophomore at Thrasher High School. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Booneville, where he was a 2nd years seminary student, a member of the Teacher's Quorum and former Deacon's Quorum President. He was a Boy Scot, only one project away from becoming an Eagle Scout. He played quarterback on the Thrasher Junior High School football team. He enjoyed water sports, horses, 4-wheelers, hunting, fishing, auto racing, collecting knives and the Smoky Mountains.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Booneville with Bishop John Larsen conducting and Danny Stites, Mike Eriksen and Thermon Saylors officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include His father and stepmother, David and Marsha Pollard of Booneville; his mother and stepfather, Kathy and David Holder of Booneville; two sisters, April Underwood and her husband, Jeremy, of Baldwyn, and Katrina Pollard of Booneville; three brothers, Aaron Pollard, Austin Holder and Waylon Pollard, all of Booneville; a stepbrother, John Tull of Booneville; his grandmother, Mary Pollard of Booneville; a nephew Brody Underwood of Baldwyn; two nieces, Lexi and Brailey Underwood.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, QD Pollard and Harding Burcham; his grandmother, Jettie Smith; one uncle Eddie Burcham; and one aunt, Patsy Burcham.

Pallbearers will be Tim Floyd, Johnny Floyd, Matthew Lee, Matthew Burcham, Bradley Huddleston and Roman Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Pollard, Austin Holder, Waylon Pollard, John Tull and Brody Underwood.

Dwayne Pollard, 73, of Booneville passed away on June 24, 2018. Services were held on June 27. Burial followed at Tuscumbia Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - Letha Luvene Pollard, 83, died Tuesday at her residence. She was the widow of M. B. Pollard, a housewife and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Booneville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Luther Gibson and the Rev. Curtis Alligood officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Q. D. POLLARD

BOONEVILLE - Q. D. Pollard, 71, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born April 22, 1929, in Alcorn County to Marcus and Lathe Carpenter Pollard He was n U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War He was a retired sheet metal worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers' Local No 4 of Memphis. He taught sheet metal apprenticeship classes at the Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant during the construction of that facility. He was a High Priest Group leader, a Stake High Counselor and a former member of the Bishopric of the Booneville Ward of the Tupelo Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He was a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts. He was secretary treasurer of the New Candler Water Association. He served as a Justice Court judge in Prentiss County from 1976 until 1980 He was a master storyteller, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with President Harry T. Brown, Bishop John T. Larsen and Patriarch J. C. Morris officiating, and Bobby Smith and John Ray Pollard assisting. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery, with grave dedication by David Pollard.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years. Mary Deane Smith Pollard, whom he married Aug 23, 1953, six children, Rebecca Deane Piersky and her husband, Randy, Quentin David Pollard and his wife. GEARLDENE POOLE

BELMONT - Gearldene Poole, 70, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at her home. She was a native of Alabama. She was a factory worker for 30 years and a member of Dennis United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Ronnie Goodwin and Bro. Steve DeVore officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery in Tishomingo.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Poole and wife, Debra, of Albertville, Ala., and Mark Poole and wife, Melody, of Dennis; five grandchildren, Donnie Poole, Missy Williams, Laken Poole, Skyler Poole and Lawson Poole; five great-grandchildren, Dustin Poole, Madison Poole, Brett Williams, Trey Williams and Colin Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ray Poole; her parents, Clyde and Lawrence Gray; a sister, Johnny Hopkins; and two brothers, Ray Gray and Jack Gray.

MR. WALLACE POOLE

James Wallace Poole, 76, died Friday, February 7, 1997, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a sudden illness. He was a retired businessman and banker. He worked in banking for 23 years. He was president of the Bank of Mississippi in Booneville, and he was affiliated with Union Planters Bank of Memphis. He was past owner of the Western Auto Store in Corinth. Before retiring, he was a federal crop insurance agent. He was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Doug Greenway and Minister J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Gardens.

GUNTOWN - Offie P. Pope, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a homemaker and Baptist.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pete McCoy and Bro. Roger Franks officiating. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Earline Holley of Booneville; one son, Billy Pope of Kenosha, Wisc.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Pope; and her son, James Pope.

CHARLES PORTER

IUKA - Charles Henry Porter, 75, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Before retiring, he was a heavy machinery mechanic. He also held public auctions in Paden. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A memorial service will be held by his family after his cremation. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include wife, Patsy Porter of Iuka; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

CORINTH - Thomas Ervin Porter, 55, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home. He was a graduate of Easom High School, where he was a bus driver. He was a self-employed mechanic, a Mason and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed picking his guitar and fixing cars, and he loved his family.

Services will be at noon Friday at St. Luke M.B. Church with the Rev. Fredrick Patterson officiating. Burial will be in St. Rest Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Services of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley T. Linda Earnestine Posey, 53, of Fulton, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a long illness. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 26. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery in Itawamba County.

Local survivors include her mother-in-law, Alice Buse, of Baldwyn.

Windham Boyd Randolph, 50, of Baldwyn, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 29. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Community Church Cemetery.

GLADYS WIGGINTON POST

Services Held For Mrs. Gladys Post

Gladys Wigginton Post 89, died Sunday, June 4, 1995, at the Magnolia Hospital in Corinth. She was a member of the Old Bethel Methodist Church.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Monday at the Old Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Donnie Riley officiating. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, James Wigginton of Huntsville, Ala., and Kenneth Wigginton of Tishomingo.

WALTER EARL POTTER

Walter "Earl" Potter, 85, formerly of Greenwood, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Magnolia Place assisted care home in New Albany. He moved to Booneville eight ears ago to be close to his daughter.

Graveside services were Wednesday Fellows Church in Grenada, where he was buried near his step-son, John Randall "Randy" Carlton. National Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Potter was owner of Potter's Garage in Greenwood for over 40 years which serviced the school buses and trucks by contract for Leflore County for many years. He was very proud of the daughter he had very late in his life. He was a decorated Army tank-driver in World War H, who was involved in the D Day invasion at Normandy. He was one of five brothers who served in World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Amy Potter Logan; a granddaughter, Brooke Chandler Logan; a stepdaughter, Belinda Kaye Long; a sister, Annie Laura Watson of Teoc, Miss.; and a brother, Bunt Potter of Pensacola, Fla.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Harrel Potter and Ricky Potter along with Jason Walker, Chris Walker, Roy Logan and John Logan.

R. L. POTTS

R. L. Potts, 88, of Powder Springs, Ga., died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Tranquility Hospice House. He was a native of Booneville.

Services were Thursday, July 27, at 3 p.m. at McEachern United Methodist Church. West Cobb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Potts was a partner in S. H. Hudson Contracting Company when it was sold to C. W. Matthews Contracting Company. He began working on road crews in Booneville R L. Potts and later worked in Georgia, working his way up from operator to foreman to supervisor with several companies, including E. A. Hudson and Sons.

In the 1940s he helped build U. S. 41 through Marietta, Ga., one of the first four-lane highways in Atlanta. He was also in real estate, developing or owning land that was developed into several smaller subdivisions around Smyma, Leland Road in Cobb County was named after him.

He was a founder and member of the board of Smyrna Bank and Trust, which was sold to Regions Bank. He had served on the Cobb County Recreation Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Potts of Marietta, Ga.; two sons, Bob Potts of Marietta, Ga., and Gary Potts of Jasper, Ala.; a sister, Mildred Martin of Booneville; two brothers, Billy Potts and Vance Potts, both of Booneville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

BILLY POTTS

BOONEVILLE - William Milford "Billy" Potts, 86, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at his home following a long illness. He was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Prentiss County, the son of Leonard Victor Potts and Alma Lou Moore Potts. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, He served as a driver during the war hauling ammunition, and supplies to the front lines and transporting POW's to the prison camps. He farmed for many years, then worked as a bus driver for Jumpertown School, and was the manager of the game room at Northeast Mississippi Community College until his retirement in 1986. He was a loyal supporter of the college. He was a member of the Carolina United Methodist Church, where he held several offices and was the recipient of many awards over the years. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Minnix officiating. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nora Elminia Young Potts; a daughter, Kathy Green and her husband, Gerry, of Booneville; a son, W. L. Potts of Booneville; a twin sister, Mildred Martin of Booneville; a brother, Vance Potts of Booneville; three grandchildren, Kimberly Potts of Mobile, Ala., Bo Green and Paige Green, both of Booneville; a sister-in-law, Hattie Downs of Booneville and a brother-in-law, Buster Young o Booneville.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Potts.

Pallbearers will be Doc Gullett, Bill White, David West, Terry Martin, Roy Koon and Jimmy Barron.

BELMONT - Jessie Charlene Pounders, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at the Red Bay Hospital. She was a native of Mississippi. She was retired from C & H Manufacturing Co. after 20 years and a member of Belmont First Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Belmont First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Maroon and the Rev. Doyle Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements.

Opal Franks Pounders, 77, of New Site, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo after an extended illness. She was a housewife.

BELMONT - Susie Williams Pounders, 89, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the Red Bay (Ala.) Hospital. She was a factory worker for 26 years.

