RIENZI – Jaye Glynn Noe, 53, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. He was a former employee of ITT in Corinth and the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Counce, Tenn., and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Hardin County Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Vanderford officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Family Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jones Noe of Rienzi; two stepdaughters, Charla Essary and husband, Dusty, of Kossuth, and Cassie Sumler and husband, Justin, of Corinth; a brother, Jesse Crawford Noe Jr. and wife, Anne, of Bartlett, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Brooke Palmer, Jaicey Sumler, Heidi Sumler and Zoe Essary; his uncles and aunts, James and Shirley Rinks, Junior and Wilma Ruth Rinks, and Gene and Marie Rinks; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Carmen Kennedy, Warner Ray and Shirley Jones, Diane and Thomas Greenhaw, Margaret and Johnny Houston, and Wanda and Scotty Ross.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Crawford and Verble Noe.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kennedy, Justin McLemore, Kevin Jones, Bobby Thompson, Ricky Matlock and Jeff Russell.

CHARLES D. NORRIS

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - Charles Delbert Norris, 82, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and retired after 20 years of service, having reached the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was later a ROTC instructor for the Memphis City school system and retired after 12 years of employment. He was a Baptist and enjoyed playing bluegrass music.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Joe Cupp officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Cummings Norris of Collierville, Tenn.; two sons, Steve Norris of Townsend, Tenn., and Wayne Norris of Union City, Tenn.; one daughter, Myra Norris Simons and husband, Rick, of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, A.J. Norris of Corinth and Troy Norris of Booneville; one sister, Annie May Norris of Iuka; one grandchild, Garrett Simons of Nashville.

Rites Held For Mr. Floyd Norris

Floyd Norris, 86, died Saturday, September 26, 1998, at Iuka Hospital. He was a member of Rowland Mills Baptist Church.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frankie Smith officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Annie Mae Norris and Ola McCoy of Iuka; three brothers, Troy Norris of Booneville, Charles D. Norris of Collierville, Tenn., and A. J. Norris of Corinth; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ricky Norris, Randy Norris, Johnny Norris, Steve Norris, Milton Vanderford and Johnny Vanderford.

 

W. T. NORRIS

BOONEVILLE ‑ Wuhan Tell W. T." Norris, 67, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 123. AMVETS Post 86 and DAV Chapter 43

BELMONT - James E. Northcutt, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Daniel Nursing Home. He was a native of Nauvoo, Ala. He was the owner and operator of a local accounting office for 15 years. He was a member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and researching his family history.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont with Bro. Jack Maroon, Bro. Ed Saunders and Bro. Parish Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery.

FRESNO, Calif. - Fannie Lois Northington, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at her daughter's home in Fresno, Calif. She was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Cullman, Ala., to Howell and Fannie Williamson Cramer. She was a former resident of Belmont. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Jeremy Harris officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Garden.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Toy Northington of Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Fee and husband, Gary, of Fresno; a grandson, Steven Northington of Fresno; a brother, Paul Cramer of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Jack Northington and wife, Beatrice, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Northington, and Ellen Sanders and husband, Alvis, all of Belmont, and Eunice Ware of Tishomingo.

TOY DELL NORTHINGTON

FRESNO, Calif. - Toy Dell Northington, 85, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at his daughter's home in Fresno, Calif. He was born April 9, 1920, in Belmont. He was a crane operator for U.S. Steel for 25 years. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps and fought in the Battle of Britain, North Africa, Sicily and Italy.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Erick Brown officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Garden.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Fee and husband, Gary, of Fresno, Calif.; a grandson, Steven Northington of Fresno; two sisters, Ellon Sanders and Eunice Northington Ware, both of Belmont; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Northington of Belmont and Beatrice Northington of Muscle Shoals, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Fannie Northington, on Feb. 22, 2004; his parents, Perry and Ora Northington; three brothers, Leon Northington, LeRoy Northington and Jack Northington; a brother-in-law, Alvis Sanders; and a sister-in-law, Willorene Northington.

Pallbearers will be Gary Northington, Jeff Ware, Scott Northington, Steve Northington, Randy Northington and Jimmy Northington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert Stamphill and Elwood Hall.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

FREDERICK H. NORTON

RIENZI - Frederick H. "Fred" Norton, 82, of Rienzi, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born March 5, 1921, in Torrington, Conn. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy immediately following the attack on Pearl Harbor and served the duration of World War II as a Radioman on the troop transports USS Bellatrix and USS Electra, seeing action during numerous Pacific landing as well as the invasion of Sicily.

