Hendley Cemetery

Transcribed and submitted by  Brenda

I went in to the Hendley cemetery in the late 1980's in my car but Weyerhaeuser was in there cutting trees at the time and had a pretty good road going in off of 9W at Providence Church. I came out on a different little road looking to see what I could find but didn't see anything. I had always heard the Hendley cemetery called the Old Big Rock Cemetery and the road that used to run from the old water tank off of 331 to 9W at Providence was called the Old Big Rock Road. According to my Dad, it ran from Sarepta to Water Valley when he was a little boy.

died February 23, 1900 Nancy and A. J. were living next door to Bob and Neithie Prewett in 1880.

There are several rocks marking graves. Jehu Prewett is supposely buried beside his first wife and a child that died at birth but there are no records to verify this. Nancy W. Webb is related to the Prewett's but I have not made the connection. She is thought to be the daughter of Wilson Mize.