DENNIS - Talmadge "T.C." Pounders, 83, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at his home. He was a native of Mississippi. He retired as a dairy farmer after 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Belmont VFW.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with the Rev. Steve Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Avoe Pounders of Dennis; two sons, Jimmy Pounders of Dennis and Thomas Pounders of Tishomingo; a brother, Ray Pounders of Redford, Mich.; two grandchildren, Gregory Pounders of Cairo and Melissa Pounders of Starkville; three great-grandchildren, Luke Pounders and Candice Harber, both of Tishomingo, and Justin Pounders of Cairo.

KIRKVILLE - Betty Pounds, 75, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the North Miss. Medical Center after an extended illness. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Kirkville Baptist Church.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel in Baldwyn with Bro. Jim Irvin officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Roberts and her husband, Terry, of the Pratt community, Judy Barnes of the Kirkville community, and Christie Beasley and her husband, Brian, of the Ozark community; three sons, Larry Pounds and Eddie Pounds, both of the Kirkville community, and Scottie Pounds and his wife, Christie, of the Casey Creek community; three sisters, Jo Maxey and her husband, Jim, and Bea Holland and her husband, Lamond all of Baldwyn, and Bessie Lee Spencer of Marietta; five grandchildren, Michael Roberts, Jamie Roberts, Tracy Barnes, Amber Barnes and Brett Pounds; one step-grandson, Mitch Wilson; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madelyn Beasley, Mason Roberts, Collin Roberts, Andy Roberts, Bryson Pounds and Haley Pounds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Pounds; her parents, Homer Malone and Lavelle Grissom Malone; and one son, Ricky Pounds.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Barnes, Michael Roberts, Jamie Roberts, Scottie Pounds and Brett Pounds. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Wilson and Matt Daniels.

BLAKE POUNDS

FULTON ‑ Blake Pounds, 13, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at his home. He was a seventh grade stu­dent at Fulton Junior High School. He was a mem­ber of East Heights Baptist Church and recently had been attending Big Oak Baptist Church m Fulton. He was an avid card collector and enjoyed bas­ketball.

BOONEVILLE - Dalton W. Pounds, 88, died Thursday at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in East Prentiss Cemetery.

Survivors include four nieces and one nephew.

BOONEVILLE - Eula Mae Pounds, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Prentiss Counts to David Tomas Adams and Amy Gladys Weapon Adams. She was an employee of the shoe manufacturing industry and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing flowers and gospel music.

Services will be at 10 am today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Ricky Green and Danny Short officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

EVA RAY POUNDS

Eva Ray Pounds, 89, of Box 138, New Site, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1995, at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with Minister Calvin Barber officiating, assisted by Minister Dwain Brown. Burial was in the church cemetery. Salts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pounds was a retired homemaker and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

She is survived by three daughters, Dean Cromeans and Marie Moreland, both of New Site and Mauvine Clark of Booneville; seven sons, Randle Pounds, Guy Pounds, Hershel Pounds, Johnny Pounds, Hubert Ray Pounds, Roy Pounds and Wilford Pounds, all of New Site; 39 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Wilbur Pounds.

His grandsons served as pallbearers.

BOONEVILLE - Hazel Mae Jacobs Pounds, 70, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born May 22, 1930, in Alcorn County to George "Bud" Jacobs and Carrie Mae Floyd Jacobs. She worked for many years at Prentiss Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Little Brown Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, crocheting and growing flowers.

BOONEVILLE - Henry Elbert Pounds, 81, died Saturday, April 28, 1990, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a retired grocer and past owner of Liberty Self Service, Henry Pounds Wholesale and M and H Food Store. He was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ, where he was the longest serving deacon for over 40 years. He served on the Prentiss County School Board for many years and was a member of the Booneville Lions Club,

BOONEVILLE - Hershel Tays Pounds, 64, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home in New Site after along illness. He was born May 20, 1935, in Prentiss County to Hubert Troy Pounds and Eva R. Barnes Pounds. He was a timber cutter and a member of the Church of Christ faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He married Eula Mae Adams on June 4, 1954.

Hugh Randle Pounds, 75, of New Site, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Mr. Pounds was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and a retired employee of Golden Manufacturing Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Roy Pounds and Eva Ray Barnes Pounds; two brothers, Hershel Pounds and Wilbur Pounds; a grandson, Waylon Smith; and a granddaughter, Lee Ann Pounds.

Juanita Pharr Pounds, 89, of Booneville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 1 2002, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth following a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery.

Funeral Services Are Conducted

Here Tuesday For Kenneth Pounds

Services for Kenneth Pounds of Booneville were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. E. S. Furr and Bro. W. R. Ward officiating. Burial was in the Booneville Cemetery with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge.