Following his Naval service he began a 30 year career with Southern Bell in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It was there he first exhibited the leadership skills and devotion to community service that would endear him to all who were know him the rest of his life. He became president of the Telephone Pioneers while in Florida and was Methodist Youth Fellowship Counselor at First United Methodist Church in Park Temple.

Upon his retirement from Southern Bell, he and his wife moved to Murphy, N. C., where he served his community as a Methodist Lay Reader and was a choir member at the Ranger United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman, Citizen of the Year (Belleview, N. C.), president of the Murphy Civitan Club and Civitan Lieutenant Governor. In addition to his many civic and church activities, he was also active in recreational activities such as his bowling league and Special Olympics.

He relocated to Rienzi July, 2002, and immediately became involved in local Civitan activities. He attended Rienzi Baptist Church.

His loss will be mourned by hundreds. He was an active servant of others wherever he lived.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Funeral Home in Corinth. Burial will be in the Forrest Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Mansell Norton of Rienzi; five daughters, Charlene James of Huntsville, Ala., Joyce Jamison of Loganville, Ga., Deborah Aronowicz of Trenton, Fla., Sandie Hayward Johnson of Rienzi and Doris Strickland of Beaumont, Texas; seven grandchildren, Tracie Underwood, Richard James, Robert James, Chris Ridberg, Will Jamison, Paige Norton Aronowicz and Jennifer Norton Aronowicz; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Bolton of Murphy, N. C. and Elinore Roberts of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth Norton of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marion Smith Norton; and a brother, Roger Norton.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

 

JEANNINE RICHEY NORTON

Jeannine Richey Smith Norton, 64, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., died Thursday, March 23, 2000.

Services were Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia, Ala., with the Rev. Kenneth Hale and the Rev. W. E. Bailey officiating. Burial was in Colbert Memorial Gardens in Tuscumbia, Ala.

Mrs. Norton was a native of Wheeler and had lived in Muscle Shoals for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Smith Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Elbert L. Norton of Muscle Shoals two sons, Phillip Anthony Smith of Turlock, Calif., and Mark Stephen Smith of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; a daugh­ter, Lisa Smith LaBoone of Muscle Shoals; two stepsons, Matt Norton of Kentucky and Jeff Nor­ton of Tuscumbia, Ala.; her mother, Katherine Richey of Booneville; a brother Sam Richey of Baldwyn; six grandchildren and two nephews.

Pallbearers were Jerre Watson, Leon Aycock, Ed Smith, Terry Woodis, Ray Pace and Carlos McMullins.

JOHN E. NORTON

John E. Norton, 70, of 314 2nd Ave., Columbia, Tenn., cited Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1992, at the Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn., after an extended illness.

Services were Friday. Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Robertson officiating Burial was in Little Brown Cemetery.

Mr. Norton was a retired employee of the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Collierville, Tenn.

He was born and raised In Tippah County, a graduate of Mississippi State University and an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Denson Norton: a daughter, Fay Hallmark of Decatur. Ala.; two sons, Jim Norton of Columbia, Tenn., and Rick Norton of Cleveland, Tenn.: two sisters, Viola Voyles of Olive Branch and Louise Horton of Walnut; two brothers, Charles Norton of McMinnville, Tenn., and Allan Norton of Booneville; and three grandchildren.

 

LOLA FAYE NORTON

CORINTH - Lola Faye Norton, 62, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at her residence. She was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Spencer and the Rev. Pete Wooley officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Danny Norton of Little Rock. Ark.; one daughter, Janet Barnes of Corinth; three sisters, Vera Miller and Era Mae Putt, both of Corinth, and Elaine Allen of Pickwick, Tenn; one brothers, Richard Spencer of Corinth; two grandchildren, Chris and Jill Norton of Corinth and Steven Barnes of Corinth; three great-grandchildren, Madison Norton, Marlena Norton and Mallory Norton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carlos Norton; her parents, William and Maudie Spencer; and one brother, William Derrell Spencer.

