CYNTHIA JOHNSTON

WIFE OF LOCAL MERCHANT DIES
Had Been an Invalid for Number of Years and Passed Away on 67th Birthday

Mrs. Cynthia Johnston, wife of C. Johnston, local merchant, died at her home here, Saturday evening.  It was her birthday.

Mrs. Johnston had been an invalid for many years, but the cause of her death was an attack of pneumonia and jaundice.

She was born in Richland, ILL, January 19th, 1862 (Daughter of Aaron Wm. and Eliza J. Haynes-Osborn) , and came to Missouri in 1882, when she was married to Mr. Johnston, ( in Chariton Co. MO) the marriage occurring on Mrs. Johnston's 20th birthday.

She and Mr. Johnston were the parents of 12 children, nine of whom are living and who are; Arthur Johnston, Decatur ILL; Earl Johnston, Dayton, O.; Jim Johnston, Sapulpa, Okla.; Walter Johnston, Larned, Kan.; William Johnston Detroit, Kan; Mrs. Elsie Plummer, Topeka, Kan. Mrs. Cora Hipshire, Lebo, Kan.; Mrs. Pearl Bilderback, Holister, Okla., and Miss Effie Johnston of this city.

Mrs. Johnston  came here with her family about eight years ago from Jasper, MO.

Funeral services were conducted at home by Rev. J. M. Martin.  Burial was made in the Crane Masonic Cemetery.
