BOONEVILLE‑ Erlene Thornton Abbate, 78, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the North Mississippi Med­ical Center after a long illness. She was a retired employee of Prances Manufacturing Co. and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

DIANE ABBOTT

GUNTOWN - Jeanie Diane Harrelson Abbott, 56, of the Blair community, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Baptist Hospital East in Memphis after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and attended the New Direction Community Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Payton Meeks and Bro. Clyde Patton officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, of 27 years, Wayne Abbott, of the Blair community; one son, Jimmy McGee and his wife, Valerie, of the Blair community; two grandchildren, Jenna McGee and Colby McGee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wally and Edith Harrelson.

Pallbearers will be Tony Bailey, Mitchell Brown, Pete Harrelson, Jerry Thrasher, Mike Patton and James Sullivan.

GLADYS ABEL

CORINTH - Gladys Morton Abel, 87, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at the Corinth Health and Rehab Center. A native of Alcorn County, she was born Feb. 20, 1916. She was a member of the West Corinth Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Morton officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Abel and wife, Joyce Quesenberry, of Hattiesburg; a daughter, Ruth Abel Helms and husband, Larry, of Centennial, Colo.; a brother, W. C. Morton of Corinth; two sisters, Bernice Parvin of Corinth and Ann Kuykendall of Memphis; five grandchildren, Leigh Sperry, David Abel, Katie Abel, Hampton Helms and Emily Crooks; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Abel; three sisters, Willie Mae Ketcham, Kate Elliott and Gearldine West; and four brothers, J. W. Morton, Howard Morton, Vance Morton and Clovis Morton.

ALPHUS V. ABLES

IUKA - Alphus V. Ables, 92, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 17, 1910, at New Site to the late David J. and Roxie Hicks Ables. After graduating from Tishomingo Agricultural High School, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a retired chemical research specialist for the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he worked for 35 years. His hobbies were history, genealogy and science, and he enjoyed his family, friends, farm and animals.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with the Rev. Jim Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Joel Cemetery in Dennis.

Survivors include a son, Hayden Ables and wife, Dianne, of Iuka; three daughters, Rita Johnson Nixon and husband, Bill, of Smithville, Tenn., Elizabeth Reynolds of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Martha Keele and husband, Tim, of Tishomingo; a brother, Vernon E. "Buddy" Ables of Iuka; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lera Bethune Ables, his parents, three children, four brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Harlan Bryson, John Kent, Roger Byrd, Jerry Linton, Charles Sweeney and Ronnie Scott.

DENNIS - Loretta Fay Ables, 39, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born June 21, 1965, in Red Bay, Ala. She graduated from Tishomingo High School with top honors. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Iuka Ford for 16 years and Tiffin Motor Homes for 14 years. She had been employed by the Postal Service for five years. She was affiliated with Jordan Hill Church of God of Prophecy.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Cliff Kelton officiating. Burial will be in Joel Cemetery.

Survivors include her parents, Jasper and Linda Ables of Dennis; two sisters, Lucretia Hollis, and Cindi Shewbart and husband, Scott, all of Dennis; a brother, Joseph Ables of Dennis; her grandmother, Audrey Ables of Dennis; a niece, Amanda Patrick of Dennis; four nephews, Bradley Shewbart, Holden Shewbart, Dalton Ables and Wesley Hollis, all of Dennis; three aunts and three uncles, Alma Sartain and husband, Billy P., of Belmont, Linda Ashley and Mike Ables, both of Dennis, and Judy Riddle and husband, Danny, of Tishomingo; many cousins.

SOUTHAVEN - Elton Ables, 88, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at the Whitehaven Community Living Center. He was a farmer for 30 years.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Donnie Wooten and Bro. Wayne Thorn officiating. Burial will be in the Lindsey Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Leah Ables of Southaven; one son, Ralph Ables of Horn Lake; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leona Ables; and two brothers, Curtis Ables and T.C. Ables.

WHIT ABERNETHY

BOONEVILLE - James W. “Whit” Abernethy, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997, at the Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis. He was the manager of Prentiss County Power Association from 1961 until 1983. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1939 with A. B. S. degree in electrical engineering. He served as president of North Mississippi Industrial Development Association, and he was past president of both the Rotary Club and the Booneville Golf and Country Club. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Booneville.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel and graveside services will be at 4  p.m. at the Woodland Cemetery in I Chickasaw County with Dr. Lynn Jones officiating. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Collier Abernethy; two sons, Jim Abernethy of Starkville and Phil Abernethy of Jackson; one sister, Mary Abernethy Dendy of Oxford.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Keenum, Roy Morris, Sam Milton, Doug Ewing, Edward McReynolds i and Dr. Paul Ellzey.

LERA ABLES

Lera Ables, 86, of Iuka, died Thursday, Nov 22, 2001, at the Iuka Hospital.

Services were Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. a Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jin Manley officiating. Burial was in Joel Cemetery.