Mr. Pounds, 44, died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Mass.

He was senior Vice President and Director of Peoples Bank and Trust Co. at Booneville. He was chairman of Prentiss County Planning Commission, and served as secretary-treasurer of Booneville Community Center and Prentiss County Industrial Development Committee.

Mr. Pounds was a director of Prairie Girl Scout Council, a member of the local Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of First United Methodist Church and a former trustee of Booneville City schools and of Northeast i Mississippi Hospital.

He was also a former councilman in the Junior Bankers' section of the Mississippi Bankers Association and a former director of the Northeast Mississippi chapter of the American Institute of Banking.

A graduate of Booneville High School, he attended Mississippi State University and was graduated from Louisiana State University's School of Banking. He was a charter member of Booneville Jaycees and a former member of Booneville Lions Club.

He was an outstanding business man in the commercial and agricultural development of Booneville and Prentiss County and gave much of his time, talents and energy in these activities. In the civic and political life of his city and his state he was interested, active and generous in his efforts to promote the welfare of its citizens.

Mr. Pounds was in many ways a benefactor of his community. In connection with his various business interests, he was called on by many people for counsel and assistance in their personal affairs. The conscientious, sound and interested character of his advice was well recognized and often advantageously used.

 He leaves his wife, Mrs. Vonceil Caveness Pounds of Booneville, two daughters, Miss Phyllis Pounds and Miss Marsha Pounds both of Booneville; three brothers, Theron Pounds and Oswald Pounds of Booneville and Dr. Billy Pounds of Columbus, Miss.; four sisters,       Mrs.

Pittsburg, Pa., Mrs. Percy White, Mrs. W. L. Gullett, Jr. and Mrs. Clifford Long all of Booneville.

Pallbearers were R. B. Prichard, Howard Davidson, Robert Floyd, Norman Young, James Bethay, Doug Jumper, Erwin Russell and Paul Anderson. Directors of Peoples Bank and Trust Co. were honorary pallbearers.

The many floral arrangements the contributions to the Myelo Fibrosis Research Center in Boston and memorials to the building fund of the First Methodist Church in Booneville attested to the high esteem ink which he was held.

Kenneth R. Pounds, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a native of Prentiss County, and a resident of Lee County and Tupelo for many years. He was retired, and a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

DENNIS - Linda Pounds, 55, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at her home. She was a native of Itawamba County. She attended the First Baptist Church of Dennis. She was a factory worker for 25 years and an antique dealer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Parish Hartley, Bro. Ron Deaton and Bro. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Dennis Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, David Pounds of Dennis; two sons, Jeff Long of Belmont and Jason Long of Tupelo; her father, Noah Swindle of Golden; two brothers, Lewis Arvin Swindle and Franklin Alfred Swindle of Golden; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Swindle, and a niece, Tina Carter.

LUCILLE POUNDS

BOONEVILLE - Lucille Tays" Pounds, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after an extended illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Booneville to Rodney A. and Birdie Hanley Tays. She was the widow of Theron S. Pounds who she married Dec. 28, 1944. She was a graduate of Booneville High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College. In her earlier years, she worked in the offices of the Chancery Clerk, the. Circuit Clerk, the sheriff of Prentiss County and in the nursing profession. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a charter member of the Booneville Garden Club and served two terms as president. She was a charter and life member of Booneville Junior Auxiliary. She had served two terms as president of Ladies Activities of the Booneville Country Club, and she was instrumental in the first organization of Girls Scouts in Booneville in the early fifties. She enjoyed working with flowers and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Saundra Pounds Smith; and one sister, Nellie Ben Tays Ladd.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Hankins and Bro. J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

BALDWYN - Marcia Gail Pounds, 24, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a six year illness. She was a Baptist and a waitress at Red Lobster.

THERON STANLEY POUNDS SR.

Theron Stanley Pounds Sr., 66, of Booneville, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after brief illness.

Services were Thursday, Oct. 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Booneville with the Rev. William V. Kemp, assisted by the Revs. Charles Potts and E. S. Furr, officiating. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery. Salts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pounds had been the owner of Service Insurance and Pounds Realty in Booneville since 1947, and was a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service where he had worked for 32 years. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a veteran of World War II where he served as a major in the Marine Corp.