POLLY DENSON NORTON

COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Rose Polly Denson Norton, 76, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at her residence in Columbia, Tenn. She was a native of Prentiss County, Miss., born to the late John Dewey and Flora Bennett Denson. She was a retired dietitian for the Maury County Board of Education. She was the widow of John Edward Norton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Robertson officiating. Burial will be n the Little Brown Freewill Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Fay Hallmark and husband, Gary, of Decatur, Ala.; two sons, Jim Norton and wife, Karen, of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn., and Rick Norton and wife, Trina, of Cleveland, Tenn.; a sister, Lorene Wax of Booneville; three grandchildren, Jennifer Still and husband, Paul, Jeffrey Norton and wife, Renee, and Elizabeth Ann Norton; several nieces and nephews.

Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

MRS. MABLE BARNETT NORWOOD

Mrs. Mable Barnett Norwood, 91, of Covington, Tenn., died Wednesday, July 17, 1985, in Covington following an extended illness.

Graveside services were Thursday, July 18, a 3 p.m. at Booneville Cemetery with R. C. Spencer officiating. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norwood was the widow of R. L. Norwood. She was a housewife and a Baptist.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Norwood of Memphis, Richard Norwood of Hanfort, Calif., and Robert Norwood; a sister, Jean Basset of Corinth and seven grandchildren.

 

MALLIE NORWOOD

CORINTH - Mallie Knight Norwood, 84, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at her home. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a charter member of the Corinth Garden Club. She was an avid supporter of Corinth Theatre-Arts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Norwood Jr.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Corinth National Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be in Corinth National Cemetery. McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Carl W. "Johnnie" Norwood Jr.; a niece, Lisa Oakley of Gatlinburg, Tenn.

STEVE NORWOOD

Phil "Steve" Norwood, 68, died Tuesday, Aug, 11, 2002, at the North Miss  Medical Center He was a devoted and faithful member of Mt Pleasant M B Church where he served on the Deacon Board, and served on the Benevolence Committee, the Transportation Committee and on the New Membership orientation and the plan ding committee He graduated from George Washington Carver High School He attended the Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs. He was the first African American to serve on the Tupelo School Board where he was appointed in 1972 and remained on the board for 20 years He was a member of the city's Bi‑Racial Committee. He was a Boy Scout Leader and served as the first Chairman of the Local Development Corporation. He was a member of the Henry Hampton Elks Lodge No. 782. He was a retired employee of South Central Bell/AT&T after 30 years of service, He was a licensed barber. He often almost ad is time and service to those in need. He was a talented musician, a great fisherman and all star basketball player.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tupelo Civic Auditorium with the Rev. Lewis McGee officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant M B Church Cemetery. Grayson‑Porter's Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Norwood of Tupelo; five children, Larry Norwood, Alex Norwood and his wife, Teresa, and Brenda DePriest, all of Tupelo, Rhonda Jones and her husband, Samuel, of Henderson, Tenn., and Jet fery Norwood and his wife, Patricia, of Hattiesburg; one brother, Elgin Norwood and his wife, Armed, of Mt. BOONEVILLE ‑ Bernard Ray Nunley, 82, died Friday, Dec. 3 1999, at the Noun Mississippi Medical Center after along illness He was an ordained minister in the Church of God and a member o Woodmen of tile World Lodge No. 60. He enjoyed gardening.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sun­day at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Larry Hill and Bro. Tulon Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Church of God Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Arlene Lambert Nunley; three daughters, Ouida Bishop Goods Reba McGaughy and Mary Lynn, all of Booneville; three sons. Benny. C. CLARENCE R. NUNLEY

Clarence R. Nunley, 80, of Route 6, Booneville, died Friday, Jan. 19, 1990, at Aletha Lodge Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Services were Saturday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Don Riley officiating. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery.

Mr. Nunley was a retired farmer and a Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Thompson Nunley; a stepdaughter, Ruth Carroll of Booneville; two step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

 

 

EARL NUNLEY

Earl Nunley, 79, of Iuka, died Thursday, March 16, 2000 at the Iuka Hospital.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired construction worker.

Mr. Nunley is survived by his wife, Annette s. Nunley of Iuka; three daughters, Edwina and Tom Welch, Donna and Tim Trickey, Tracie and Chuck Jones; three brothers, Olen Nunly, Johnny Nunley, Tommy Nunley; two sisters, Artie Crowell and Barbara Waddle; three grandchildren, Justin Trickey, ReAnna Welch, Bailee Jones all of Iuka.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2000 at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel,  Bro. C. J. Puckett and Bro. Gene Yance officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

LAWRENCE NUNLEY JR.