Mrs. Ables grew up in Belmont and was a 1935 graduate of Belmont High School. She was at active member of Iuka Baptist Church where shy had been president of the WMU and taught Sun day School. She was the past president of the Tishomingo County Election Commission and was a Boy Scout den mother. She enjoyed collecting artifacts and was an avid sportsman.

She is survived by her husband, A. V. Ables o1 Iuka; a son, Hayden Ables of Iuka: three daughters, Rita Johnson of Booneville, Martha Lynr Keele of Tishomingo and Elizabeth Ant Reynolds of Muscle Shoals, Ala.: four brothers, Harold Bethune of Iuka, Waymon Bethune of Dennis, Euell Wayne Bethune and Lamon Bethune, both of Memphis; a sister. Velma Crider of Memphis, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bryan Johnson, Richard Way, Harlan Bryson, Jeremy Ables, Clay Parsons and Roger Byrd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Grady Bethune and Beulah Snider Bethune; two infant sons and a daughter, Alma Faye Ables: a sister, Vera Stephens, and two brothers, Waford Jack Bethune and Elmon (Jim) Bethune.

DENNIS ‑Stanley Earl Ables, 84, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at his home. He was a native of Prentiss County. He was a retired butcher after 3o years and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

BILL ACKLIN

BELMONT - William "Bill" A. Acklin, 80, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a Baptist. He served in the U. S. Army for 20 years, during which he served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Josephine Acklin; one sister, Louise Acklin; and two brothers, John Marion Acklin and Eddie Eugene Acklin.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with the Rev. Jack Maroon and Dr. Parish Hartley officiating. Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Grace Acklin of Belmont; one sister, Leona Smoot of Jackson, Tenn.; two brothers, James Acklin of Bartlett, Tenn., and Jessie Acklin of Nesbit.

GOLDEN - Lee Edward "Ed" Adair, 64, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 1, 1938, in Tremont to Douglas and Dellie Pate Adair. He was a painter. He was a Born-again Christian and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed buck dancing, a hobby which earned him several trophies.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Jones, Bro. Barry Raper and Bro. James Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.

NEW SITE - Charlie Dalton Adams, 80, died Tuesday, December 11, 1991, at hi home after a sudden illness. He was a retired farmer.

BLUE SPRINGS - Charles D. "Doug" Adams, 54, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at his residence. He was born May 15, 1954, in Union County to the late Paul Jack Adams and Alene Swindle Adams. He was a heavy equipment operator for the First District in Pontotoc County. He enjoyed hunting and Nascar racing and he loved his dogs.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Ricky Parks officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery.

BALDWYN - Earl Douglas Adams, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at his sister's home. He was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Baldwyn to the late Abbie and Maggie Adams. He graduated from Baldwyn High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Community College. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served as an assistant crew chief in B-17s in the 8th Air Force in England during World War II. He was a retired employee of the Carnation Milk Company in Baldwyn and a member of the First Christian Church of Baldwyn. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Thomas, Bro. Joe Caraway and Bro. Frank Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - Hermie Dee Smith Adams, 78, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Blue Mountain. She was a waitress and a Baptist. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Tippah County.

Survivors include four sons, James Adams, Mike Adams and Perry Adams, all of Booneville, and Tommy Adams of Arkansas; two daughters, Doris Couch and husband, Bob, of Cartwright, Okla., and Betty Adams of Irving, Texas; two brothers, Walter Smith and wife, Flo, of Fort Worth, Texas, and John W. Smith of Blue Mountain; a sister, Lily Rowdy of Blue Mountain; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

JOHN C. ADAMS

PARAGOULD, Ark. - John C. Adams, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at his residence. He was born July 11, 1918, in Paden, Tishomingo County, Miss. He was lived in the Paragould and Jonesboro areas for the past 30 years. He was retired from Memphis Hardwood Floors and also worked in construction. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Roller-Farmers Funeral Home Union Chapel with Minister Victor Eskew officiating. Burial will be in the Crittenden Memorial Cemetery.

LUTHER ADAMS

GLEN - Luther Roy Adams, 69, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at his home. He graduated from Burnsville High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Community College. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. He retired from the State Health Department after 30 years, serving in both Alcorn and Tishomingo counties. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, treasurer, adult Sunday school teacher and song leader for many years. IUKA - Oma Launa Gray Adams, 86, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at her home in Chickasaw, Ala. She was born July 5, 1916, in Tishomingo County to the late Jessie and Myrtle Gray. She was a member of Chickasaw First Baptist Church, which she considered a great source of spiritual guidance and support during her 21 years as a widow.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Edward Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Ernest D. Adams Jr. and wife, Sharon, of San Antonio, Texas, and Tommy Adams and wife, Sherry, of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Oma Jean Adams and husband, James M. BOONEVILLE - Pauline Adams, 77, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at her residence after a long illness. She was a retired factory worker having worked many years at Marietta Manufacturing. She was a member of the Zion Rest Church of Christ and the widow of Jeff Adams.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Short and Bro. Ben Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Taylor and her husband, Gene, of Booneville; two sisters, Erma Dees of Booneville and Dorothy Hester of New Site; one brother, Floyd Calley of Marietta; three grandchildren, Jeanie Hoard, Christy McKinney and Anthony Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kryston and J. T. Hoard; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Rickey "Snuffy" Smith; a sister, Allie Brumley; and three brothers, Earnest Calley, Cecil Calley and John Calley.