Mr. Pounds had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Peoples Bank and Trust Company in Tupelo for 17 years. He also served on the Executive Committee, Insurance Committee, Loan Committee, Trust Committee, Budget Committee and Audit Committee.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a past chairman of the Board of Stewards and past chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, a Mason, and a former member of the Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Pounds; two sons, Stan Pounds of Booneville and Jim Pounds of Jackson, Miss. ; four sisters, Mrs. Ortha Long, Mrs. Opha White and Mrs. Marie Gullett, all of Booneville and Mrs. Betty Crawford of Farmington, Mich.; one brother, Billy Pounds of Columbus, Miss., and three grandchildren.

NEW SITE - Troy Wilbur Pounds, 66, died Wednesday, November 14, 1990, at his home after a brief illness. He was a retired sawmill operator, a World War II veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

Willie Pierce Pounds, 60, died Wednesday, August 17, 1983 at the St. Dominic Hospital. He was a retired employee of Delta Airline and a veteran of World War II.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, at the McMillan Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery

Mr. Pounds was a first cousin of Robert Lee Smith of Belmont, Ms.

I.T. POWELL

Died, on the 16th inst., at his home in east Booneville,

Mr. I.T. Powell, in the 59th year of his life. He was afflicted with a carbuncle on his mouth. He was confined to his room only a few days before his death, there was no particular expectation of dissolution until a few hours priot to his death.

Mr. Powell has been a citizen of Prentiss county for more than a quarter of a century, coming here from Henderson county, Tennessee, when he was a young man. He married the daughter of the late John Donaldson. He leaves a wife and three children.

He was a man that had a great many friends. One only had to look into the faces of the large concorse of relatives, friends and acquaintances who were in attendance on the last sad rites incidental to placing his remains in the grave, to be consious of the high estimation in which he was held. He was a gallant ex-Confederate soldier and fought throughout the was as a private in a Tennessee Regiment. The deceased was a very active man and continually on the move looking after his affairs. He was a member of the Osborne Creek Baptist Church and was an earnest, conscientious Christian gentleman, and walked upright before God and his fellowmen. He was always a warm friend of the writer of this, and up to the time of his death had continued for years without a single interruption. His memory will ever occupy a warm place in our heart.

It is the almost univeral expression on the receipt of the news of his decease that the community has lost a good, useful, energetic, progressive man and citizen. As a friend to the bereaved family we tender condolence and sympathy in this their h hour of desolation, and we believe the whole community will join us in sympathizing with them.

James A. Prentiss, Sr., 63, of Booneville, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Prentiss was retired from the U. S. Air Force and a truck driver; a member of Booneville Church of Christ; and a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Sarah M. Prentiss; one sister, Evelyn Thomas; and two grandsons, Alan and Rusty Prentiss.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lylia Henry Prentiss; one daughter, Sara Malinda Rorie and husband Rick of New Site; two sons, James Prentiss, Jr. and Robert Alan Prentiss and wife Angie, all of Booneville; four sisters, Maggie Simmons, Dorothy Spencer, Faye Miller and Catherine Lewis, all of Booneville; two brothers, William "Jack" Prentiss of Pisgah and Charles D. NETTLETON – Ina Maurine Barrett Prentice, 87, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at River Place Nursing Center in Amory. She was born on Dec. 8, 1922, in Marietta to Zero and Kitera Cole Barrett. She lived most of her life in Zion, Ill., but had lived in Monroe County for the past 20 years. She was a retired factory worker for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Ill., and a Presbyterian. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, and making arts and crafts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Bill Payne and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - Robert Alan Prentiss II, infant son of Alan and Angle Prentiss, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Erlene Abbate, Autie Henry and William Prentiss.

Sonya Nicole Prentiss, 19, of Booneville, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville as a result of an automobile accident

MISS JESSIE LOU PRESLEY

Miss Jessie Lou Presley, 71, of Booneville, died Sunday, Nov. 21, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.

Services were Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. R. J. Bostick and Bro. Trent Grubbs officiating. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery.

Miss Presley was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church when it was organized in 1961. She taught Sunday School for 48 years. Miss Presley was the correspondent for the Booneville Happenings column at the Banner Independent for a number of years.

Miss Presley, a native of Prentiss County, was an employee at Blue Bell for 47 years. She retired in 1974. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Presley.

She is survived by three brothers, Neil Presley of Wauchula, Fla., Robert Dale Presley of Jackson, Miss., and Joe Presley of Aberdeen; and three sisters, Mrs. Dollye Hodges of Booneville, Mrs. Julia Wilson of New Albany and Mrs. Lila Johnson of Jackson, Tenn.

Allen B. "Mossy' Presley Sr., 71, of Marietta, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Presley and the Rev. Dewayne Morgan officiating. Burial was in Siloam Cemetery.

