The Lafayette County Historical and Genealogical Society was founded in 1967 as the Skipwith Historical and Genealogical Society. The Society is housed in the Lafayette County and Oxford Public Library in Oxford, Mississippi. The mailing address is P. O. Box 1382, Oxford, MS 38655.
The Society is a non-profit organization, whose purpose is to seek, collect, preserve and disseminate information
about Lafayette County, Mississippi and the families who have
resided here.
Dues are $12 per calendar
year. Checks may be sent to the
secretary, Frank Walker, P. O. Box 1382, Oxford, MS 38655. Members receive an informative newsletter every quarter.

The Society has
suspended our usual every other month meetings during the Covid
pandemic. The Genealogy Room at the library is staffed most
afternoons to support our members. The meetings are usually held at the public library at 2:30 p. m. on the third Sunday of the month.