BALDWYN - Robert "Red" Adams, 74, died Monday, July 17, 2001, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a retired employee of Daybrite Industries with 32 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Baldwyn and an Army veteran of World War. He enjoyed playing bluegrass music.

GOLDEN - Roy L. Adams, 56, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at his home. He was born June 30, 1947, in Itawamba County to Marvin C. and Lillybelle Allison Adams. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church for 27 years and a truck driver for 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

CORINTH - William Dean Adams, 48, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a Little League coach and a Boy Scout master for several years. He enjoyed writing and fishing, and he loved his family and friends.

W. C. Adams (Winifred Cooper) retired attorney at law of Corinth and a former president pro-tem of the Miss. State Senate, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Hospital here following an extended illness. He was 84.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Henry Cemetery in Corinth with the Rev. Paul H. Mattie officiating.

Mr. Adams was a WW I veteran, served in the Miss. Legislature from 1924 to 1936 and on numerous occasions was acting governor. He also was the first state commander of the American Legion in Miss.

Mr. Adams, an Episcopalian, was a former member of the Corinth Kiwanis Club & the Masonic Lodge. He attended Corinth schools and Princeton University. He earned his law degree from the Univ. of Miss. and began his practice of law in Corinth in 1910.

Mr. Adams leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Kirk Adams, 3 sons, Johnston Cooper Adams of Memphis; John Kirk Adams of Martinsville, Va.; and Wm. Shattuck Adams of Rosedale; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

CORINTH - Bertha Lee Betts Agnew, 84, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Hospital. She attended school at Saint Luke School and was a member of the Mason Saint Luke M.B. Church. While able, she was active in the Missionary Society and a member of the Stewardess Board at City Road CME Temple. She enjoyed cooking, canning and taking care of babies. She was a hard working and very loving woman who cared for others more than herself.

Services will be at noon Monday at City Road CME Temple with the Rev. Kenneth Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Zion Community Church. She was a member of the Senior Choir, a Sunday School member, Touch Group No. 4 and a member of the Missionary Society. She enjoyed visiting with friends and church family.

CORINTH - Freeman Michael Agnew, 54, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his home. He attended Carver Elementary School and Wick Anderson Junior High School, and graduated from Thrasher High School in 1971. He was employed with Wurlitzer Manufacturing and Pancho of Corinth. He was a member of Central Grove M. B. Church in Kossuth, where he was chairman of the Usher Board. He enjoyed all sports, and loved being with his family and friends.

BALDWYN - Joan Wilson Agnew, 73, of the Pratt community died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at her home. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women with a bachelor's degree. She was a retired schoolteacher and she also worked in the family business. She was a member of the Pratt Christian Church for more than 44 years.

BOONEVILLE - Sophia Lorena Akers, 101, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Landmark Nursing Home in Booneville. She was born July 12, 1903, in Prentiss County to the late William Pinkney and Emma Smith Akers. A retired schoolteacher, she taught at East Prentiss in Prentiss County, at Hickory Grove and Bassfield in south Mississippi, and at Ione, Hermiston and Lakeview in Oregon. She was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jackie Spencer and Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mackey's Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include seven nephews, Mickey Akers, Billy Akers, Robert Akers, Kenneth Akers, Jackie Akers, Sherman Akers and Travis Akers; 11 nieces, Winna Cunningham and Martha Crow, who were her caregivers, and Marie Middlebrooks, Betty Isbell, Myrtle Bridges, Annie Hood, Lela Frances Yarber, Janice Wheelington, Emma Bell Akers, Mary Ellen Day and Linda Clator.

CORINTH - Quitman Levi Agnew Sr., 94, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Alcorn County Rehab and Health Center. He attended school in Guntown and farmed in his early years. He retired from Corinth City Schools, where he served as custodian at the John Street Day Care Center. He was a dedicated member of the Methodist Men Association at City Road CME Church. He enjoyed farming and gardening with his mules, and raising chicken and ducks.

            BOONEVILLE ‑ Freddie Dale Akers, 62, died Tuesday, Nov 28, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. A native of Prentiss County, he was born April 29, 1938, to the late Eugene and Ena Pace Akers of the Burton community. He was a 1957 graduate of New Site High School. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C, and then for the postal service in Memphis, retiring in 1974 as a data technician. He was a Christian of the Free Will Baptist faith.

            Services will be at 2 P. M. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Clouse officiating. Burial will be in Little Brown Cemetery.

            Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Bettie Raye Smith Akers, whom he married May 27, 1961; one son, Sterling Dale Akers, and his wife, Jina, of Booneville; one brother, Jackie Akers, and his wife, Zula Diane, of Booneville; two sisters, Winna Cunningham, and Means Crow and her husband, Sylvester, all of New Site; three grandchildren, Emily, Evan and Elizabeth Akers of Booneville.

