Grover Cleveland "Cleve" EVANS

G.C. (Cleve) Evans, lifelong resident and farmer in the Union community south of Plantersville, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday at  Community Hospital of a stroke.  He was 73.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Union Methodist Church with the Rev. Crawford Ray and the Rev. J.I. Berryhill officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge.

Mr. Evans had suffered a stroke five days ago.  Following treatment, he was dismissed from the hospital Saturdsay, but suffered another stroke at his home about 6:30 a.m. Sunday and was again rushed to the hospital.

He was a trustee of the Union Methodist Church and an elder in the Union Presbyterian Church, having also served as finance committee chairman when the latter church was rebuilt several years ago.  He was married on Jan. 31, 1911 in Pontotoc to Miss. Betty Dodson. Mr. Evans leaves his wife; a son, James Evans of Union; and two
grandchildren.
