If you have family photos connected to Vernon County, Missouri that you cannot identify, please send them in to be posted here -- perhaps another research can identify the people or has the same picture with the peoples' names written on it.  Include what surnames might be connected with each picture you send and any other information that could possibly help another researcher identify them. (300 to 600 dpi jpg files are preferred)

If you can identify any of the people in a photo, please email the information to the County Coordinator so it can be included on the website--be sure to include the number of the photo being identified. If photos can be identified, they will then be moved to the Biographies section where additional details can be added about the family.

1.  Tintype picture of lady, about 1870's, possibly connected to the Caton, Selim, or Thomas families of Vernon County.  Submitted by NThompson.

2.  Lady possibly connected to the Thompson, Shearburn, or Feller families of Vernon County.  Submitted by NThompson.

3.  This photo postcard was sent from Lilla (Overstreet) Caton to her son, William S. Caton, probably in the 1920s.  The house might be that of Elizabeth (Westfall) Caton, and she might be one of the women in the picture.  Submitted by Nancy Caton.

4.  This is a very large photo taken by Whipple Studio in Nevada, MO.  This picture was taken on the steps of the then new Post Office at the corner of West Cherry and North Ash Streets. This building, now vacant, was most recently the Sheriff's office.  Note that this is the main entrance with lampposts and majestic columns on the south side of the building (W. Cherry Street), and the building had revolving doors at the time.  These may be the postal workers at the time this Post Office was built.  Can you help identify these men?  Click for a close-up of the men's faces.  Submitted by Lyndon Irwin.

5.  This photograph was found at a postcard show in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  The photo was taken by C. E. Foster in Nevada, Missouri.  Who do you think this looks like?  Submitted by Lyndon Irwin.

6.  Photo is possibly the May or Kauffman family in the early 1900s in Vernon County, MO.  Family members are buried in Virgil Cemetery located on the Vernon/Cedar County line.  Please contact me if anyone knows who is in this picture.  Submitted by dalex96@aol.com.

7.  Send a photo to be displayed here!