She was born Aug. 18, 1914 in Tishomingo County to Oscar Levi Hunt and Lillie Belle Oaks Hunt. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Marietta and the Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, reading, needlepoint and word puzzles.

Gladys Pearlie Akers, 99, of Baldwyn, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 23. Burial was in McNeal Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - Althea Cooper Van Akin, 91, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Corinth Health and Rehab after a long illness. She was a retired LPN and a member of the Methodist church in Oxford, Ga. She was the widow of Lewis Averette Van Akin. She enjoyed caring for and helping those in need.

BOONEVILLE - Murland Elav "Dot" Akins, 60, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Walnut to Herbert C. Davis and Zettie Wilbanks Davis. She was a Christian and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking.

Services were Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Scott officiating. Burial was in the Mormon Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Akins, whom she married Aug. 9, 1958; a son, Marvin Akins and wife, Bettye, of Booneville; a grandson, Josh Akins of Water Valley; a daughter-in-law, Janice Akins of Water Valley; six sisters.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Akins, in 1996.

BALDWYN - Charles Bruce Aldridge, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at his daughter's home in Tupelo after a long illness. He was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Baldwyn to the late Hugh Milton and Carrie Mae Ashmore Aldridge. He retired from Mid-South Packers after many years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Ingram Baptist Church in Baldwyn.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Wayne Fredrick will officiate, and Chris Aldridge will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.

            TISHOMINGO ‑ Ellis Greene Aldridge, 89, died Saturday. Aug. 8, 1990, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley alter a brief, illness. She was a member of Paden Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She graduated from Tishomingo High School, the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Ten­nessee years. She taught home economics for 33 years. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association having served as past president of the state chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota and was past president of Tishomingo County Chapter of Theta Conclave of Iuka

CHICOG, Wis. - Howard Hubert Aldridge, 57, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 1994, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Spooner, Wis. He was a native of Booneville and a former resident of Chicago, moving to Chicog, Wis., in 1982. He was a truck driver for Jerry Fraatz and a school bus driver. He most recently worked for the Maple Cooperative Gas Co. He was a member of the Minong-Wascott lions Club.

Services were Tuesday at the Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner, Wis., with the Rev. Bradley Novak, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Chicog Cemetery in Chicog, Wis.

The community was saddened on the 17th inst., by the announcement of the death of Mrs. Florence Alexander of this place. The deceased was ill but for a short time, and while her death was not altogether unexpected her many excellencies of character made the grief of her relatives and friends, none the less poignant. She leaves a husband and one child and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. Joseph Fugitt. The remains we] interred in the Booneville Cemetery after a funeral service at the home conducted by the Rev. E.A. Smith. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a devout Christian lady in the best sense of the word. The entire community join us in tendering sympathy and condolence to the bereaved relatives and friends.

ELGIN, Ill. - Illinois Alexander, 66, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at his home in Elgin. He was born July 5, 1937, in Corinth to Oscar and Ardine Miller Alexander. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1966, and had been employed by U.S. Can as a lithographer before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was affiliated with Manifold Mercy Christian Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James A.M.E. Church, 1100 Summitt Street, Elgin, Illinois with the Rev. Michael McCall officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ohio Alexander.

DRY CREEK - J.R. Alexander, 83, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a carpenter and roofer, and had worked for Deviney Construction Company. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He loved his children and grandchildren.

CORINTH - Mae Helen Alexander, 59, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at her daughter's home. For many years she was an employee of the Care Inn and the James Mitchell Shirt Factory.

IUKA - Funeral services for Marie Aldridge, 61, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Ludlams Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Howard Stafford, Reuben Massey and Johnny Nunley officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Iuka.

Ms. Aldridge died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Pruitt, William (Peanut) Aldridge and David (Hopper) Aldridge, all of Iuka; four daughters, Janice Hicks of Iuka, Shelia Miles of Iuka, Frankie Henson of Iuka and Martha Sue Miller of Danville, Ala.; three brothers, J. R. Williams, Lloyd Williams and Floyd Williams, all of Iuka; two sisters, Margaret Potts of Burnsville and Helen Williams of Iuka; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maggie Mae Williams, and a granddaughter, Addie Barrett.

BOONEVILLE - Monroe Curtis Aldridge, 80, died Monday, Jan. 10, 1994, at the Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired employee of the Miss. Highway Dept., a Mason and a Baptist.

BOONEVILLE - Reba Cromeans Aldridge, 82, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a brief illness. She was a factory worker and a member of East Booneville Baptist Church. She had been a longtime member of East Prentiss Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening.

NEW SITE - Roy Aldridge, 89, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Booneville Baptist Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and a member and deacon of East Prentiss Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

Thomas Shelton "Bud" Aldridge, 95, of Booneville; died Friday Nov. 30, 2001, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center after an extended illness.