Lawrence Nunley Jr. 64, of Burnsville, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at his residence. Services were Monday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Chuck Kennedy and the Rev. C. D. Edge officiating. Burial was in Smith's Cemetery in Booneville. Mr. Nunley was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Booneville. He was a retired welder and married for 29 years. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hammerich Nunley of Burnsville; four sons, Lawrence Nunley III of LaSalle, Ill., Richard J. Nunley and Loren F. Nunley, both of Burnsville and Michael A. Nutley and his wife, Susan K., of Rienzi; two daughters, Laurie Moore and her husband, Kevin, of Mendota, Ill., and Tamera L. Nunley and her husband, Marcus, of Booneville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda "Susie" Nunley; his mother, Susie Hearn Nunley; his father, Lawrence Nunley Sr.; and two brothers, William "Bill" Nunley and John Wayne Nutley. Pallbearers were Wade Davis, Joey Floyd, Brian Huff, Bill Huff, Tracy Barnett, Steve Sumler, Marcus Nunley and Bob Cooksey.

IUKA - Maudie Elizabeth Kent Nunley, 88, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and was retired from the Iuka Hospital where she worked in food service. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. William Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Nunley and wife, Retha, and Tommy Nunley and wife, Janet, all of Iuka; one daughter, Barbara Waddle and husband, Reggie, of Fulton; one brother, Cecil Kent of Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Dwan Robinson of Iuka, Kayla Colley of Baldwyn, Christopher Puckett of Tishomingo and Megan Gentry of Booneville; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Puckett and Bryce Gentry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Furnie Nunley; a daughter, Rebecca Gentry; a granddaughter, Kim Cunningham; her parents, Rob and Ada Kent; a sister, Grace Phifer; and three brothers, Millard, James and Reeder Kent.

Pallbearers will be John Kent, Christopher Puckett, Clint Robinson, Donnie Colley, Rick Marlar, Jessie McDuffy and Jimmy Durham.

Memorials may be made to the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Tishomingo, MS.

 

TOMMY Q, NUNLEY

Tommy Q, Nunley, 66, of Booneville, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a brief illness.

Services were Saturday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. at Memory Hills Garden in Germantown, Tenn. Elder Rickey Taylor officiated.

Mr. Nunley was a retired maintenance employee at Holiday Inn in Memphis. He was a Baptist and a Korean War Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Nunley; his parents, Roy and Annie Tyra Nunley; one brother, Ned Nunley; and one sister, Ruth Andrews.

He is survived by three sisters, Betty Owens and Fay Harris, both of Booneville, and Florence Easten of Kenosha, Wis.; and one brother, Alvin Nunley of Booneville.

 

VIVIAN NUNLEY

BOONEVILLE - Vivian Ruth Nunley, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at her daughter's home in the Altitude community near Booneville after a long illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Prentiss County to Robert Edwin Thompson and Lundie Gray Thompson. She attended Liberty United Methodist Church. She was a presser in the garment industry, working for Marietta Manufacturing Co. for 25 years and then for Northeast Manufacturing Co. until retiring at the age of 78. She enjoyed working, senior citizens activities at her church, attending gospel singings and crocheting.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Williams officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Carroll and her husband, Larry, of the Altitude community; a grandson, Clint Carroll and his wife, Georgie, of Booneville; a granddaughter, Camille Burns of Booneville; two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Evan Burns; three sisters, Verna Barker and Ophelia Waddell, both of Booneville, and Louise Yarber and her husband, Howard, of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Evans Holder, in 1967; her second husband, Clarence Nunley, in 1990; and a brother, Gerald Thompson.

Pallbearers will be J. W. Jacobs, James Stanley Long, Junior Geno, Mackie Holder and Jimmy White.

Visitation will continue until service time at the funeral home.

WALTER A. NUNLEY

Walter A. Nunley, 76, of Route 1, Booneville, died Tuesday, April 12, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after an extended illness

Services will be Thursday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at McMillan Funeral Home with Kenneth Duke officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

Mr. Nunley was retired from Kraft Foods. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice Burnes of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Clarence Nunley of Booneville; and one grandson, Richard Burnes.
