James Knox Polk STOVALL
d. Mar. 13, 1912

Mr. J.P. Stovall, an old resident of the 4th district, died at his home near Plantersville the past week.  Mr. Stovall had been in his usual health and during the morning had visited several neighbors.  Returning home he was assisting his grand son in sawing wood, when he fell to the ground and immediately expired.  Mr. Stovall was a member of Col. Stone's regiment, the Second Miss., and was in all the principal battles fought by the Virginia army.  He bore an honorable record as a soldier.  He was a deacon in the Presbyterian church and one of the leading  citizens of the county.