Services were Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at East Prentiss Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Johnson and Bro. Steve Holiday officiating. Burial was in East Prentiss Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Aldridge was a retired factory worker and a farmer. He was a charter member of East Prentiss Baptist Church and a Mason. H loved flowers and gardening.

He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Brasel and her husband, Hubert, of Booneville; one son, Hoyt Aldridge and his wife Dora, of Chillicothe, Ohio; a son-in-law, James Hoard of Booneville; a sister-in-law, Reba Aldridge of Booneville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Audra McClun Aldridge and Flora England Aldridge; four sisters and five brothers; two daughters, Jeanette Hoard and Juanita Aldridge.

REV. PETER ALEXANDER

Rev. Peter Alexander built legacy continues that to thrive. Two communities in northern  Tishomingo County represent thee sense of community and tradition  that is an important element of  African-American Heritage though divided by a flow of water called  Carter's Branch, the communities of Canter's  Branch and Petertown. at the eastern border of Tishomingo County and the Alabama state line on  County Road 958 and the Natchez Trace, are inextricably woven in their history aril the families who sustain them. Current and former residents of the community who have worked to document area history estimate there are about 90 families with roots in the communities.

Rev. Peter ties who have 1801 worked to document area history estimate there are about 9O families with roots in the communities.  The area was settled by the Rev. Peter Alexander, who was bona in 1801 into slavery in Nashville, and lived to be 103 years old.  “Peter Alexander had 640 acres of property that extended front Carter's Branch (stream) east to the Alabama state line,” said great-granddaughter, Viola Alexander, who lived in Carter s Branch community. Peter Alexander married avid fathered two children, but was sold away front them to the Alexander family near Bishop, Ala., in about 1840. “At his new dwelling as a handyman about the house and somewhat of an overseer of the plantation,” reads a family biography. “Because of his alertness and overall usefulness, lie was taught to read and write by members of the household, the slave law to the contrary not withstanding.”

Emancipation gave Peter Alexander the resources to Alexander move just across 1904, the state line into Mississippi, where he purchased a whole section of land, 640 acres, which he occasionally added to later. “Sonic of that land went to family members, but the rest was sold in lots for homes,” Viola Alexander said. Preserving family Viola aril Onnie A. Alexander have become the family genealogists, tracing the families of the 11 children horn of his second marriage to Mary Alexander (1825 to 1888).” “There are six branches, of the family that are not complete, and were researching to find them now,” Onnie V. Alexander said. “There are some in Arkansas, Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. We know where they are but the problem is we don't know which ones of the children they belong to. “The children of Peter and Mary Alexander are: Samuel, Frona, Eady, Parmelia, Harriet Mann, Joseph, Soloman, Perry, Peter Jr., Parilee and Richardson. Viola and Onnie V. Alexander's father, Roddie Alexander, was the grandson of Joseph Alexander. Along the way, Peter Alexander had become a minister.

He originally organized Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Allsboro, Ala. He later founded Carter's Branch Baptist Church out of the need to have a church closer to honk, and was its first pastor. Another church St. Peter Baptist Church was organized biter and named in his honor. The two churches were initially organized through a Baptist Association in Alabama. “Though Carter's Branch M. B. Church switched its affiliation to a Mississippi association, St. Peter M. B. Church continues to be part of the Alabama organization.

CORINTH - Shirley D. Alexander, 44, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She attended Corinth High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College. She was employed with Corinth Machinery and Magnolia Regional Health Center. She enjoyed working at her church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Word Outreach Christian Center with Pastor Elworth Mabry officiating. Burial will be in the Rienzi Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Alexander Jr.; her mother, Louise Justice; two sons, Antonio Gerome Justice and LaPaul DeBarrus Justice, both of Corinth; a daughter, Aziah Alexander of Corinth; five brothers, Lawrence (Barbara) Justice of Jackson, Tenn., Ken (Annie) Holland of Paducah, Ky., and Tony (Paulette) Justice, Willie Justice and Derek Holland, all of Corinth; four sisters, Rosie Holland of Atlanta, Ga., Regina (Rosco) Patterson of Corinth, and Lisa White and Melanie White, both of Memphis; three grandchildren, Malik Justice, Lanayia Justice and Bralone Justice.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Aurthor Justice and Effie Garner.

BOONEVILLE - Verner Franklin Alford, 60, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his home in Booneville. He was a truck driver and a farmer. He was a Methodist.

Services were Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the John E. Stephens Chapel in Philadelphia with the Rev. Earl McAnally officiating. Burial was in Sandtown United Methodist Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Skaggs Alford of Booneville; two sons, James Holley of Aberdeen and Tim Holley of Hamilton; his mother, Lavurn Alford of Philadelphia; five sisters, Chelsea Kilgore of Jackson, Clara Sullivan of Philadelphia, Thresa Martin and Edna Earl Simpson, both of Pearl, and Patsy Brown of Flora; three brothers, Robert Alford, Charles Alford and Dale Alford, all of Philadelphia; six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

ACKER ALLEN

WHEELER - Acker Allen, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at his residence in the Wheeler community after an extended illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Union County. He was a retired mechanic that specialized in farm and industrial equipment repair. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a Deacon for over 42 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Cossey and Bro. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Clara Mae Allen of Wheeler; one daughter, Linda Farrar and her husband, Wade, of Guntown; one son, James Allen and his wife, Ann, of Baldwyn; seven grandchildren, Jeff Allen, Jennifer Chauvin, Greg Allen, Michael Allen, Brian Baker, Kim Booker and Tim Farrar; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Allen; three brothers, Lawrence Allen, Boyd Allen and Earnest "Buck" Allen; and one sister, Frances Sappington.

