CLINE
I am searching for information on CLINE, Daniel Wilson , my maternal grandfather. Daniel was born in Macon, Mississippi, March 5, 1860. He moved to Washington County, Texas with his parents at an unknown date. It is believed that Daniel married twice. There was a son born of the first marriage to "Katie" named Walter. Daniel remarried on January 20, 1885 to Sadie Ophelia "Sallie" BLYTHE in Brenham, Texas. Children of this marriage were: Mattie, Ruth Ophelia, Fred Marion, Roland, Lee, Clarence "Chauncie" C. and Maud Marie, my mother. In Brenham the family, specifically Sallie, is known to have been a member of The First Baptist Church. Daniel's family may have moved to Burleson County in the late 1800's where Sallie was a member of the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church. Sallie was restored as a member of the First Baptist Church in March 1890. The family moved to Dallas by wagon in 1900 after the 1900 hurricane blew the top of their house off. Other surnames acquired by marriage of children are: PATRICK, STEVENSON and LOHMAN. Sallie and Daniel died in Dallas, Texas on January 7, 1931 and February 18, 1943 respectively. Both are buried in Dallas. If you have any questions or information please contact John Lohman in San Antonio, Texas. [email protected]

HUNTER
When we were in Nuxobee Co. a few years ago, we discovered an area of the county called HORSE HUNTER PRAIRIE and a creek called HORSE HUNTER CREEK. HARDY "HORSE" HUNTER was my gggrandfather. We know that he owned 80 acres prior to 1830 and that by 1831 he was in Arkansas. He married a daughter of Benjamin Clark, Sr. and one of his daughters married my ggrandfather JAMES REASON WEATHERS. Is there anybody (perhaps a descendant) who could help us put some meat and blood on the bones of statistics? The stats were not too hard to locate, but finding something to tell us what kind of a person he was, etc. has slammed us against a stone wall.

KOGER
1838-1840 - Joseph Koger - Direct Index to Deeds, Book B, pages 138 & 139, Conveyance, from Massachusetts & Alabama Land Company. Would like to know connection of Joseph Koger, land agent, to Joel Pinson, attorney in Pontotoc County, who was administrator for estates of John Stephens, Jr., d 1844, and John Richard Senior, d 1849. Records show that Joel Pinson sent John Smith to see Mary Brown (granddaughter of John, Sr., daughter of David Brown, a surveyor in Texas), and Koger in Noxubee. This was one day prior to John Smith's going on into Texas to pay taxes on 3 leagues of Stephens land. This was in March 1849. Did the Massachusetts & Alabama Land Company also have offices in Benton County, Ala and in Laurens, S.CIndications are that it did! With whom did they deal in those states, and also in Texas?  Reference to this family story can be found in the March 1997 Issue of The Northeast Mississippi Historical and Genealogical Society QUARTERLY. It's a fascinating story!
