LIFE OF MRS. JOHN KING
Lapwai Lady of  77, in Nez Perce County 20 Years

Nancy Caroline LANGSTON WATKINS KING died on 25 Feb 1923 in Lapwai, Nez Perce County, Idaho.  Her obituary appeared in the Lewiston (Idaho) Morning Tribune (article not dated, 1923 handwritten on it). 

To the Tribune:  The following is a brief account of the life, death and burial of Mrs. John S. King:  Nancy Caroline Langston was born in Stone County, Missouri, Dec. 25, 1846, being 77 years and two months old when she quietly passed into the great beyond, Sunday morning, Feb. 25, at 15 minutes of 12 o'clock. 

She had been confined to her bed for five months before her death but through it all she manifested a heroic spirits of  patience.  She was a resident of Nez Perce County for 22 years coming to the west in 1899. 

She was united in marriage to John King, Jan. 16, 1872, this being 51 years ago.  She was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive her: Mrs. Mary Catherine Eggert and Mrs. Lillian Thompson of Sweetwater, Jessie L. King and Charles King of Lapwai, and George F. King of Noxon, Mont.  She has a brother, Henry J. Langston, in Oklahoma. 

The funeral service was held at the Culdesac community church on last Monday, the Rev. F.W. Nugen, pastor of the Methodist church of South Sweetwater, conducting the service.  Interment was in the Culdesac Cemetery. 

We wish to thank our many friends for their kindly help and sympathy during this time of sorrow and the loss of our wife and mother.