BOONEVILLE - Bluford Allen, 70, died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. He was a retired schoolteacher. He was a former chancery clerk for Prentiss County and a former member of the Booneville Board of Aldermen. He was a member of Gaston Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Parman and the Rev. Joe Herndon officiating. Buri:d will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Adraine Howell Allen of Booneville; one daughter, Betty Lynn Moore of Golden; one son, Jerry Allen of Booneville; two grandchildren.

BELMONT - Conrad Allen, 65, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Pogo, Alabama. He was born June 25, 1939, in Prentiss County. He was a surveyor and carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Belmont City Cemetery with Bro. Jack Maroon and Bro. Pariah Hartley officiating. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene Allen, 78, of Michie, Tenn., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Acton, Tenn., with burial in Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth.

Mr. Allen was a 32nd degree Mason, Selmer Lodge #743. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a member of North Corinth Baptist Church in Corinth. He was the widower of Minnie Tate Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bertha Allen.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gilda Walden of Booneville, Mrs. Karen Allen of Corinth and Mrs. Teresa Moore of Michie, Tenn.; a son, Randy Allen of Michie, Tenn.; four sisters, Dr. Lorayne Carlisle of Hixson, Tenn., Mrs. Verda Woodall and Mrs. Mildred Killian, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Helen Hollingsworth of Cookeville, Tenn.; two brothers, Raymond Allen of Trenton, Ga., and Rayford Allen of Scottsboro, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

CORINTH - Harold "Dennis" Allen, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church and the Stateroom Committee. He was a former employee of the Wurlitzer Company in Corinth. He loved his family and friends, and enjoyed doing woodwork and his garden and yard.

CORINTH - James "Willie" Allen, 75, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at his home. He was an employee of Corinth Used Parts for 30 years and a Baptist. He enjoyed working and being with his family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Bro. Warren Jones will officiate, and Leroy Brown will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marsha Ginn Allen of Corinth; three daughters, Freda Allen and Linda Howard, both of Corinth, and Becky Bobo of Ripley; five grandchildren, Michael and Shena Isbell, Christy and Duran Clement, and Megan and Matt Tucker, all of Corinth, Brandon and Amy Benson, and Josh Benson, all of Ripley; three great-grandchildren, Casey Isbell, Anna Benson and Carley Clement; a brother, Edward Allen and wife, Karen, of Corinth; a sister, Annie Laura Eller of Elyria, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Allen and Lillie Mae Bostick; his stepfather, F.A. Bostick; two brothers, Roland Allen and Clearence Allen; and a son-in-law, Garry D. Bobo.

JOE L ALLEN

BOONEVILLE ‑ Joe L Allen, 59, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at the Booneville Hospital after a sudden ill­ness. He was the owner and operator of Allen Construction far more than 30 years. He was a member of Booneville Church of Christ. He enjoyed quail hunting.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Booneville Church of Christ with Min­ister Doug Greenway and Minister J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Allen Family Cemetery on the Allen farm. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife. Jane Reed Allen of Booneville; one daugh­ter, Kim Williams, and her husband, Ralph, of Booneville; me sons, Eddie Joe Allen and his wife, Lisa, and Trent Allen, all of Booneville; two sis­ters, Peggy Bates and her husband, Carl, and Auto Johnson and her hus­band, Charles, all of Booneville; five grandchildren, Misty Allen, Amanda Allen, Jennifer Allen, Katie Williams and John David Williams.

GUNTOWN - Leona Bryant Allen, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at the home of her niece after a long illness. She was a retired employee of Blue Bell and a member of Ingram Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Wallace Pannell and Bro. Don Reed officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Survivors include a special niece, Gloria Newman of Baldwyn; numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest "Buck" Allen; two sons, Gerald Allen and Tony Allen; and a sister, Anna Lou Morgan.

MARY ALLEN

CORINTH - Mary Lee Crum Bullard Allen, 86, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born March 15, 1919, in Alcorn County to Johnny and Ada Hancock Crum. She was a retired garment factory worker and a member of Pleasant Hill Pentecostal Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corinthian Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Old Danville Cemetery at Rienzi.

Survivors include a stepson, Tommy Bullard of Harlingen, Texas; two daughters, Wanda Culver and husband, Joel, of Corinth, and Jeanette Sumrall and husband, Troy, of Iuka; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, James Thomas Bullard and Lawerance Allen.

Pallbearers will be Brad Turner, Jeff Houstan, David Franks and Zack Franks.

