Perry Honsinger, a 50 year resident of Lomita,
California, passed away August 9, 1995. Perry is survived by his
devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Opal (nee Hanniff) of Galena, Missouri;
his 3 children: Michael (Sunny nee Bombersback), Anthony, and Susan (John
Dalton); 3 grandchildren: Jeremy, Crystal, and Elizabeth; sister, Gladys
Williams of Reeds Spring, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Perry was born December 13, 1921 in Vilonia, Arkansas.
He traveled with his family to Reeds Spring, Missouri where he lived and
attended school and met the love of his life, Opal. Perry was drafted
into the U.S. Army in 1942 during WWII and served in Italy, Sicily and
North Africa. When Perry returned home in 1945, he and Opal were
married on December 24th. Perry was also called to duty in the service
of his country during the Korean War.
Perry and Opal relocated to Lomita, California,
where they raised their children. He was Scout Master of Boy Scout
Troop #569, a lifetime member of the Eshelman Avenue School PTA, a founding
member of the Wayside Methodist Church Methodist Men's Group, and a member
of the Lomita Masonic Lodge. Perry retired in January, 1984, from GATX
Oil Co. (formerly Phillips Petroleum Oil and Tidewater Oil) after 37 years.
Perry enjoyed his antique cars, gardening,
cooking, music, and most of all his family who will greatly miss his strength,
humor, and love.
Services were held August 12th at Green Hills
Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