Mr. Presley was a member of East Marietta Baptist Church, NRA, VFW, D. A. V. and ASA Umpire Association. He umpired for over 50 years. He was an avid quail hunter and sportsman. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired from the U. S. Navy after 28 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Presley, Herman Presley and Herschel Presley.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years. Madge Sparks Presley: one son, Allen Presley Jr. of Marietta: one sister, Aunice Barnett of Booneville; three brothers, Jack Presley of Baldwyn, Taylor Presley of Booneville and the Rev. Billy Presley of Gates, N. C.; two grandsons, Allen Joseph Presley and his wife, Leslie, and Shawn Presley, all of Marietta; one granddaughter, Jolene Presley of Longmont, Colo.; and two great grandchildren, Sydney Paige and Conner Allen Presley.

Pallbearers were Jim Davis, Hoyle Pharr, Reed Sparks, Riley Presley, Jim Barnett and J. T. Presley. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews.

BOONEVILLE - Robert G. “Pap” Pressley, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County. He was an electrical maintenance man for Blue Ball Industries and a Methodist. He attended East Mississippi Junior and Delta State University on a basketball scholarship. He was a semi pro basketball player for the Laurel Oilers. He was an Army combat veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Head.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Jim Holcomb officiating Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha E. John Henry Price, 88, of Booneville, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.

Services were Tuesday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Hankins officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lee Gardner. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery.

Mr. Price was a member of First United Methodist Church in Booneville. He was self-employed in the retail appliance business for 50 years. He was a member of the Booneville Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary International in 1986 and presented the Service Above Self Award for outstanding service to the Booneville Club in 1999. He was a charter member of the Booneville Golf and Country Club where he loved playing golf. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Floyd Price of Booneville; his daughter, Betty Price Donahoo and her husband, John, of Huntsville.

Ala., his son, John David Price and his wife, Amanda, of Booneville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Sadie Morton Price.

CORINTH - Scottie Anglon Price, 52, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at the Alliance Hospital in Holly Springs. He was born Oct. 28, 1951, to Anglon and Ophelia Hammock Price. He was a truck driver for ASCO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers with his grandchildren.

Rites Tuesday For D. L. Prichard

Services for Daniel L, Prichard, one of Booneville's most prominent citizens, a civic and church leader, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Trent F. Grubbs and Bro. Billy Roby officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge. He was 70.

Mr. Prichard, a civil engineer and dairy farmer, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday in the Baptist Hospital in Memphis after an illness of two weeks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of which he was a deacon, a member of the Draft Board since World War II, and a member of the City Planning Commission.

Mr. Prichard and his family have taken an active interest, lending of their talents, foresight, initiativeness and business ability, in the economic and cultural advancement of this area.

His devotion to his family, his friends and his church was unsurpassed.

He was the son of the late Dave L. Prichard and Bettie Grisham Prichard. He was married to the former Miss Mary Baker of Kentucky and they moved to Booneville in 1926.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Baker Prichard; two sans, Harold Prichard and R. B. Prichard, both of Booneville; one sister, Mrs. J. W. Sumners of Guntown, and eight grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE - Wanda Lee Prichard, 68, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis. She was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Glen to Raymond Milton Taylor and Vivian Lynn Stricklen Taylor. She was a member of the First 6aptist Church of Booneville, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a Training Union teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an American Red Cross volunteer. She was invaluable to her husband in his home-based business, Booneville Refrigeration, but first and foremost, she was a homemaker.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lynn Jones, Dr. Bill Duncan and Dr. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, R. B. Prichard, whom she married Dec. 26, 1953; two sons, Jan Prichard and wife, Mary, and Mark Prichard, all of Booneville; two daughters, Lisa Bethea and husband, Robert, of Ringgold, La., and Amy Martin and husband, Alan, of, Pass Christian; a brother, Milton Taylor and wife, Agnes, of Greenville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

TISHOMINGO - Harold E. Prince, 67, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Tishomingo Hospital after a long illness. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He was a welder and the owner of HEP Trucking.

A family memorial graveside service was held Monday, July 19, at Fairview Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jessie Pruitt, 58, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a member and Deacon of the Tishomingo Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pruitt Family Quartet. A song writer and poet, he loved music and made his own guitars. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment owner and operator.

Services were Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Tishomingo Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Watkins and Bro. Jim Pinkerton officiating. Burial was in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

LEROY PRUITT

SALTILLO - Leroy Pruitt, 73, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Booneville after a brief illness He was retired from the U. S. Army and served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with Gary Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

L.A. PRUITT

GOLDEN - Lois A. Pruitt, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the V.A. Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Itawamba County Jan. 23, 1922, to the late Frank and Ona Mayhall Pruitt. He was a retired construction worker and was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. and attended the Walker Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Walker Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Lipsey officiating. Burial will be in the Hodge Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Janis Brown and her husband, Billy Joe, and Mary Letson, all of Golden; two sons, Jerry Pruitt and his wife, Ellen, and Randy Pruitt and his wife, Linda, all of Golden; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Pruitt; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Freddie Pruitt; five brothers; and two sisters.

