ALICE LOUELLA "GRISHAM" GREENWAY
Submitted by Granddaughter Belynda

Alice Louella Greenway was born December 11, 1919, the daughter of Loren and Charity Mae (King) Grisham, and went to be with her Lord on April 3, 2003 in Cox Hospital-South, Springfield, MO at the age of 83 years, three months and 22 days after living most all her life in Stone County. On October 27, 1937 she married the love of her life, Floyd Greenway, and they were blessed to have eight girls who she leaves to mourn her passing: Lois and Wayne Scott of Billings, Loretta and Tim Cox of Nixa, Betty and Larry Clines of Springfield, Joyce and Ralph Bradford of Galena, Karen Henry of Spokane, Marilyn Greenway of Nixa, Barbara and Stan Inman of Claremore, Oklahoma and Donna Kimberling of Galena. Also surviving are: five sisters, Hazel Rice of Reeds Spring, Edith Thomas of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Lorene and Bo Greenway of Galena, Betty Crumbliss of Wichita, Kansas and Edna and Jim Cruce of Wichita, Kansas; four sister-in-laws, Betty Grisham, Eula Stocker, Evelyn Baker and Janis Bowles; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 49 1/2 years, Floyd; her parents, Loren and Charity Grisham; three grandsons, Kevin and Timmy Cox and Gary Scott; a son-in-law, Jimmy Henry; a brother, Sonny Grisham; and two sisters, Audie Johnson and Ruth Brown. Early in their marriage Floyd and Alice traveled to California to work in the shipyards. They returned to raise their family on their farm near Ponce de Leon. Alice was such a hard worker, always raising a big garden. She loved to can anything and supplied her children and grandchildren with her wonderful apple butter and pepper jelly. There were not too many berry patches in Stone County she had not picked. Even as her health was failing, she was still making apple butter last fall and enjoying every minute of it. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and continued her walk with the Lord until her passing. She attended Ponce Pentecostal Church. Alice was a quiet woman with a heart of gold whose family was so important to her. It pleased her heart when all her children were home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 in Ponce Pentecostal Church with Rev. Gayle Cobb officiating. Burial was in Ponce de Leon Cemetery under the direction of Cheatham-Stumpff Funeral Home, Galena.