Tylar Franks will be an honorary pallbearer.

MRS. MATTIE CLAYTON ALLEN

Born June 6, 1841

Died in Iuka, Miss, Feb. 13, 1924

At four o'clock on the afternoon of Feb. 13, 1924, after a lingering illness the subject of this tribute, Mrs. Mattie Clayton Allen of Iuka, Miss., was summoned by the death angle [sic] to Pisgah's heights, not only to look over, but to pass over to the beautiful beyond, the land of promise to all who have loved and served the Master as she has long done. The writer was not privileged to be at the bedside of this good woman during her sickness or passing away, but her resignation and words of comfort, as told by her children and other loved ones, assured us- her friends who knew her best - that she was as our beloved late President Woodrow Wilson said of himself "ready for the charge". Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Col. and Mrs. R. B. Clayton, pioneer settlers of Mississippi, and contemporaries with quiet [sic] a few of our grandparents who pitched their tents in the 30's and 40's almost all of whom lived to a ripe old age, and did much for the uplift and betterment of their new state in those days and in the years that followed.

Col. and Mrs. Clayton did a large part in the building of the First Presbyterian Church, erected in Baldwyn, their hometown, of which Mrs. Allen, together with seven sisters and one brother, were members until they either moved away or were called to their reward. Although Mr. And Mrs. Allen moved to luka, Miss., more than thirty years ago, yet her love for the old home church was not lessened and she was a great up lift to us both spiritually and in a finantial [sic] way. In her younger days the walls of the church, and alike the drawing room echoes with the melodies of her voice, for but few possessed such gift of songs as she had or loved more to use it for her Masters glory than did she.

In the year 1866 she was married to Robert Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Allen, and to them were born eight children, three of whom, together with Mr. Allen, passed away twenty and more years ago.

The remaining five, three daughters and two sons, in time married congenial companions and they, together with twelve grandchildren and great grandchildren, three generations were permitted to be at her bedside during her illness and death and delighted to minister to her wants and to make her last days as free from pain as it was possible for human hearts and hands to do. A tribute well worthy of dutiful children to the loving Christian mother that she was.

BOONEVILLE ‑ Rachel Sanders Allen, 82, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998. at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born June 16. 1916. in Marietta to Leonard H. and tuna Harris Sanders She was a retired school lecher, teaching at Thrasher far many years. She served in the U. S. military as a WAAC during World War II. She was an active member of the Booneville Church of Christ, where she served as a Sun­day School teacher and a teacher of the ladies Tuesday morning Bible class for many years She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.

Services will be at 3 lam today at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with Min­isters Doug Greenway and J. A. Thornton officiating Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, June Casper and her husband. Don. and Paula Wanner and her husband, Rick, all of Booneville; one son, Ron­nie Allen of Memphis. two brothers. John Sanders of Booneville, and Joe Sanders and his wife, Wanda, of Senatobia: seven grandchildren; me great‑grandchildren

REMELL ALLEN

RIENZI - Remell Allen, 78, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born May 4, 1924, in Tishomingo County to the late Harry and Menda Thomas. She and her husband owned and operated Allen Grocery in Rienzi for many years. She was a member of the Rienzi Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daniel Holloway officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Michael Martin of Rienzi and Suzzane Spain of Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Nicole Stephens and Todd Rhodes, both of Rienzi; one great-great-grandchild, Dylon Stephens; her son-in-law, Ronnie Martin of Rienzi.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Little, Johnny Allen, Jerry Allen, Charlie Cole, James Ward Taylor and Ray Massengill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. "C. C." Allen; her parents; a daughter, Joan Martin; a sister, Lorell Gattis; and a brother, Ezell Thomas.

ROY ALLEN

BOONEVILLE - Roy Lee Allen, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. He was born Nov. 12, 1912, in Alcorn County to Lora D. Allen and Ella Parvin Allen. He was a retired barber and a member of the Danville Church of Christ. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and, in his later years; taking care of cattle on the family farm.

Services' will be' at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Minister I. A. Thornton and Minister Charles Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Allen and wife, Christi, of Booneville, and Jerry Allen and wife, Wanda, of Hornsby, Tenn.; a sister, Lorene Adkin son of Racine, Wis.; two grandchildren, Jessica Allen and John Allen.

He as preceded in death by his wife, Marie S. Allen, in 1990; and four brothers, Terry Allen, William Allen, Clarence Allen and Sam Allen.

Pallbearers will be Ed Benjamin, I David Hickman, Jack Allen, Eamie Allen, Barry Rinehart and Bill McGrew.

Sidney W. Allen Suddenly

Sidney W. Allen of Booneville, died suddenly at his home at 2 p.m. He was born in Lee County and had resided in Prentiss County for a number of years. He was a retired paint contractor and retired Pentecostal Preacher, and was 76 years of age. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the East Pentecostal Church with the Mr. Miller and Rev. George Nettleton officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Lee County with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge.

