The final quarterly 2009 meeting for the Calhoun County
Historical Society was held on November 8th at the

A discussion about the future closure of The Monitor-Herald led to the formation of a committee to see about the feasibility of closing in the back porch at The Dennis Murphree House to make additional room for storage and workspace. The house is open by appointment for genealogical research.
The 2009 slate of officers were re-elected for 2010 along with the same board members.
Lee and Bubba Jenkins, accompanied by Carlyn Jenkins presented a very informative program about the Boy Scouts. Lee had prepared notes about the many aspects of Boy Scouts duties and then Bubba related some background/history information that was well received.
Dues of $15 for 2010 are now being received. The meetings
are open to the public and meet on the 2nd Sunday of January, March,
September and November at