MALINDA PRUITT

CORINTH - Malinda Edge Pruitt, 102, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at her home. She was a retired employee of the Waldron Hotel and the Cannoneer Restaurant. She joined Synagogue Church at an early age and served as a Sunday school teacher and secretary of the Missionary Society. She later joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on various committees. She had a profound love for God, and her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia M. B. Church with the Rev. Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, John Q. Edge of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Pruitt; her parents, McAndy and Susan Harris; two daughters, Leatrice Hannon and Loraine Edge; a son, Willie Austin Edge; and a grandson, James L. Hannon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

VESTER V. PRUITT

IUKA - Vester V. Pruitt, 79, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a member of the Iuka Church of Christ and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator of many years and was a member of the Operating/Engineering Local No. 624 in Jackson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Mr. Lance Foster officiating. Burial will be in the Rutledge-Salem Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mavious Pruitt of Iuka; three sons, Roger Pruitt of Tresvent, Tenn., Mark Pruitt of Albertville, Ala., and Tommy Pruitt of Rienzi; one daughter, Becky Parsons of Iuka; one brother, Lester Pruitt of Iuka; three sisters, Geraldine Nolan, Marie Cummings and Betty Moore, all of Iuka; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Dennis Delman Pruitt, Danny Gregory Pruitt and Jessie James Pruitt; his parents, Marion and Pearl Pruitt; two brothers, Arthur Pruitt and James Pruitt; and one sister, Maedean Ledbetter.

W.D. PRUITT

BALDWYN - W.D. Pruitt, 89, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the North Miss. Medical Center. He was a graduate of Wheeler High School and Sunflower College. He was a graduate of John Gupton College and served internship at McPeters Funeral Home. He was an employee of Waters Funeral Home for 42 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, camping and horseback riding. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was a pioneer member of East Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for 54 years and taught Sunday School for over 25 years.

IUKA - C.L. Puckett, 76, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was retired from the ministry, where he was a dedicated pastor for more than 44 years.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wanda Brumley Puckett of Iuka; three sons, Johnny Puckett and wife, Beth, of Memphis, Greg Puckett and wife, Shelley, of St. Louis, Mo., and Andy Puckett and wife, Cheri, of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Debbie Curtis and husband, Mike, of Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Edmund Puckett and wife, Linda, and Ernest Lee Puckett and wife, Wanda, all of Iuka, and Roy Puckett of Burnsville; a sister, Shirley Smith and husband, Bill, of Bolivar, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Brian Curtis, Kim Thomas, Nikki Turner and Travis Puckett; three great-grandchildren, Ellen Curtis, and Jake and Josh Pruitt.

FLORA WOOD PUCKETT

Flora Wood Puckett, 83, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a Christian and a Baptist. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mavous Phifer officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery near Glen.

Survivors include one son; Ernest C. Puckett of Mooreville; three daughters Ann Yow of Rogersville, Ala., Jane Helton of Burnsville, and Linda Franks of Plantersville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odus Puckett; two daughters, Shirley Mae Puckett and Sharon Jean Puckett; and a son, James Nathaniel Puckett.

Pallbearers were Daniel Puckett, John McCray, Kevin Helton, David Franks, Noonan Helton, and Kenneth Frantz.

KATIE PUCKETT

IUKA - Katie Moore Puckett, 75, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home in Iuka. She was a bus driver for Head Start for many years. She also was a former meter reader for the Harmony-Central Water Association.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Dwain Whitehurst officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, James H. Puckett and wife, Gena, of Mooreville; a sister, Grace McBride of Iuka; a grandson, James M. Puckett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Inez Moore; a brother, Tommy Moore; and two infant children.

There will be no visitation.

MILDRED MCNAIR PURVIS

CORINTH - Mildred McNair Purvis, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the Whitfield Nursing Home. She was a member of Salem Christian Church and a retired employee of Weaver's Pants Factory.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Purvis of Corinth; a son, Jimmy McNair and wife, Myrna, of Corinth; a daughter, Glenda Dilworth and husband, Gerry, of Corinth; grandchildren, Marty Dilworth and wife, Robin, Salita Dilworth, Jeff McNair and wife, Wanda, and Paul McNair and wife, Lenora; six great-grandchildren, Darrell and Clint McNair, Anna and Chip McNair, and Josh and Ashley Dilworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, R.C. McNair, and her mother, Ila Walker Darnell.