He leaves his wife Mrs. Verenda Allen; a son, James H. Allen, of Memphis; four daughters, Mrs. Gandy of Plantersville, Miss., Jewel Whitlock of Okolona, Ms. and Mrs. Rush Nicholson of

Tupelo and Mrs. Helen Ledbetter of Memphis; two brothers Millard Allen of Jackson, Tenn., and Robert H. Allen of Glen, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Johns of Corinth, and N. E. Neeley of Bond, Tx. 13 grandchildren, and 20 great children.

Pallbearers were Joe Allen Gandy, Ted Gandy, Billy Whitlock, Sidney Whitlock, Jimmy Nicholson and J. L Gore.

CORINTH - Thelma Ruth Allen, 68, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Death of W. S. Allen

Last week we noted that Spencer Allen was nearing life's end. Monday evening the summons came, and the spirit flew away to the Master who gave it. He was about 62 years old and for the past twenty years has been a familiar figure on the streets of Baldwyn, sitting in his chair, calmly smoking and perhaps dreaming of the happy days of his boyhood, when he was free from affliction. He was born in Virginia and came to this county with his parents in December, 1839, when quite young. At the breaking out of the Civil War he enlisted as a Private in the Mississippi Regiment, Co. E. Calhoun Guards. Afterwards he was selected First Lieutenant, and later was elected Captain. He was wounded at the battle of Sharpsburg, which caused the loss of a leg. For twenty years he has suffered other afflictions which kept increasing in severity until the end, causing him untold agony, yet he bore them patiently, and was, when not undergoing suffering, always jovial and pleasant, with a cheerful word for everyone that passed. He was a member of the Christian Church for many years before his death, and when not detained by providential hindrances, was always in his accustomed seat when services were held to the bereaved relatives and friends we extend our sincerest sympathies.

J. C. Kincannon of Verona has announced as Candidate for Railroad Commissioner. Clayton is one of our Lee County boys of whom we all feel justly proud. Honest, capable and efficient, coupled with the fact that he is a true, courteous, polished gentleman, makes him peculiarly fitted for the custodian of the people's money. Should he be elected we are sure he will give his best effort towards managing the affairs of the office in a manner satisfactory to the people of the entire state.

Services For John Allison Held Sunday

Funeral services for John Allison of Magnolia Drive, Booneville were conducted Sunday afternoon in the New Bethel Baptist Church at Belmont with Bros. H. O. Sparks, C. L. Seagers and J. C. Cook officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Allison passed away Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Northeast Miss. Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Savannah, Tenn., and had spent the past 57 years in Belmont. Mr. Allison, a member of the New Bethel Church, was a retired farmer. He was 91.

He leaves three daughters, Mrs. L. A. Slayton and Mrs. Edna Russell of Booneville and Mrs. E. L. Borden of Tishomingo; a brother, Jasper Allison of Haleyville, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Cosby of Allsbore, Ala.; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE - Gordon Leon Allred, 80, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Lee County. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic and a member of Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and going to junk sales and auctions.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Lambert and Bro. Jimmy Childers officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Reece Allred, whom he married March 2, 1946; a son, Larry Allred and wife, Janice, of Booneville; five daughters, Sylvia Oldham and husband, Ronnie, of Florence, Ala., Edith Moore, Dorthy Dykes and husband, Jerry, all of Booneville, Linda Mayben and husband, Bill, of Tremont, and Brenda Hogue of Corinth; a brother, Henry Allred and wife, Leaner, of Lepanto, Ark.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Cathie, Mary, Linda and Samuel of Heritage Hospice, and Joe Shaw.

He was preceded in dath by a brother, Uburn Allred; a sister, Lear Griffith; two grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Harold Moore.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Moore, Dewayne Hogue, Bobby Lynn Allred, David Hogue, Terry Allred, Elvis Allred and Jeffrey Allred.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Leonard Pratt, Kevin Strickland, J.T. Beard and Perry Edge.

HUGH THOMAS "HUGHBO" ALLRED

Hugh Thomas "Hughbo" Allred, 91, of New Albany, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 14.

Burial was in Glenfield Memorial Park.

Local survivors include a daughter, Joyce Peters of Baldwyn.

JOHNNY DEE ALLRED

            Johnny Dee Allred, 69, of Amory, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Gibson Gen­eral Hospital in Trenton, Tenn.

            Funeral ser­vices were held Thursday, March 22. Burial was in Hatley Cemetery.

            Local survivors include a daughter, Carla K. Stevens of Booneville.

BALDWYN ‑ Lora Bell Allred, 82, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Life Care Center in Bruce­ton, Tenn. She was a Baptist.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Martin Jacks officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Gardens in Booneville.

Survivors include one daughter, Oneta Brackeen of Guntown; three sisters, Flora Crafton of Corinth, Mae Conway of Pickers and Ora Warren of Osceola, Ark.; one brother. CORINTH - Laura Kemp Alvardo, 35, died Monday, May 17, 2004, in Dallas, Texas. She was a fashion hair designer and the owner of Let's Face It in Dallas.
