Belle Scott Obituary Submitted by Nancy Bell "Mrs. S.A. Scott Dies At Baldwyn" "The death of Mrs. S.A. Scott at Baldwyn Sunday morning brought much sadness to the many friends of this beloved woman. Mrs. Scott had been in declining health for several years and suffered an attack of Pneumonia Saturday, bringing the end within a few hours. Mrs. Scott was about 75 years of age and had spent most of her life in the Bethany and Baldwyn communities. She was the daughter of the late Prof. West, who was a pioneer teacher in that section. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church and much loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a devoted wife and mother. Funeral services were held in the home of her son, Roger Scott, Monday morning and a large number came to pay her a tribute of love. Her pastor, Rev. W.C. McCay had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. Mr. Boyce of the Presbyterian church and Rev. C.W. Barnes, of the Baptist church. At the conclusion of the services her body was carried to Bethany and tenderly laid to rest in the historic Brice's Cross Roads cemetery, by the side of her father, who passed on many years ago. The floral offerings were profuse and most beautiful attesting the high esteem in which the deceased was held by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her aged husband, Sam A. Scott, one son Roger, who is the TVA manager for Prentiss County, and a daughter, Miss Ruby, who holds a good position in Humboldt, Tenn. A brother, Phillip West, of Laredo, Texas and a sister, Mrs. Emma Cochran, of Pontotoc, also survive. The Independent joins in extending the deepest sympathy to the sorrowing relatives in the passing of this splendid woman. Among those from Booneville attending the funeral services were Messrs. S.S. Sargent, E.E. Long, Roy Bonds, W.A. Epps, E.T. Miller, Dr. J.M. Stanley, Roger Stanley, and W.G. Anderson."
Sam and Belle Scott had the following children:
