The Norvell Robertson Chapter was founded 17 April 1961, named for Patriot Norvell Robertson, Pvt. in the Virginia State Militia.
Norvell Robertson enlisted, July 1781, serving at Yorktown building the protective breastworks against the British; he was discharged there the day Lord Cornwallis surrendered. He moved to Georgia, then continued westward until reaching Mississippi, in 1818.
The John Dodd Society of the Children of the American Revolution was founded in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in April 1943, by Norvell Robertson Chapter's founding regent.
