Chocchuma

In 1835 the town of Chocchuma sprang up in the great land rush. This busy little town had a saloon, three hotels and numerous other business. In addition there were five boarding houses to accomodate prospective land buyers who were flocking to the area. In 1842 the land office was relocated elsewhere, and Chocchuma gradually died out.
 

Tuscahoma

Tuscahoma was incorporated as a town in 1836. It was the second largest town in Grenada at that time. Tuscahoma was founded by James Girault.   The town had several business, including a hotel (The Wayside Inn), a saloon, and a ferry.   The town newspaper "The Tuscahomian" was in publication in 1835.  The town was virtually deserted by 1842, although the ferry continued in operation well after the end of the civil war.
