Springfield, MO - Verna E.  “Cook” Beck, 83, Springfield, died at 10:59 p.m. Thursday in St. John’s Regional Health Center.

She was a retired Registered Nurse and a graduate of the Old Springfield, Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by two sisters, Flossie Thompson, Aurora, Mo., and Bonnie Raper, Springfield; four nephews, James, Max, and Roger Raper, Springfield, and Dennis Thompson, Pittsburg, Pa.; and one niece, Maryan Smith, Springfield. She was preceded in death by a niece, Ila Lee Thompson, Aurora, Mo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Klinger Chapel with Rev. Charles Holt officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
