Wm. Scott was born in South Carolina November 11, 1832; moved to Mississippi when he was young; lived a short time in Pontotoc county; then settled near Bethany, where he has since lived; married Miss Martha Bryson, a sister of our well known townsman, R.A. Bryson*, in 1859; departed this life Tuesday, April 4, and was laid to rest in Bethany Cemetery Wednesday, 5th , inst, in presence of a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. Rev. J.L. This announcement through the Hot Times is the first news we had of the death [of] Mr. Scott. This announcement will be received with regret by his many friends throughout the county. For many years Mr. Scott was a leading figure in the affairs of his community and County and his passing away will be universally regretted. His bereaved family have our sympathy in their bereavement.
