Services were held at ten o'clock Thursday morning in the Carmel Baptist church for Mrs W Jesse King, resident of the Carmel community. Mrs King died on the night of November 1 in the King's Daughter's Hospital in Brookhaven where she had been a patient nine days. She was fifty-nine.
Rev Wallace H Whatley, pastor of the Carmel Baptist church conducted the services and was assisted by Rev James E King, pastor of the New Hope Baptist church, and Rev E E Hedgepeth, pastor of the Riverside Baptist church. E V Catt and W H Nelson sang "Abide With Me" with Mrs W G Biggers accompanying.
Mrs King was buried in the Carmel church cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home of Prentiss in charge. Nephews served as pall bearers.
Mrs King was a member of the Carmel Baptist church. Before her marriage, she was Miss Mary Eliza Cox.
She leaves her husband, W Jesse King; three daughters, Mrs Arlin Smith, Monticello; Mrs Harold Watts, Ruth; Mrs Clyde Magee, Monticello; two sons, Alton King and Roy King, both of Monticello and thirteen grandchildren.