CORINTH - Ruth D. Putman, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Country Cottage. She was a longtime resident of Corinth and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Frank Burton officiating. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.

Survivors include a nephew, Jim L. Stanfield and wife, Anna, of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-niece, Tammi Swaringim and husband, Gary, of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-nephew, Bryan Gerberding and wife, Wendel, of Atlanta, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Putman, in 1976; her parents, Lester James Denning and Emma Denning; a brother, William Denning; and two sisters, Virginia Stanfield and Nell Denning.

CHARLES ROBERT PUTT SR.

COLUMBUS – Charles Robert Putt Sr., 67, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at his residence. He was born July 20, 1936, in Corinth to the late Clarence and Mattie Patterson Putt. He was formerly of the Pickwick, Tenn. area until his retirement in 1997 as superintendent with International Paper after 30 years of service. He had lived in the Columbus area for 11 years. He was a member of the Deerbrook Baptist Church in Brooksville and a Mason.

Services will be at 6 p.m. today at the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Lemmons officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth City Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors of Corinth is in charge of the local arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Frances L. King Putt of Columbus; one son, Chuck Putt of Columbus; two step-sons, Jay “Kellie” King of Columbus and Michael King of Brooksville; one daughter, Peggy Golding of Pontotoc; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sue Putt; a granddaughter, Staci Putt; and his brother, Billy Putt.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Boyd and husband, Tommy, of New Albany; a son, Billy Putt of Tupelo; two brothers, Albert Guin and Herbert Guin, both of Tupelo; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Putt; her parents, Tom and Alice Guin; a son, Gene Putt; two sisters, Maye Collier and Zana Floyd; and a brother, Charles Guin.

FLORA PUTT

RIENZI - Flora Ellen Putt, 66, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. She was the widow of Billy Putt. She loved quilting.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Hayden Moreland officiating. Burial will be in the Jumpertown Cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Verda Box of Rienzi and Martha Bridges of Jumpertown; four brothers, Alvin Heathcock of Booneville, Henry Hubbard of Fairbanks, Alaska, James Hubbard of Independence, Mo., and Robert Hubbard of West Memphis, Ark.; nieces and caregivers, Reda Short, Yonna Bates, Tonya Johnson, Shelly Short and Kelly Short; her nephews, Robert Smith and Jason Bates; several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and four sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Short, David Short, Jason Bates, Herschel Hubbard, Charles Brown and Scotty Johnson.

BOONEVILLE - John Henry Putt, 87, retired produce merchant, died Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home with burial in Booneville Cemetery. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. Putt, the husband of Mabel Spencer Putt, also leaves a son, Melvin Putt of Booneville; a sister, Mrs. Annie Lou Harber of Booneville, and three brothers, Earnest, Ashmore and Herman Ashmore, both of Michigan City, Ind., and J. W. Ashmore of Booneville.

MABEL S. PUTT

BOONEVILLE - Mabel S. Putt, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 14 1999, at Baptist Hospital in Booneville after a long illness. She was a resident of Longwood Manor. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the adult Sunday school class. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and growing flowers, especially roses.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Williams officiating and the Rev. Danny Riley assisting. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Melvin Putt, and his wife, Louise, of Booneville; five nieces, Charlene Sprain, Edith Lott, Opal Martin, Doris Wilbanks and Jeri Huddleston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Putt, whom she married in 1922, a daughter, Virginia Putt; her parents, Charlie and Ellen Baker Spencer, a brother, Carl Spencer; and two sisters, Fannie Mae Champion and Dorothy Williams.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 P. M. today and until service time Thursday.

ROBERT PUTT SR.

GUNTOWN - Robert Allen Putt Sr., 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Baldwyn to Ruby Owen Nichols and William R. Putt. He served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy for a combined total of 20 years. After that, he worked for and retired from Perrilli Armstrong Tire & Rubber Company. He was a 32nd degree Mason. His hobbies included fishing. He was a family man, devoted to his wife and children.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Guntown with the Rev. Bryan Wilson officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Putt; two daughters, Zina Putt of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kerry Patton of Guntown; three sons, Robert A. Putt Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenny Rambaugh of Mitchellville, Iowa, and Leroy Putt of the home; his father, William R. Putt of Mantachie; two sisters, Margaret Grissom and husband, Windell, of Saltillo, and Betty Thorton and husband, Gerald, of Alpine; three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Owen Nichols; his stepmother, Susie Putt; his stepfather, Nick Nichols; and a brother, Billy R. Putt.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday.
